RNC Stop Trump Official: “We Choose Our Nominee, Not The Voters” (video)…

Well, if the RNC/GOPe were attempting to keep up pretenses, it appears that’s all gone now.  During a CNBC interview Curly Haugland explains the RNC will select the republican nominee for president and the primary voters are irrelevant and inconsequential peons to be summarily dismissed.

Mr. Haugland is very transparent about it the RNC/GOPe intents; even going so far as to say he doesn’t even know why the RNC go through the process of holding primary elections [@3:26].  (watch video all the way through)

(Via CNBC) Political parties, not voters, choose their presidential nominees, a Republican convention rules member told CNBC, a day after GOP front-runner Donald Trump rolled up more big primary victories.

“The media has created the perception that the voters choose the nomination. That’s the conflict here,” Curly Haugland, an unbound GOP delegate from North Dakota, told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” on Wednesday. He even questioned why primaries and caucuses are held.

Haugland is one of 112 Republican delegates who are not required to cast their support for any one candidate because their states and territories don’t hold primaries or caucuses. (read more)

        by JOHN HAYWARD16 Mar 20161,114
Hogan Gidley, who served as national communications director for Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaign, appeared on Wednesday’s edition of Breitbart News Daily with SiriusXM host Stephen K. Bannon to discuss a crucial aspect of the Republican primary: the previously obscure, but increasingly notorious, Rule 40.

Technically, most of the analysts citing Rule 40 are referring to the current version of Rule 40(b), which sets a certain minimum threshold for candidates at the Republican National Convention. According to this rule, candidates must arrive at the convention with a majority of the delegates from eight states or territories, or else they are disqualified from the first round. In most elections, this is a mere formality because the clear winner of the nomination is well-known before the convention begins, making the convention an extended infomercial for the party and its nominee.

Of course, there is good reason to suspect the Republican convention will be rather more exciting this year. Gidley noted there is apprehension among front-runner Donald Trump’s supporters that the GOP Establishment will use some “shenanigans” to “steal” the nomination from him at the convention. Among those shenanigans could be changing Rule 40 to bring candidates who don’t meet the established minimum threshold into the game.

There are two ghosts from the 2012 election haunting the Shakespearean drama of the 2016 primary, and Gidley invoked them both in a single breath: Ron Paul and Mitt Romney.

“This is actually called the ‘Ron Paul Rule.’ The Romney people put this in place,” Gidley explained. “The Establishment hurt Ron Paul, but I think this Establishment rule will actually help Donald Trump.”

Gidley noted there is no way for one of the last three remaining candidates, Governor John Kasich of Ohio, to win the necessary majority of delegates from eight states. Texas Senator Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97%
        currently stands at seven.

He further asserted that, contrary to much speculation from pundits, Rule 40(b) technically blocks disqualified candidates from participating in any of the subsequent ballots, which scuttles the notion of denying Trump victory in an initial vote where only he and Cruz are qualified candidates, and then parachuting some other Establishment-preferred candidate into the convention hall to seize the nomination, possibly someone who didn’t even run in the 2016 primary at all.

(Cruz is arguably even less acceptable to the Establishment of his own party than Trump — a point that will be made by many an anguished Hamlet delivering monologues over the skull of Marco Yorick in the weeks ahead, to continue that Shakespeare metaphor.)

Rule 40 “was an effort to stop the Ron Paul faction from gaining traction at the convention,” Gidley recalled. “And now we see the fruits of that rule, which was designed to stop Ron Paul, could effectively stop the Establishment.”

“The second part of the rule is, you can’t even count votes for anybody else who doesn’t meet that threshold,” he pointed out. “So people can try to submit votes for other people — like Kasich, or like Rubio, or like Romney — but if you haven’t won a majority of the delegates in eight states, you can’t be on any ballot, at any time. First, second, third, fourth, fifth — it doesn’t matter.”

It has been suggested that the Rules Committee will simply change Rule 40 to arrange whatever outcome is necessary to block Trump, but Gidley was skeptical of this idea. Normally, a presumptive candidate who has reached the “magic number” of bound delegates needed to secure the nomination can control the rules. If Trump is held below that 1,237-delegate threshold this year, the Rules Committee could theoretically rewrite the rules to hurt him, but Gidley anticipated sheer chaos if such tactics were employed.

“If you think people are mad now … it’s gonna be a political jihad,” he warned.

Breitbart News Daily airs on SiriusXM Patriot Channel 125 weekdays from 6:00AM to 9:00AM EST.

Yes, project, Curly is indeed talking about laws and practices which do exist, and which people ought to know about, even though many do not. However, when party insiders start to publicly talk about primaries being fairly irrelevant, he is walking on a dangerous path. If the Republicans refuse the nomination to the candidate who has received the most popular support in the primaries, these insiders will soon be the only one’s left their party. At that point they will certainly be able to avoid the necessity of primaries.

It is discouraging to see this kind of talk among Republicans. They are the party that does not use the blatantly undemocratic practice of having pre-pledged “superdelegates” whose function is supposed to be to “educate” the people on the correct candidate to support.

If they do it, although I will not vote Democrat, I will never vote Republican again in my life. Not ever.

There’s about 400,000 Republican Party precinct committeeman slots spread all across the country’s voting precincts. Guess what percentage of these slots are filled. About half.

I live in AZ. We have about 10,000 or so such slots. The number of allotted slots varies, by statute, for each recognized political party, based upon the number of registered voters of the party that reside in each voting precinct. If there’s at least one registered voter of a recognized party, then there’s one slot. Then, for every additional 125 voters of that party, or majority portion thereof, that party gets an additional precinct committeeman slot for the precinct. Whichever of the registered voters wants to be a precinct has to run in the primary election and get elected to the position.

So, basically, about 1 out of 125 registered voters of a Party get to “run” the Party apparatus. The elected PCs in turn elect officers for each of the 30 legislative district committees and each of the 15 county committees. The PCs in each LD get to elect on state committeeman for every three elected PCs among them. The state committeemen gather every two years to elect the officers of the state party committee. And the PCs in each LD gather every four years to elect state presidential nominating convention delegates. My LD does that tomorrow night. The convention delegates elect the national committeeman and committeewoman, who serve, along with the state chairman, on the Republican National Committee. They also are, automatically, national convention delegates. And the state convention delegates elect the national committee delegates.

ANYONE who is a registered Republican can run for state convention delegate. But only the PCs get to vote for who gets to be a state convention delegate.

ANYONE who is a registered Republican can run for national convention delegate. But only the state convention delegates get to vote for who gets to be a national convention delegate.

Now here’s the rub. At the “top” of the Party’s ranks, all of the slots are filled. At the RNC, there are no vacancies. All the state chairman slots are filled along with all the state officer slots.

But as you get down to the county and local district committee and precinct level, the participation rate falls way off. In some states, in some counties, there is no Party apparatus at all.

Here in Arizona, half of the precinct committeemen slots are vacant.

If conservatives filled all these vacant slots all across the country, they would OWN the Party.

But blogging is so much more effective for changing things politically, no?

          (That was sarcasm.)

Our Party is filled with RINOs at the “top” because the RINOs “get” how this all works.

          And they work it.

          Conservatives? Not so much.

My precinct has 12 PC slots. 10 are filled.

My legislative district has about 440 PC slots.

          About 220 are filled.

Tomorrow night, as I mentioned, the PCs of my LD will elect their convention delegates. I will be running for a slot. And those of us who know each other to be conservatives will be voting for one another. In hopes that we can outnumber the RINOs who are PCs.

It only takes about three hours a month to attend the meetings of the local committee and then help GOTV come primary and general election time.

It takes no more than ten signatures to get onto the ballot to run for the party office of precinct committeeman.

I think he came very, very close to running in 2012. He’s said his children were younger and were not ready to take on the business, he had a lot of projects going on at the time and just decided not.

I’m just wondering why he pulled back at that time.

The extremely bad consequences of stealing the Republican nomination from Donald Trump would be far reaching!! At the end of the day, any novice observer of politics knows that Hillary Clinton is not liked by many Democrats and many also know that Donald Trump will EAT HER for breakfast on his way to the White House!!
The f-g Republican Mitt Romney, Ted Cruz and John Kasich who all currently conspire to steal the Republican nomination from Donald Trump, they will be defeated!!

Mitt Romney is a member of the Republican establishment whose Senators and Congressmen have, these past years, been doing NOTHING to support their voters’ issues except agreeing to every single proposition that Obama asked them to vote for!!
Now, the disgraceful and EVIL Mitt Romney convinced both Marco Rubio and John Kasich to stay in the race when they were on their way to abandon their campaign, as both have ZERO chance of getting the number of delegates necessary, mathematically speaking!!
Marco Rubio went as far as asking his voters in Ohio to vote for John Kasich, a presidential candidate who has not even won a single primary so far just before the Florida and Ohio primaries!!
The EVIL and bitter Mitt Romney even did Robocalls full of lies against Donald Trump for Marco Rubio, John Kasich and even Ted Cruz!!!
The EVIL and dishonest plan? Prevent Donald Trump to win the necessary number of delegates and then try to rob him of the Republican nomination of the Republican convention!!! Going as far as choosing any of the other candidates, irrespective of the number of delegates that they have at that time when the Republican convention is held!!
Mitt Romney, Marco Rubio and John Kasich SHOULD BE EXPULSED FROM THE REPUBLICAN PARTY FOR ACTING IN SUCH AN EVIL, HIGHLY COWARD AND DISHONEST WAY AGAINST DONALD TRUMP!!

We are not going to support ANY republican on the entire ticket if our primary votes are not counted. And how could any republican expect to get our vote when our vote was not counted in the primaries?
We are going to vote. And if our candidate has the most electoral votes, but is not on the ballot, we will write him in – and then vote for other non-republicans down the ballot.
Tell Mr. Hoeven that he needs to contact these delegates and explain the error in their thinking.
In fact, these 112 un-pledged delegates need to support the front runner to help assure that republican primary votes do count. And we don’t want to wait for the convention to start before understand that all of these delegates understand, because we are getting very nervous and upset.

Illegal immigrants are now able to VOTE in California; Judge Nap explains how Dems got away with it
    October 14, 2015 Carmine Sabia

Illegal immigrants are going to be able to vote in California now that a new bill has become law.

That’s what judge Andrew Napolitano said Tuesday on “Fox & Friends,” about a new law signed by Gov. Jerry Brown that automatically registers a person to vote when they get or renew their driver’s licenses.

The issue is that California does not require proof of American citizenship to acquire a driver’s license.

The issue, Napolitano said, is that the Supreme Court has determined voting is a fundamental right like that of free speech.

“The Supreme Court has wrongly said it’s a fundamental right. And once it said that, states like California decided to allow people to vote who aren’t qualified by law to vote because of the fundamental aspect.”

The solution to our political “aristocracy” is quite simple:
    STOP VOTING FOR INCUMBENT POLITICIANS!
    .
The reason we are in the position we are now is because we keep voting for the same old, corrupt politicians over and over. STOP IT!
    .
If you don’t already know, look up who your current corrupt Congress critters are, so you will know who NOT to vote for. If you are an uninformed voter, voting as your union, political party or other group tells you, you are part of the problem. Interesting people are saying that on the right because on the left they are saying the exact same thing about Bernie. This is really a wake up call to voters that what we want doesn’t matter we must choose from the crap they give us. Good for you, write Trump in, send a message to establishment.

Looks like the Republicans are having the same problem as the Democrats. The super-delagates (the establishment) are over riding the people and making Hillary the nominee when the people want Bernie. And now the RNC is ignoring the people and going to block Trump from being the nominee. Why do we even pretend we are a Democratic nation anymore?

No. Any Republican can get involved “inside” the Party. Half of the precinct committeemen slots are vacant. Conservatives fail to fill them. RINOs have run the Party, by and large, because they fill these positions in greater numbers, on average, than do conservatives. Majority rules. If conservatives want to remake the Party, nothing is preventing them from doing so. I have been preaching this since 2009. http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/08/12/unite-or-die-the-hobbits-plan-to-take-over-the-gop/ If a majority of the delegates want candidate X, they will nominate candidate X. That’s the way it works.

Curly Hoagland is a zero and extremely delusional. If the RNC tries anything devious, there will be no republican party and Hillary will be elected. These establishment coolaid drinkers don’t register the message that voters have clearly given them in rejecting Bush and Rubbio. As Trump has stated: the big story is the very large increase iin voters in the Republican primary…..around 70% from 2012. These people were primarily motivated by the Trumps candidacy. Hoagland and fellow dopes are crazy if they think Trump voters will vote for their handpicked candidate if Trump is screwed over. Hoagland thinks that he and company can override democracy. What a piece of work! As Gingrich said, these people are in denial but they will soon come to grips with reality after seeing their therapists or local bartenders.

Curly Haugland was just on CNBC again. He said he is on the RNC rules committee and still intends to try to get this rule change. That anyone having received at least one vote (did he mean delegate) could be eligible for nomination. He said there would be 8 people eligible, but If he meant delegate , there may be 10 according to Politico’s totals. Does Mr. Haugland have any political weight to have any chance with this change ?
