Yes, Unfortunately Ted Cruz Did Support Trans-Pacific Trade Deal (TPA) – With Video…

Senator Ted Cruz relies on two essential political elements to keep his “conservative” ruse afloat. The first is that people don’t follow “unanimous consent” passages in the Senate; the second is that people don’t follow “cloture votes” – Both of which are never recorded “roll call votes”, and allow candidates to obscure their intent and later claim a counter position.

It’s a good trick, and indeed fools almost everyone.  Unless, that is, you’re tracking them while they occur…

Red Circled Candidates All Support Trans-Pacific Trade Agreement (TPP)

GOP candidates TPP

CASE IN POINT – HR2146 (TPA “Trade Promotion Authority” or “Fast Track”): This House Bill #2146 originating April 30th ’15, became the vehicle for passage of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal.

HR2146 was originally introduced in the House of Representatives as a bill to address issues with retirement funds of federal law enforcement officers and firefighters.

BACKSTORY – In the beginning of the congressional session, with Republicans now in control of both the House and Senate, in Feb-March-April of 2015,  Senator Ted Cruz and House Ways and Means Chairman, Representative Paul Ryan, supported Trade Promotion Authority being added to HR2146.

Their support was most notable when they posted the following Op-Ed which appeared in the Wall Street Journal on April 22nd:

http://paulryan.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=398270

On May 12th HR2146 passed/agreed to in House: On motion to suspend the rules and pass the bill, as amended. Agreed to by the Yeas and Nays: (2/3 required): 407 – 5 (Roll no. 220). (text: CR H2848)

The bill passed the house 407-5 because it was not controversial. It was simply a bill for benefits toward LEO and Firefighters retirement funds.

However, as planned, on June 4th 2015, the senate passed the house bill “with changes”.  The Trade-Deal was added and notably included an amendment “adding TPA” (thanks to Ted Cruz) and TAA (needed for Elizabeth Warren coalition) By unanimous consent thereby avoiding a roll vote on record.

https://www.congress.gov/congressional-record/2015/house-section/page/H4507-4518

On June 18, 2015 the House accepted the TPA change (Paul Ryan spearhead) and removed TAA (the financial assistance package for training of union workers – this angered the Pelosi Dems).  The Senate Democrats, who generally oppose TPP were hoodwinked – TAA was never originally going to be allowed.

The Democrats in the Senate were furious.  They turned to Nancy Pelosi for help in getting the entire fiasco eliminated.  However, the White House (Obama Inc) supported the entire construct of the TPP.   Pelosi had to be arm twisted by the White House to go along with HR2146 with TAA spending removed – she acquiesced to President Obama.

Without TAA HR2146 passed again in the House, only this time with a much closer vote of 218-208, and went back to the Senate to resolve differences. (Remember because of the way it was constructed, the only difference was the removal of TAA – the training spending)

https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-bill/2146

On June 24th HR2146 (TPA without TAA) Then passed the Senate (Ted Cruz did not attempt to block or filibuster because this was the original plan all along). The bill passed in the Senate 60-38 (3/5ths passage rule).

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?&congress=114&session=1&vote=00219

President Obama now had “fast track trade authorization” to complete the Trans-Pacific Trade Deal and thanks to Ted Cruz Obama only needed 51 votes to pass it.

On June 29th Obama signed TPP agreement with Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) and HR2146 became law.

TPP trade 2

Senator Ted Cruz voted for Cloture on TPA Fast track trade authority removing the hurdle and concern of further amendments and clearing the way for passage. Again, like “unanimous consent” cloture votes are not recorded roll call votes. Thereby Ted Cruz could obfuscate his support. He figured to hide, see how that works?

However, Cruz advocacy could not be hidden entirely. On another bill HR 1314 Cruz voted against an amendment to the Trade Deal that would require congress to be consulted if China (or other nations) were to join after the fact:

Senate Amendment 1251 “To require the approval of Congress before additional countries may join the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement”…

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=114&session=1&vote=00189

Cruz voted NAY. Directly saying he did not want congress to be consulted before other countries, namely CHINA, could join TPP.

♦ Notice during November’s debate Rand Paul, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz were saying China is not part of TPP; contrast their voices against Donald Trump who was honestly saying TPP carries a backdoor for China (and Russia) to join.

NOVEMBER 4th – In an interview with Russian interstate channel Mir TV, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry invited China and Russia to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

“We invite people to come join other initiatives, like the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the TPP. We welcome China, we welcome Russia, we welcome other countries who would like to join, as long as they want to raise the standards and live up to the highest standards of protecting people and doing business openly and transparently and accountably,” said Secretary Kerry. (read more) State Dept Link HERE

Donald Trump was entirely correct. Senator Rand Paul, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz were factually incorrect.  They were not incorrect by accident, but rather by complicit ideology.

BOTTOM LINE –  It might hurt Cruz supporters to admit what took place, and worse – to accept the transparency of motive behind what drove his decision making; but it makes no sense at all to ignore the truth of what took place.

Unfortunately, Ted Cruz is part of the Wall Street purchased construct that is currently infecting our entire body politic. The connections to the U.S. CoC legislative agenda, and Goldman Sachs are evident within action not words, along with KtP and obviously his wife Heidi Cruz  [ employed by Goldman Sachs, and adviser to Council on Foreign Relations].

In the video below Ted Cruz Explains why he supports (TPA) Trade Promotion Authority:

Don’t pay attention to what Cruz says, pay closer attention to what Cruz does !!

Wow! Sundance really unloaded on Cruz today!! Very timely.

Dan Scavino telegraphed on twitter earlier today that Trump was going to unload on Cruz (“Over the next few days, remember who fired the first shot” Scavino tweeted…)

That tweet got a prompt man-hug response from Cruz saying how much he admires the Donald, which Trump retweeted.

That leaves us with some mixed signals. There is another bad Iowa poll from Des Moines Register coming out. Cruz IS the new Carson. Fake Iowa Surge and the whole ball of wax.

Deep breath. Will be a tough few days. But I’m sure we’ll rally behind Trump one more time…. And again…

These series of posts from Sundance couldn’t have come at a better time!!

      Thank you Sundance!

Great piece because it tells the “truth” about this monster sellout of America and its workers — NAFTA on steroids. It also correctly reveals Ted Cruz’s duplicity — he voted for it before he was against it. It further undermines Rush’s claim that he is a thoroughbred conservative and exposes Cruz as an Anti-American cheap labor Globalist. Rush has some explaining to do — we will be listening closely

And we haven’t even brought up Mr. Conservative’s vote for the treasonus Iran/Corker bill or his other cheap labor positions. Ted is a Conservative Pretender owned by big money turncoats; whereas Pro-American. Donald Trump owes nobody and that is why the mega-Corporations, the UniParty, and the media hate him with a passion — these Judas sellouts love money over their country.

      • Before Sir Donald the Lion Hearted got into the race, I was a big Cruz fan. I even bought his audio book to learn more about him. When Mr Trump announced his entry into the race, I basically thought he was some very rich real estate guy that also did stupid reality TV shows. I thought Mr Trump was playing around w/ the presidency thing for publicity or on a lark. But the more I heard from Mr Trump and the more I learned about Mr Cruz’s recent votes in the Senate, I totally switched to Mr Trump. Cruz’s votes for the fast track on TPP (how many fast tracked treaties didn’t pass?) and the Corker Iran Amendment are simply, flat out unforgivable. Then throw in his wife’s Goldman Sachs and CFR ties. Game over for me. Mr Cruz, talks cheap (even bedtime stories for your daughters), it’s how you vote (and who apparently pulls your strings w/ $$) that counts.

But, the piece of work is not exactly truthful. Cherrypicking is what it is called.
Cruz did vote for cloture but he caught McConnell in deep conversation with the DEMs and Cruz questioned if he had made a deal with the DEMs when the REP Senators had their luncheon………..McConnell repeated in front of all 3 times “NO Deal”. Cruz later found out that indeed McConnell had made a deal with the DEMs to completely fund the EX/IM Bank adding to the TPA bill when it came up for the actual vote. Does anyone recall Cruz on the Floor of the Senate telling McConnell he LIED? That is why Cruz Voted “NO” on the recorded bill voting.
Cruz researched and found for the last 100 years a president was always given Fast Track approval to negotiate Treaties but did have to return to Congress and obtain 2/3 approval of the Senate for it to be ratified. The TTP still has portions of the draft which have not been provided to Congress for them to have the complete draft as obama was keeping those secret. The 60 day clock starts when ALL of the TPP has been delivered to the Senate.

Partial truths make one lose credibility!

There is no “partial truth” – what is stated above (in the post) is exactly what took place, and including the candidate’s own words of why they took place – his words, not mine.

What you are attempting to do is put an excuse to the issue, AFTER THE FACT of what took place. Essentially you are saying Ted Cruz was hoodwinked after what he advocated for was passed, based on the fact that the EX/IM bank re-authorization was included as a promise for later bill support.

Remove the EX/IM bank issue (which was a promise to Dems) and Cruz got exactly what he wanted in TPA. The EX/IM hoodwink was for a later legislative issue. That has nothing to do with Cruz’s support for TPA. No-one ever said Cruz supported the EX/IM bank re-authorization, it’s a non issue for this discussion.

Also, contrary to fb274 posting….the TPP just needs a majority vote…not 2/3 vote required for a treaty. No bad trade deal would ever pass if it met the threshold required for a treaty.

Everything Sundance has posted about Cruz is correct…and can be substantiated with much evidence

I first suspected Cruz was bad news when I found out Cruz’s wife Heidi was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. There is NO WAY she becomes a member of that Liberal Anti American group if her husband is a pro American, border security advocating conservative. Ted Cruz cannot be a conservative based on that alone

You bring up an excellent point. Ted Cruz as a conservative
would not have his wife work for a “liberal Anti American”
            group.

And in speaking of husband/wife political teams, a light bulb
just went on in my head. I can’t recall their names, however,
during Clinton’s reign, there was a husband/wife political
pundit team whereby the husband was a staunch Clinton
supporter and the wife was a republican. He looks like a
reptile. I think her name might have been Mary; not sure.
At any rate, I could never figure out how they could be
married with such opposite viewpoints. Could that duo have
been our first glimpse of the “Uniparty”? They had opposite
views in front of the camera only. Putting one over on the

I just don’t understand why the Republican party base keeps there head in the sand as far as the economy goes. Ronald Reagan, purposed free trade with Mexico and gave the largest amnesty yet. HW Bush gave executive amnesty and pushed for NAFTA and then ratified it and Bill Clinton convinced other democrats to vote for it and signed it. GW Bush, along with a full Republican congress of House and senate control for quite some time did absolutely nothing to stop the acceleration of outsourcing to China when they joined the world trade organization and then borrowed money from China to balance the dwindling revenue of the Federal Government to take care of our infrastructure but creating a larger deficit.

Now Obama with along with Republicans controlling the house and senate votes for TPP. What you are seeing is the complete sell out of the United States by both parties but I put the most blame on Republicans to listening to people like Rush Limbaugh who knows nothing, except how to make a lot of money off of gullible people and feeding off of their paranoia.

The common thread here is all the Presidents mentioned are part of the NeoLiberal movement to bring back the idea of laissez faire capitalism of free trade ,deregulation and open borders which has devastated our economy. David Koch considers himself a “classical liberal which is the same as a neoliberal”. Just look up “NeoLiberal” and you will see NAFTA and such things.

I am sorry but unregulated capitalism doesn’t work. China has capitalism now but it is regulated believe that by a dictatorship that hovers over it’s people. No one does anything without the permission of the powers to be. That is the problem with “free trade” when you are dealing with basically still a Communist country. It is unbalanced. Our economy sinks to lowest denominator with free trade as you see witnessed before your very eyes, unless you are blind.

The appeal of Donald Trump is that he has gotten the GOP base to finally realize that the GOP is full of it. They say one thing and do another. They pander to the really unimportant things for each base whether it is Gay marriage, religious freedom, welfare, etc to keep people’s attention away from the economy.

Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump both agree that free trade has not worked for us. But no one is saying that we shouldn’t trade but that we should trade “fairly” with rules and stipulations. We do things in the interest of the United States and it’s citizens. Politicians are here to serve it’s citizens and somehow they believe they are above us.

If you freely trade with a poor person, you will not end up with much. The United States needs to focus on it’s interests which is it’s citizens. They have failed miserably and allowed the middle class to dwindle. People have to work and receive a decent wage to be able to buy things to grow the economy. This is what created the middle class. Last I looked, the Constitution says ” we the people to form a more perfect union….. It doesn’t say “we the Corporations to form a more perfect union….

Not to mention pooh-poohing everything in it as negligible!

This video SD posted here is a full expression of Ted Cruz’s honesty, integrity, and allegience to the American people – it’s apparent he has none!

If Cruz can suck up the establishment vote, then drop out at the key moment, it assures Trump the nomination and blocks out any chance of a brokered convention. Trump selecting Katrina as VP blocks the GOPe from forcing an establishment VP on him. This would be a complete checkmate on the Establishment if that happened. When the Establishment’s hand is forced into openly supporting Hillary, the people will turn on Hillary, as they have been taught to hate the “elite white people class”. The general election at that point will be Trump’s no matter what happens.

Why do you suppose the Veep must come from the passel of ‘also-ran’ candidates that litter the countryside in tatters?

Trump can pick anybody he wishes–and he isn’t limited to these flawed candidates.

As for me, I didn’t particularly have anything against Cruz until he exposed himself with TPP, and lately, with his disingenuous scheming when being recorded surreptitiously.

But neither was I ever in Cruz’ camp. He just never resonated with me: too many carefully-memorized talking point answers; too ‘slick’ by half. Now the pieces have fallen into place, and I can’t see myself supporting Cruz no matter what.

Examples of sketchy stuff (this article discusses it in hindsight – I watched it in very real time)

      http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2014/politics/hamby-midterms-chamber-tea-party/

After all that, and Cruz’s participation in it, ……Ted Cruz leadership PAC gave the NRSC $200,000. The NRSC then used that money to attack candidate Chris McDaniel in Mississippi – as Ted Cruz sat on the NRSC as VP and DID NOTHING.

That was the straw that broke the camels back, per se’..

Exactly. He did not “resign” after the fact and did not DO anything to stop it while he was there as one of the leadership positions. The guy is the biggest phony and scam artist. Shoebat had an “interesting” view of him from a Christian’s perspective. I am not a Christian so I will not voice my opinion regarding to his religion. But as a human being, he is a stealthy, clever, subterfuge, not very truthful person, and it is all about the senator and no one else. It was an interesting thing that he pointed it out how Trumpy stood up to Israel after Netanyahu blasted his comments about the Muslim visa issue. http://shoebat.com/2015/12/10/donald-trump-fights-islam-benjamin-netanyahu-condemns-trump-and-trump-cancels-his-trip-to-israel/.

Sundance- What happened to McDaniels was the worse thing I ever saw I will never forget the name Haley Barbour and his role in that but I don’t think Cruz can be tied to that.
“Roll Call reported in January that, “Cruz’s role as vice chairman of grass-roots outreach appears thus far to be rich in symbolism but light on substance.” Since then, the substance has gotten even lighter and the symbolism murkier.

It’s helpful for the NRSC to look like it cares about grass-roots voters. It’s less helpful for the NRSC to have the person who is the face of that effort on television for the Senate Conservatives Fund, which is currently “polling” its membership on whether to support Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky in a primary, citing his “liberal record” in Washington. Given the “symbolic” nature of the position, however, sources said it would look worse for the NRSC to try to remove Cruz than it would be for the group to keep him around in title only. And neither party has indicated an intent to part ways formally.

Fellow conservative Rand Paul of Kentucky, for example, has backed off of his involvement with the SCF because he publicly backs McConnell and the group is unlikely to do so. A GOP source indicated that the SCF has spent about $500,000 on TV and radio in seven states with incumbent senators, including Kentucky.”

I accidentally hit the liked button. I don’t like.

There was a time when we thought Paul Ryan was a conservative too.

Please re-read Sundance’s post. A year ago, Ted Cruz had not turned over Congress’s responsibilities and America’s sovereignty over to Obama by supporting TPP. He said he is for free trade and against the corrupted Import/Export bank, but then voted against TPP when his support and vote was no longer mattered. Cruz voted for the Corker bill too, I might add.

As I did, at some point you must realize that you’re being played. His support for TPA and the Iran Deal made me realize Cruz is also the brilliant attorney and Constitutional scholar who said he didn’t realize he held dual-citizenship with Canada. Really?

If you can provide a link where Cruz gives a straight answer about what he would do with all the illegal alien invaders in our country, then maybe we can talk more about Ted Cruz.

I thank God that Donald Trump entered the race when he did because I had become completely disillusioned with politics. Ted Cruz had been my last hope. Now, I have even more hope.

As to Trump’s VP: There are at least 300,000,000 people in this country. At least 50,000,000 could qualify. Why is it everyone assumes the VP has to come from the candidate pool for president? Why is it everyone feels that if it is good to play to identity politics and choose a woman or minority (and notice I said IF), that it has to be from one of the few women in politics–or the few black conservatives in politics. To go back to the dating analogy, it’s like saying you live in New York but you can only pick from people who live on the first two floors of your apartment.

As for crumbling infantries, everyone should take a trip to China and compare their trains to our trains as one example. China paid for their infrastructure with the US dollars they accumulated from the US trade deficits.
States needs dollars to build infrastructures. When 50 million workers no longer make livable wage, the cannot afford to upgrade infrastructures. We need dollars back in the USA to pay costs rather than pay interest on Government Bonds held by China and other trade partners that own the majority of US Bonds..

As for trust, who do we guess to trust to have the right answers to solve our problems?
