The Decision Has Been Made To Remove The Confederate Flag….

Confederate-battle_240-animated-flag-gifs

The bigger question is:

Are we a Constitutional Republic, or a Democracy?

This won’t stop folks, it just won’t.

As soon as South Carolina caved under public pressure to remove the Confederate flag from government buildings etc., the next phase went into full effect.

The confederate flag is proclaimed as a symbol of racism and oppression.  Those same activists view the U.S.A stars and stripes the same way.

What is to become of monuments and memorials to Southern generals and history.  Surely, all of that is just as offensive to the same crowd of activists.  Mississippi State university?  Ol Miss?   “The Rebel” sports groups?

Ponce De Leon, Christopher Columbus, General Lee…. where do you stop?  When will you reach a point that no-one is offended?  The Alamo?  Washington Park?  Gettysburg?  Penns Landing?

It won’t stop folks.  These same people will tear it all down, and will eventually be telling the people in Massachusetts that Plymouth Rock is a symbol of white oppression and racism.

Some folks may laugh and dismiss the controversy, but predicting where this is headed is really a no brainer.

I think this pretty much sums it up:

The African and ISIS flags are more offensive than any other today. Heinous human rights abuse is being done under those flags – including slavery.

The rainbow flag symbolizes lifestyles that are dangerous, dysfunctional and deadly – acts that are correlated with 40-150 times greater incidence of all STDs.

DO NOT acknowledge or give any credibility and honor to any of those flags.

I don’t think the media represents America. Survey after survey says that people don’t trust them, newspaper readership has dropped by at least half the last decade, and while I don’t know the percentages offhand, TV news is losing viewers as well. When they were the only game in town, people paid a lot of attention to them; now that there are so many alternatives, I sometimes think they’re trying to get people’s attention by acting the clown.

When Haley was in the SC House of Representatives, she made comments that the issue (the confederate flag) was settled and would not be revisited in the future. But now she’s singing a different tune. Something tells me that her motives have to do with political aspirations on the national level (possible Vice Presidential candidate), thinking that by calling for the removal of the confederate flag, this will ingratiate her to the leftist media, blacks, and social justice liberals. But I think before it’s all over, she will in fact learn a valuable lesson – there is no appeasing these groups. There grievance is perpetual – once you give in, they will only find something else which outrages or offends them.

I think first and foremost, they owe it to voters to do what they told voters they would do if elected to office. But with that being said, never put it past Republicans to have to put some one who happens to be a woman and from a minority group (in this case, East Indian) because some consultant told them they need to do so in order to appeal to “independent voters”.

Scott Walker, Bush, Romney, and others have all said the Confederate Battle flag needs to come down from the State Capital grounds. I agree with Nikki’s very balanced approach. She is not weak, in fact she has placed it in front of the SC legislature which is the only legal recourse to changing where it flies. She made the point that it can fly on private property and that it still is an important symbol for those who see it as an emblem of Southern Pride.

Of course now that is not enough, anything remotely Confederate has to be banned. Next is BBQ and Sweet Tea.

The beauty of our Constitutional Republic is it contains built-in protections for the unalienable rights of minorities. No not phony minorities based on race, gender-identity etc, but the only true minority – the individual (and that’s ALL individuals). Pure Democracy ( which is without the protection of individual liberty) is tyranny of the majority, or mob-rule writ large. You know the joke- if 3 people are stranded on a desert island, under a pure democracy two of them can vote to kill and eat the third. That’s of course exactly why leftist proclaim their love of democracy. They plan to manipulate the majority (or just steal the elections) into voting them all the power they lust for, including the power to eliminate opposition. A little reading with your morning coffee.

Obama’s school records – old topic; but worth reading.

Obama’s College Classmate: ‘The Obama Scandal Is at Columbia’

By attacking Romney’s tax records, Obama’s socialist cabal creates a problem that doesn’t exist. Is the U.S. Senate Majority Leader making up stories out of thin air? You decide. But the reason for this baseless attack is clear- make Romney defend, so not only is he “off message” but it helps the media ignore the real Obama scandal.
My answer for Romney? Call Obama’s bluff.
Romney should call a press conference and issue a challenge in front of the nation. He should agree to release more of his tax returns, only if Obama unseals his college records. Simple and straight-forward. Mitt should ask “What could possibly be so embarrassing in your college records from 29 years ago that you are afraid to let America’s voters see? If it’s THAT bad, maybe it’s something the voters ought to see.” Suddenly the tables are turned. Now Obama is on the defensive.
My bet is that Obama will never unseal his records because they contain information that could destroy his chances for re-election. Once this challenge is made public, my prediction is you’ll never hear about Mitt’s tax returns ever again.
Why are the college records, of a 51-year-old President of the United States, so important to keep secret? I think I know the answer.
If anyone should have questions about Obama’s record at Columbia University, it’s me. We both graduated (according to Obama) Columbia University, Class of ’83. We were both (according to Obama) Pre-Law and Political Science majors. And I thought I knew most everyone at Columbia. I certainly thought I’d heard of all of my fellow Political Science majors. But not Obama (or as he was known then- Barry Soetoro). I never met him. Never saw him. Never even heard of him. And none of the classmates that I knew at Columbia have ever met him, saw him, or heard of him.
But don’t take my word for it. The Wall Street Journal reported in 2008 that Fox News randomly called 400 of our Columbia classmates and never found one who had ever met Obama.
Now all of this mystery could be easily and instantly dismissed if Obama released his Columbia transcripts to the media. But even after serving as President for 3 1/2 years he refuses to unseal his college records. Shouldn’t the media be as relentless in pursuit of Obama’s records as Romney’s? Shouldn’t they be digging into Obama’s past–beyond what he has written about himself–with the same boundless enthusiasm as Mitt’s?

The first question I’d ask is, if you had great grades, why would you seal your records? So let’s assume Obama got poor grades. Why not release the records? He’s president of the free world, for gosh sakes. He’s commander-in-chief of the U.S. military. Who’d care about some poor grades from three decades ago, right? So then what’s the problem? Doesn’t that make the media suspicious? Something doesn’t add up.

Secondly, if he had poor grades at Occidental, how did he get admitted to an Ivy League university in the first place? And if his grades at Columbia were awful, how’d he ever get into Harvard Law School? So again those grades must have been great, right? So why spend millions to keep them sealed?

Third, how did Obama pay for all these fancy schools without coming from a wealthy background? If he had student loans or scholarships, would he not have to maintain good grades?

I can only think of one answer that would explain this mystery.

Here’s my gut belief: Obama got a leg up by being admitted to both Occidental and Columbia as a foreign exchange student.

He was raised as a young boy in Indonesia. But did his mother ever change him back to a U.S. citizen?

When he returned to live with his grandparents in Hawaii or as he neared college-age preparing to apply to schools, did he ever change his citizenship back? I’m betting not.

If you could unseal Obama’s Columbia University records I believe you’d find that:

    A) He rarely ever attended class.
    B) His grades were not those typical of what we understand it takes to get into Harvard Law School.
    C) He attended Columbia as a foreign exchange student.
    D) He paid little for either undergraduate college or Harvard Law School because of foreign aid and scholarships given to a poor foreign students like this kid Barry Soetoro from Indonesia.

If you think I’m “fishing” then prove me wrong. Open up your records Mr. President. What are you afraid of?

If it’s okay for U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to go on a fishing expedition about Romney’s taxes (even though he knows absolutely nothing about them nor will release his own), then I think I can do the same thing. But as Obama’s Columbia Class of ’83 classmate, at least I have more standing to make educated guesses.
It’s time for Mitt to go on the attack and call Obama’s bluff.

No US history is not religion. But it is the expression of beliefs and culture that one should be able to express in a free nation. If the next unstable young man with a gun shoots up a meeting of American Atheists do we track down and try to blame the denomination he was raised in? Right now the progs are all insisting we all “share a common blame.”

A lot of youth have this problem it seems with the well connected Twitter and Social Media they have now. They have to ACT like what their friends would like or expect them to act like. They have to be for or against what their friends are for or against. It’s a virtual mob mentality. It’s learned online and off. It discourages independent thinking and beliefs. I’m surprised, I think many of us are surprised, when a youth comes out black or white or whatever that seems to not have been sucked into that group (or groups) mentality and makes a statement.

Yep. Here is Maryland, we have the Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz (aka Greg Brady) and Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake (Mayor Maybelline) this morning calling for the renaming of a park (which I happen to live near), which is currently named Robert E. Lee Park. The mayor is also calling for the removal of statues and memorials around the city that are linked to the confederacy. Never mind that this park has bore his name for years without so much as an afterthought. I have to ask the mayor, how does changing the name of the park and removing certain monuments that you didn’t care ago a couple days ago going to change things in a city which has one the highest homicide rates in the country, has one of the worst school systems in the state, and just set a record for homicides in a month?

      http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/baltimore-county/towson/bs-md-co-robert-e-lee-20150622-story.html

BTW, if Baltimore is going to remove all symbols of the confederacy and those involved (like Robert E. Lee), they should start with the unfinished fort (Fort Carroll) in the middle of Baltimore Harbor that was designed by and whose construction was overseen by one Robert E. Lee.

    “St. Andrew’s Cross
    also called a Saltire

It is believed that the apostle Andrew was crucified on a saltire (X-shaped) cross; hence the name St. Andrew’s Cross. He is said to have told his executioners that he was not worthy to be crucified on the same cross style as Jesus, and persuaded them to alter the shape. If this is true, it’s a remarkable example of stoicism displayed by a man, no doubt beaten and starved, yet retaining the mental energy to plead such a thing with his brutal executioners.

Detailed records of his crucifixion only date back to the Middle Ages, and these records are influenced be the imagination of the medieval artists. But even if the origin is a myth, the cross shape reminds Christians that they should exercise humility.1

In Greek, the first letter for Christ (Chi) also happens to be ‘X’-shaped2, as in the Chi Rho Cross.”

It’s sad that the GOP leaders haven’t a clue as to what the symbols mean. The State of South Carolina and its people have a right to their Flag and not a panicked response to BGI and the White House over what was likely a framed hoax involving a drug addict who didn’t have a job and got recruited to be a nut job.

This is being done at a bad time and for bad reasons. It should have been done long ago, b/c it’s basically treason to fly another “nation’s” flag on your state government buildings and/or military installations. That goes for NATO, too, even though it’s not a nation unto itself. It is also distinctly not the USA. The only reason we’ve gotten away with it in the former CSA is that the Union could never admit that we were ever a separate nation and some other real mind bending quasi-legal illogic, by which they justified refusing to honor the Confederate States’ rights to depart from the Union, when it ceased to honor its states’ rights and interests and kept the southern states under U.S. law and administration for purposes of taxes and trade. If it’s purely a matter of history, put it in museums and where appropriate on monuments, like at Vicksburg, Gettysburg, etc. That’s the official/gummint side.

Now for private purposes, we should all have the right to have any flag we want, so long as we’re not using it to attack or undermine the USA. Trying to get people to rally under an ISIS or other flag for the purpose of imposing sharia or other regime change against the USA is, again, treason or sedition. If anyone destroys our private property, we have criminal and civil sanctions that can be pursued against such persons, including limited “self help” measures, depending on the circumstances and applicable state law (apparently, in Texas, you can shoot someone who’s stealing property and trying to abscond, if that’s the only way to stop them–that will not fly in most states, to my limited knowledge).

Combined with the foregoing, proposed return to rational and lawful use of flags, should be a strong push by LEOs at every level to enforce laws pertaining to desecration of the USA flag. We need to stop that disrespectful crap cold.

Glad to hear anyone else’s legal arguments, but all this “history, history, where do we stop” sturm und drang doesn’t really recognize the distinct situation of flying a flag of a rebel nation on government buildings. Btw, I know it’s the “battle flag” not the political flag–let’s not waste too much breath on that canard–I wear a patch of the CSA political flag regularly as an act of civil disobedience. Maybe 3 people out of thousands I’ve encountered in my majority black city have recognized it, all have been white and all have been “supportive.” For CSA, it was and remains about states’ rights. For the north, it had to be made about slavery to use emotionalism to whip up support for an initially unpopular, unduly costly, bloody, and probably unconstitutional war. Anyone with any objectivity and economic sense realizes that slavery would have ended gradually, on its own in a few decades, through mechanization and recognition that it was cheaper for land owners to lease out land (share cropping) or hire wage labor, than deal with the expenses and problems of owning recalcitrant people as slaves.

As a side note, there are at least two places in Baltimore that their LLEOs should protect–the double equestrian statue of Generals Lee and Jackson across from the Museum of Art and the Memorial to Confederate Women in the little park at N. Charles and University. If you have occasion to visit B’more, go see them. They are beautiful and inspiring. Then go down W. 29th St., from Lee and Jackson to Sterling’s Seafood for a fine culinary dmz experience. I recommend the surprisingly good “fish cakes” aka “coddies.” Fried chicken also vg.

I’ve been mulling over the crime data.

    Two conclusions:

The liberal rationalization for high crime stats in the black population is actually wrong.

Social class cannot explain the lopsided interracial r-pe numbers. If poor whites were inclined to r-pe black women to show dominance there would be more than a dozen such cases a year. Indeed there would have to be 10s of 1000s of such cases.

The encounter hypothesis is also wrong especially with sex crimes. A predator seeks out the target or grooms the target. The animus that goes with such acts is hate. Ergo even white sex criminals keep clear.

I just watch Al Jazeera ambush Jared Taylor with the income/class rationalization and it was absurd given the one sided numbers.

The data suggests a situation like that of the Red Army entering Berlin and despoiling the German Madschen.

A Constitutional Republic IS a Democracy, it is a particular form of democracy. A “Constitutional republic” is one of the forms of democracy so it is incorrect to say a “Constitutional republic” isn’t a democracy. The U.S. isn’t the same as every other other form of democracy, so for example it isn’t a direct vote on everything type of democracy but it is a democracy. I thought explaining that it doesn’t make sense to argue that a car is not a vehicle . Just as it doesn’t make sense to insist that a dog is not a mammal. It just does to show how the elites despise the common man that they thought it necessary to try to trick the public into being against democracy or tricking them into thinking the U.S. isn’t a democracy. I am try to help you see an example of elite propaganda. Once you understand this point it could help you to understand what they are up to.

Elites have pushed this “not a democracy BS” (they really hate democracy.) The point is look up the definitions of these words, it is simply incorrect to argue that this isn’t a democracy. It is a specific form of democracy, not all democracies are the same.

Simply look at the definition of democracy. There is no such thing as one form of democracy, there are different forms of democracy. The U.S. is most certainly set up as a form of government that meets the definition of democracy. “a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.” – https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=define%20democracy

Here is a good post on it:
“This is in response to people who want to assert that the United States is not a democracy but a republic. “Democracy” and “Republic” are not mutually exclusive terms. We are a representative democracy and a republic. A republic means that we are not a monarchy.

Definition of “Republic”: A state in which the sovereign power resides in the whole body of the people, and is exercised by representatives elected by them; a commonwealth. Cf. Democracy; a political system in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who can elect people to represent them; a form of government whose head of state is not a monarch; “the head of state in a republic is usually a president” http://www.hyperdictionary.com/dictionary/Republic .

The whole meme that we are not a democracy but a republic is based on a distortion and diminution of the concept of democracy into a single, abstract form of it: a direct and pure democracy. Yes, we do not have THAT form of democracy. We don’t go to the polls to make every single governmental decision.” https://www.facebook.com/notes/join-the-coffee-party-movement/we-are-a-democracy-and-a-republic/434315678538

Think about manipulative elites are that they felt it necessary to push the “we are not a democracy” meme into the public discourse!

.2. FL- the flag was designed after the Civil; maybe the red saltire is the issue?

.3. AL- maybe the red saltire is the issue?

.4. Saltire- per wiki- A saltire is a heraldic symbol in the form of a diagonal cross, like the shape of the letter X. It appears in numerous flags, including those of Scotland and Jamaica, and other coats of arms and seals. A warning sign in the shape of a saltire is also used to indicate the point at which a railway line intersects a road at a level crossing

Does that mean that anything created by a confederate soldier must now be destroyed?

Also, when do when tell Scotland and Jamaica that they are racist and the US forbids their flags to fly?

Found this, thought I would share…
“In the Southern states of the U.S.A. Georgia and several other states that were a part of the Confederate States of America 1861-1865 celebrate April as Confederate History and Heritage Month. The South and the Confederate States of America have been harshly discriminated against and positive historical facts and figures have intentionally been suppressed. Dishonest Northern historians have unfairly caused Southern and Confederate history and its heroes, monuments, memorials, and flags to be regulated to a role of less importance than deserved in American history and to be viewed in a negative perspective by much of the American public.
U.S president Woodrow Wilson is quoted as saying “the role of slavery became the proclaimed cause of the Civil War because it was necessary to put the South at a moral disadvantage by transforming the contest from a war for Independence into a war waged for the maintenance and extension of slavery”. If slavery was all the Southern states wanted they could have kept it without a war or firing a shot. The North offered the South the Corwin Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in March 1861 that would have made slavery permanently legal in America if they would rejoin the union. The South refused and the Constitution of the Confederate States of America banned the international slave trade. Most educated Southerners were in favor of gradual orderly emancipation which would have prevented segregation and Jim Crow laws which were based on Northern black codes.
The words of Confederate General Patrick R. Cleburne who was killed at the battle of Franklin Tennessee on November 30, 1864 are becoming true. “Every man should endeavor to understand the meaning of subjugation before it is too late. It means the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the war; will be impressed by the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit objects for derision”. Political correctness and Socialist Marxist Revisionism are attacking everything Southern and Confederate on national, state, and local levels all across America.

Political correctness and Socialist Marxist Revisionism are attacking everything Southern and Confederate on national, state, and local levels all across America
The Confederate flag represents honor, faith, courage, dignity, integrity, chivalry, Christian values, respect for womanhood, strong family ties, patriotism, self- reliance, limited constitutional federal government, states rights, and belief in the free enterprise system. It symbolizes the noble spirit of the Southern people, the rich heritage, the traditions of the South and the dynamic and vigorous Southern culture. No other symbol so proudly says “Dixie” as the Cross of St. Andrew (Confederate Battle Flag) waving in the breeze. Liberals have falsely indoctrinated many black Americans to believe it represents racism, bigotry, and a painful reminder of slavery. But white Christian Southerners who fly the Confederate Battle Flag are not the enemy of responsible Black Americans who are working to better themselves.

The Confederate flag is the last flag to represent the concept of local control of ones’ life in America. In a larger sense it represents the same values and principles as the original U.S. Betsy Ross Flag: Limited Constitutional Federal Government, States Rights, Resistance to Tyranny, and Christian Principles and Values. Thus it represents “government of the people, by the people, and for the people with the consent of the governed”.

The Confederate flag is an internationally recognized symbol of resistance to tyranny. That is why it was flying over the Berlin Wall when it was being torn down in 1989 and has been flown by numerous countries or provinces seeking independence.

It reminds knowledgeable Americans that government is to be held accountable for its actions, and if those actions are viewed as not being in the best interest of the people, there is a price to be paid for it. This fact has not been lost upon the Socialist, Communist, liberal left and that is why they have spent inordinate amounts of money and energy trying to suppress this powerful symbol of freedom. The Confederate battle flag is a Christian symbol and that is why proponents of Secular Humanism (the belief that there is no God and man, science, and government can solve all problems) oppose it.

The flag also represents the valor and sacrifice of our Southern ancestors in their quest to gain independence and recognition as a sovereign nation. Confederate soldiers displayed tremendous bravery in the face of overwhelming odds and blatant tyranny and aggression on behalf of the Yankee government that invaded the Southern homeland. It was, is, and will continue to be the flag of the region Southerners call home, the Southland. We are Americans, true, but we are also proud Southerners.”

In other words, if it was inappropriate after the tragedy, then it was inappropriate before. As far as the flag itself, the emblem represents the losing side of a war, so it’s prominence will always be more commercial than patriotic or official. Don’t worry, someone will still be there to make money from it; and as far as Wal-mart not having room because of their other overstocked items, certainly all that Duck Dynasty crap would have to qualify.
