jockey_offering_million_in_prizes_if_tim_tebow_wins_super_bowl(USA Today) Tim Tebow’s contract with the Philadelphia Eagles includes no guarantees.
It’s a typical, one-year, $660,000 deal that comes without a signing bonus or other guaranteed money, according to contract details obtained by USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday.
The $660,000 base salary — due in weekly installments of $38,824 during the regular season as long as Tebow’s on the team — is the minimum for a three-year veteran, which he is.
If Tebow is cut before the season, the Eagles owe him nothing other than standard stipends, including $195 for each day participating in offseason workouts and $1,800 a week in training camp. (read more)

MONEYBALL – Beginning with the class of ’83 the game fundamentally changed. All games between are transitional to today’s roster expectation. In the era of Kelly, Montana, Marino, Elway, 300 pound O-liners’ were a rare sight – even on the line.  And then Da Bears brought in a “Fridge”. Which led to New England “who” – Crushed.
Today a 300lb O-Line candidate is considered too scant. The flex pocket transitioned in 80’s and 90’s to an immovable wall today.  Orlando Pace was example of transitional defense fodder as the evolutionary tests continued.
Needed now Offensive Line 6’3″ or better; 350lb bricks ‘minimum’ create the wall. QB’s now 6’5″ plus w/ quick releases. Imagine how silly Doug Flutie would look today.
D-Lines responded 90’s – 00’s with power first, then speed, to compensate for size of fortress now built around the QB. Those looking for cracks in the wall are 275lb’s, fast and strong. Transitionally the running possibilities became essentially nil. Running backs now hold bench next to punters awaiting a call to service.
odell-beckham-jr-catchQB expectation is to grab, target, deliver. 2.867 to 3.482 seconds ONLY. On the other side is 6’6″ acrobatic wide outs/high jumpers; or a 6’6-8″ Tight End outlet.
Downfield 4.3 to 4.4 sec 40/yd speed CRITICAL because at QB release the ball headed to location 40 to 60% away from intended target. Defensive backs must be as quick or quicker, twitchy quick. Both safety’s now essentially look like D-Backs.
Football becoming Roboball.
These are all the practical reasons why people say that Tim Tebow cannot be successful.
Perhaps they’re right.
But you’ll still find me cheering for him.
….because Tebow plays for the love of the game; not just in football, but in life.  And to many fans, that means something very special.

Never bet against goodness.
To those who say “Tim Tebow can’t win” – my response remains the same:

That’s not his goal. Tim Tebow does not focus on winning himself, Tebow focuses on making everyone around him a winner.

Put that spirit in a team, or a town, and the score really doesn’t matter.
