Carrier Smidgen – Elijah Cummings

Last Monday:

Last April:

FLASHBACK APRIL IBD […] On Feb. 6, in a subcommittee hearing that heard the testimony of Catherine Engelbrecht — founder of True the Vote, who was targeted by the IRS, FBI and other federal agencies — Cummings vehemently denied having any contact or coordination in targeting True the Vote.

Responding, attorney Cleta Mitchell, who is representing True the Vote, indicated that staff on the committee had been involved in communication with the IRS. In short, Cummings was not telling the truth.

After the hearing, Engelbrecht filed a formal ethics complaint accusing the Maryland Democrat of trying to intimidate her by causing the targeting.

Cummings on three separate occasions had sent letters with his title on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee stating that he had concerns and that True the Vote should be investigated.

Emails released by House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, a California Republican, show that Cummings’ Democratic staff had requested information from the IRS’ tax-exempt division, the one headed by Lois Lerner, on True the Vote, a conservative group that monitors polling places for voter fraud and supports the use of voter IDs, something Cummings opposes.

“The IRS and the Oversight Minority made numerous requests for virtually identical information from True the Vote, raising concerns that the IRS improperly shared protected taxpayer information with Rep. Cummings’ staff,” the Oversight panel said in a statement.

According to Issa, Cummings and his staff sought “copies of all training materials used for volunteers, affiliates or other entities” from True the Vote.

Five days later, the group received an almost identical request from the IRS for (1) “a copy of (True the Vote’s) volunteer registration form,” (2) “the process you use to assign volunteers,” (3) “how you keep your volunteers in teams” and (4) “how your volunteers are deployed … following the training they receive by you.”

As Townhall.com reports, the first contact between the IRS and Cummings’ staffers about True the Vote happened in August 2012.

On Jan. 25, 2013, Cummings’ staff asked for more information from the IRS about the group.

Three days after that, Lerner wrote an email to her deputy, Holly Paz, asking, “Did we find anything?”

Paz responded by saying not yet, to which Lerner replied, “Thanks, check tomorrow please.”

On Jan. 31, Paz sent True the Vote’s 990 forms to Cummings’ staff.

“Although you have previously denied that your staff made inquiries to the IRS about conservative organization True the Vote that may have led to additional agency scrutiny, communication records between your staff and IRS officials — which you did not disclose to majority members or staff — indicates otherwise,” states a letter to Cummings from Issa and five other subcommittee chairmen.  (read more)

I really wish someone involved in these hearings, be it Issa, Gowdy, or anyone, would have the stones to look one of these prevaricators in the face, once caught in the act, and say for the record, “You are a liar,” and just let it sink in for a moment with cameras rolling.

Senator John McCain, a RINO or Undercover Democrat (arguably the same thing), died before he was forced to publicly answer for all he was guilty of. The USS Forrestal dry fire incident which killed 134 and injured 161 sailors and destroyed much of the ship was a tone setting precedent for how his life was destined to unfold. He was an evil man and arguably the worst American to have ever lived but was sent to Hell as a hero with a week long dog and pony media event book ended by 2 funerals.

John McCain escaped accountability all his life except for having to deal with knowing how horrible he actually was and all of the disgusting actions he took that caused people.

Looks like Cummins might be in the same boat.

  4. His skin color as usual is a vaccination against scrutiny, accountability or punishment. “Reperation”, I guess, comes in many forms. I no longer recognize the Nation my family fought to gain, and since has fought to retain. I feel so bad for my two nephews currently serving, that they have to do so under such a vile administration and it’s despicable abettors and supporters. Also, this perpetual “sour stomach” feeling, this DREAD of what has been already done and the FEAR of what is to come leaves me with little hope that people…. my grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc., will EVER know freedom and liberty, self determination, that once…in MY lifetime were a “given” expectation. But then, I tell myself….what you have never known, you cannot miss. Still…as precious as they are despite their unrealised loss of the forementioned God given Blessings, I still pity the fact that they will never know what “might have been”. The debacle on Tuesday in Mississippi illustrates the effectiveness of the Democrat policy of keeping blacks dependent, like a school of Koi that gather en masse at the time and place of their feeding, they in their obedience and training perform as expected. The insanity of the time never stops! I’m ALMOST ready for that EMP that will stop this multidaily influx of pure UNBELIEVEABILITY that hourly shocks, stuns an OFFENDS me. I guess I WILL have another glassful of the purple “drank”…I want my Country back!!!

Pelosi probably put Cummings on this investigative committee so he could stymie the IRS investigation and cover his own butt. In return, he works in the background to help Pelosi cover up what happened in Benghazi. They’re like two cats in the same litter box, desperately scratching kitty litter over humongous turds.

        Probable Cause for Arrest
Probable cause for arrest exists when facts and circumstances within the police officer’s knowledge would lead a reasonable person to believe that the suspect has committed, is committing, or is about to commit a crime. Probable cause must come from specific facts and circumstances, rather than simply from the officer’s hunch or suspicion.

I need help. I am trying to figure out the reason Learner planted the question about targeting in the press so she could answer it in the first place. Anybody know? I can’t seem to put it in the fact pattern. I think the reason might be a tell. It was purposeful but to what purpose.

What does that teach you about the largely black Mississippi DemocRATS also? Media were reporting even ministers (ain’t unusual for politicians of every stripe down here to pay them off) were pushing their flocks to vote for Cochran as McDaniels would cut food stamps. Let’s see if the MSM will talk about that – whoops, nope, looked in the ‘MSM BS for Dummies’ index and that part was missing. You betcha that Republicans vote for DemocRATS too when it’s expedient and the faucet’s turned on – you just don’t have the same ‘we all know it’s going on’ attitude we have down here. I refer you to the Edwin Edwards/David Duke gubernatorial race (yeah, unintended pun there) in 1991 – how many Republicans do you think voted for DemocRAT Edwards?

    the story of Elijah Cummings:
A review of state and federal records and interviews with associates provide a picture of a man who has spent years warding off debt collectors, juggling unpaid tax bills and paying to support several children.
Those problems were mounting even as Cummings, a public official for 17 years, was becoming a highly popular and influential figure. In his district, Cummings is regarded by some constituents as a surrogate mayor, and he frequently plays host to Cabinet officials and President Clinton when they visit Baltimore.
Only this year, the Democratic congressman said, has he shaken free of most of his debts. He had previously characterized his difficulties as those born of his decision in late 1995 to run for Congress after Rep. Kweisi Mfume announced that he would resign.
    Among his most serious troubles:
In the mid-1990s, the Internal Revenue Service filed court papers declaring that Cummings was legally obliged to pay more than $30,000 in unpaid federal taxes. He finished paying those taxes earlier this year.
Cummings appears to have violated campaign finance law by having a donor co-sign a loan that supplied $15,000 for his first House campaign, attorneys knowledgeable about that law say.
In five instances, creditors went to court to force Cummings to pay a total of $24,000 in overdue debts.
Cummings said he has been short of money, in part, because he helps to support three children: his college-age daughter with his now-estranged wife and two children he fathered by other women out of wedlock — a 16-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter. Cummings said he paid about $30,000 last year in child support and tuition payments.

The congressman has referred to his younger daughter in many speeches. But until now, he has never publicly acknowledged the existence of his son. The teen-ager lives with his mother in Baltimore.

Is there a politician anywhere that ISN’T so low that they have to look UP to see DOWN? Cummings is an embarrassment to a once well thought of Congress. And THAT’S getting pretty low in itself since Congress enjoys NO respect from it’s forced subjects………… It’s only fair since Congress has shown that it has no respect for “We, The People”………..

Sorry but I don’t feel anything but happy to hear that we have one less Corrupt Politician in Washington. This is probably a good thing for the black community as well since cummings has done more to hurt them than help. He is a Big part of the bastardization of the civil rights movement and one of the big purveyors of the race grievance industry.
It’s just a shame more of them haven’t left politics the same way. Because you know that is the only way you can get them out of there. Greed is a very powerful magnet and it makes people do evil things. He was a very greedy and corrupt person and we are much better off today with out him. I hope Nancy or Biden or even Schiff make the next headline for the same reason very soon.
