Wednesday Open Thread – February 5th

Tomb of the Unknown ChristmasOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Old Soviets used to wipe out internal investors/savers by revaluating the worthless Rube. Our government doesn’t have to do that, they have the Fed to play with the dollar’s underpinnings. I can remember going to Russia in the 60s when people on the street used to try and give us up to 10-times the official Ruble/Dollar exchange rate as the dollar was a solid currency they could trade underground (same with Polish Zloty and Czech Koruna) with and save for an escape. Can’t wait until we start black marketing dollars to Chinese tourists above the state-established exchange rates for the same reasons.

Might be time to put the Benghazi incident onto simmer for a while as it appears Syria’s coming apart in the Offal Office. Kerry’s supposed to have said, in a private off-the-record meeting with a group of Congressmen, that the Administration’s Syria policy just ain’t working. One might say this is just some Republicans posturing but the Secretary, just last September, rather openly suggested that the POtuS’s lack of backbone led to Assad using chemical weapons against his own people. We also have the Syrian peace talks caving in (gee, who’d have thought THAT could happen?), all of the major Fed intel heads testifying before Congress that Syria’s falling apart and poses a real danger to Europe and the US – hinting that a lack of US leadership has caused the problem, and al Qaeda forces flowing into Syria at a steady rate.
Israel and Iran are dead silent, uncomfortably dead silent, about the Syrian mess, the Russians are antsy and (as I posted) I believe are seriously looking at upping their ground and air presence there, the Gulf states are as nervous as Hillary in a Church because Syria falling under fundamentalist rule bodes serious problems for them, Turkey’s looking at the rats the US had it feed and foster becoming a torrent of trouble all along its Syrian border, Lebanon’s looking at a large chunk of its population hatting-up and leaving as the Fundamentalist rebel strength on its Syrian border increases, and the POtuS is…bitching about Fox News.
I’m hoping that cooler heads motivated by pure self-interest will broker something that will ratchet down the Oh SH*T! factors piling up in Syria, uncork the bottle and let it breathe, or the Benghazi incident could seem like a hiccup in the not too distant future.
The POtuS has screwed the pooch on this one, let’s see if he can back out of it before we get bit on the national butt.

    George Zimmerman

    Boxing Match Set!!!

2/4/2014 8:48 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

It’s official … X gonna give it to George Zimmerman — TMZ has learned, rapper DMX has just been named Zimmerman’s opponent in his upcoming celebrity boxing match.

Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman tells us, DMX was selected out of 15,000 applicants … all of whom wanted a piece of Zimmerman in the ring after he issued the open challenge to fight anyone willing to take him.

But no one wanted to beat Zimmerman’s ass more than DMX.

As we first reported, DMX promised to massacre Zimmerman in the ring if he got the chance. To be exact, he said, “I am going to beat the living f**k out him … I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f**k him right up.” He then said he’d literally piss on George’s face.

Zimmerman might actually have a chance though — as we reported, he’s been training pretty hard for months … oh yeah, and he’s only 30 years old. DMX is 43.

The boxing match will be 3 rounds.

The date, time, and location of the fight will be announced at a news conference next Wednesday.

I remember that our company participated in a Russian trade show back in the late 1970’s (I think). My friend, Linda, attended. She told me some very strange stories. One thing was that the Coke machine dispensed product into a cup – except that the cup was a glass that everybody shared. You dispensed, drank your beverage, then put the cup back for the next person.

I tossed my discount “loyalty” card/closed account last year after @15 years of shopping at the store when I got a coupon postcard with giant sized address of my name/street & picture of what I had bought recently that said something like “have you enjoyed your purchase of xyz? Here is a money saving coupon for a future purchase.”
When I called CVS to close the loyalty account the customer service rep agreed & totally understood my dismay at having my purchase being revealed to the world.

“Arkancide is the unfortunate habit of potential witnesses to the Clintons’ dirty dealings in Arkansas suddenly deciding to shoot themselves twice in the back of the head. Police and Coroners in Arkansas, notably Fahmy Malak who answered to Governor Bill Clinton, automatically described these shootings as “suicides.”

“After Bill Clinton became President the phenomenon spilled over to Washington D.C. when Hillary Clinton’s ex-lover Vincent Foster was “Arkancided.”

Interesting read on-line, but also available at bookstores, this covers not only on George H. W. Bush, but the workings of our leadership in general from the turn-of-the-century forward.

Combined with “American Betrayal” by Diana West on the era between WWI and WWII, “The Venona Secrets” by Romerstein/Breindel and several other books on these topics, one can begin to see how our world has become way too complicated to be left to self-absorbed politicians acting as chess players and using our lives and taxes to manipulate a New World Order at whim.

Evidence he handled came from 80 law enforcement agencies from 35 counties.“

“Graves was arrested Tuesday, a day after he resigned from his position at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab in Pensacola. He is charged with grand theft of a controlled substance, 12 counts of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, and nine counts of trafficking in illegal drugs.”

“The Tybee Island B-47 crash was an incident on February 5, 1958, in which the United States Air Force lost a 7,600-pound (3,400 kg) Mark 15 nuclear bomb in the waters off Tybee Island near Savannah, Georgia, United States. During a practice exercise, the B-47 bomber carrying the bomb collided in midair with an F-86 fighter plane. To protect the aircrew from a possible detonation in the event of a crash, the bomb was jettisoned. Following several unsuccessful searches, the bomb was presumed lost somewhere in Wassaw Sound off the shores of Tybee Island.”

Let’s exempt certain asylum-seeking illegals who provided “limited material support” to terrorists without passing it by Congress. Unlike our Senators and Representatives who we can hound when they do some dunderheaded act, we voters have no way to vote out these czars and appointed leaders that Congress has not approved.
