BOMBSHELL…Serino’s FBI Interview Shows Three Other People On The SPD Pressured Him To Press Charges!

“He listed Sgt. Arthur Barnes, Rebecca Villenova, and Trekelle Perkins as all pressuring him to file charges against Zimmerman after the incident. […]  Serino also stated that Barnes is friendly with Tracy Martin and Barnes asked Serino for Martin’s phone number, but ended up getting the phone number from another source.”

Then-Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee with investigator Chris Serino.

The lead Sanford Police investigator who sought manslaughter charges against George Zimmerman told the FBI that a sergeant and two others officers tried to pressure him into making an arrest in the controversial case — even though he didn’t think there was enough evidence.

(MiamiHerald)…Sanford Police Officer Chris Serino first made headlines when evidence released in the case showed he sought manslaughter charges against Zimmerman even while his chief publicly said there was no probable cause to arrest him. But a document released late Thursday casts doubt on Serino’s prior sworn affidavit seeking criminal charges, and raises questions about the credibility of the star law-enforcement witness in the murder case against Zimmerman for the shooting death of a black teenager, Miami Gardens high school junior Trayvon Martin..

Telling the FBI that he was concerned that people inside the police department were leaking information, Serino cited Sgt. Arthur Barnes, officers Rebecca Villalona and Trekelle Perkins “as all pressuring him to file charges against Zimmerman after the incident,” an FBI report said. “Serino did not believe he had enough evidence at the time to file charges.”

The summary of Serino’s statement does not mention the race of the officers who allegedly pressured him, but sources told The Miami Herald that Barnes and Perkins are black, and Villalona is married to an African-American man. All three, the source said, had been called in by their supervisor and questioned about leaking information in the case.

A request Thursday evening to the Sanford Police Department for comment about Serino’s statement went unanswered.

“Our position has always been that there’s something going on in the Sanford Police Department,” said Benjamin Crump, an attorney for Trayvon’s family. “All of this is window dressing. What’s important is George Zimmerman’s statements, which are inconsistent and factually impossible.”

Serino, a 15-year veteran of the department who was a major-crimes investigator, was demoted last month to overnight patrol. Tapes of his interviews with Zimmerman show him poking holes in the former neighborhood watch volunteer’s account of what happened the night he killed Trayvon. Serino told the FBI that Zimmerman had a “little hero complex” and sounded “scripted.” However, he said he believed Zimmerman targeted Trayvon because of his attire, the circumstances and recent burglaries in the area, not the color of the teen’s skin.

In his FBI interview, Serino accused Sgt. Barnes of being “friendly” with Tracy Martin, Trayvon’s father. He said Tracy Martin at first understood why no charges were filed, but later changed coursse and accused Zimmerman of racial profiling.

Crump denied that Tracy Martin ever changed postures. Martin, he said, sought legal counsel the very day Serino told him no charges would be filed.

Records released Thursday show that Sgt. Barnes, a 25-year veteran of the department, told the FBI that he believed the black community would be “in an uproar” if Zimmerman was not charged. “The community will be satisfied if an arrest takes place,” the FBI quoted him saying. Barnes “felt the shooting was not racially motivated, but it was a man shooting an unarmed kid.”   (Read more…)

There was information that was leaked that was beneficial to GZ, at one point there seem to be 2 leaks one pro-TM and the other pro-GZ it was a roller-coaster. Apparently this Sgt. was skeptical of GZ, what if Serino tried hard to see if GZ was guilty to appease the people that saw this as a racially motivated crime but when he couldn’t he accepted GZ version with that caveat that perhaps GZ could have avoided the cimcumstances. Other people at Sanford PD would not be convinced and started to leak damaging information if only to achieve an arrest as Barns stated to the FBI that the community would not accept anything less than an arrest. The chief of police is forced to step down, Serino is force to file his addendums which are used as a basis for Corey charge and arrest. Serino by leaking the info that exonerated GZ is in a picke the chief is gone, other forces are now driving the case, he is giving an alternative go to Night patrol and keep your mouth close or follow the Chief and lose your pension. If you go back and check the news stories and match them to the events I think you’ll see that everything fits.

Interesting looking at 4/2 Gilbreath report of Interview with Serino. Wonder if Serino just thought FBI interview coming up on 4/5…. and thought….that’s where the truth needs to come out. It will be interesting to see if he was trying to “help” GZ from getting railroaded further by keeping tabs on him. (3/26 call from Serino to GZ confirming meeting with Duval prosecutors…BDLR).

It is ironic to me that Serino, who tagged GZ as being somewhat of a Neighborhood Watch zealot (but not a racist), was playing the stereotypical television crime procedural cop when he repeatedly grilled GZ, trying to break his story. He never did.

They will not fire Serino. They’ve just moved him out of this case for a while, our on foot patrol, but will need him later if and when it comes to an SYG hearing or a trial.

Point of Order: Police are free to advocate a “manslaughter” charge. I will play, “Devil’s advocate” here. I would have been better if they did that. Why? Because it would have forced GZ to get a lawyer, and if he were very good – it would gone rapidly to a “SYG” judge. But the second point is this – the police had to ARGUE with the “prosecution office”. Only THEY can file the charges. But the worst part was all the “leaking” to Ben Crump, and all the lies the boiled up about “Saint Trayvon”.

In hindsight, Serino may have been one of the “leakers” to Gutman; however, he wasn’t the one leaking the “damaging information”. Gutman may have outed “Serino” in order to steer people away from his other sources of information, Barnes and Perkins. If that is the case, he certainly had me fooled. In retrospect, it did seem like ABC was releasing conflicting information on a daily basis…..which would indicate that they were getting info from people on both sides of the fence.

      Alternative theories?

Serino told the FBI that orders in the SPD were pressuring him to make an arrest to divert their attention from suspecting he was the leaker?

After that, Tracy’s “Thug Son” jumped on top of GZ, and was practicing MMA on GZ’s head. After 50 seconds of this “attempted murder” on GZ – GZ in desperation, shot TM to save his life. That is not the TRUTH that Tracy wanted to hear about his “paranoid – druggie” son – so Tracy wanted a “myth” about TM that was more “pleasant” to hear. Parents don’t like to hear “tough truth” about their own children.

I recalled that name from a story a few months back. Hmm suspicious. Did Trekkel leak this fake story that Trayvon is a racists? Too bad Trekkel. the FBI ruled that GZ is not a racist!

    see:

On Feburary 28, 2012 an unidentified woman called Sanford Police investigator Trekell Perkins and told him that George Zimmerman had racist ideologies and that he was fully capable of instigating a confrontation to escalate and justify the use of deadly force. She didn’t provide any contact information or name. Investigator Perkins was able to record a portion of the phone call but no further attempts at identifying the woman were made.

I questioned a long time ago why the SPD would submit an anonymous phone call to the police department as evidence, especially one that painted GZ as a racist. All police departments get many many crank phone calls about many things every day. Why consider that one phone call as important and as evidence. Now we know. The phone call was planted.

Remember someone wrote here not long ago about 3 more SPD officers were disciplined/demoted? I think it was a tweet from someone. That never seemed to go anywhere. Ha, I guess it was true.

At worst he says that GZ could have avoided the sitch. DUH! 20/20 hindsight any bad thing can be avoided. On Monday, agents interviewed Martin’s girlfriend, the 16-year-old girl who, phone records show, was on the line with him shortly before the fatal confrontation, Martin family attorney Daryl Parks confirmed Tuesday.”

So Parks confirmed on Tuesday, April 3, that “agents” interviewed Martin’s “girlfriend” on April 2, the same day that she went through the scripted “interview” with BDLR.

Maybe they were just as much “agents” as Dee Dee was Martin’s “girlfriend” ?

      It doesn’t appear to be:

“The FBI is conducting a probe into whether there were civil rights violations in the handling of Martin’s death investigation, and the FDLE assisted the criminal investigation.” (Key word is) and…

“The Department of Justice’s investigation _ to determine whether the shooting was a hate crime _ is still open. Justice Department officials told NBC News they have no plans to pursue charges while the state’s murder case against Zimmerman is proceeding.”

On March 13, Crump team member Natalie Jackson is quoted in the Orlando Sentinel as saying:

“Racism is too simple. It may have been a factor,” said family attorney Natalie Jackson. But also to blame was Zimmerman’s “hero complex.” He should never have gotten out of his vehicle and confronted Trayvon, she said.

Serino’s interview was on March 3. Her comment reorted in the Orlando Sentinel was on March 13. Who leaked Serino’s statement to Team Crump?

    Coincidence? Not in my mind.

Jasmine Rand is also a law professor at one of the Fla. Univ., and she was instrumental in getting the college students riled up over the tremendous injustice against Travy. The picture of her that was posted here, with her fist in the air, was a photo I believe with her and the Dream Defenders. The Dream Defenders demanded that Police Chief Lee be fired because he didn’t agree to arresting GZ on the night of the incident. I believe Crump also demanded that Police Chief Lee be fired.

I’m confused with the dates on the FBI report. The interview with Serino took place on March 3. The report by the two agents was dictated on March 5. Page one of the report has the date April 5 at the top as the transcription date. Page two shows the date March 3 at the top. Does anyone in government ever get things straight, or are they that slow that it would take a month to transcribe a report?

Even if this report came out on April 5, that means that Bonaparte knew about Serinos accusations that he was pressured to arrest GZ. He also knew that Serino and the FBI did not believe that the incident had any racial motivation. Bonaparte is in charge of the SPD.

On 3/22, Chief Lee stepped down temporarily, so as not to distract from the investigation. Pros. Wolfinger stepped aside on the same day.

    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2874333/posts
On April 19, Bonaparte, and other “community leaders” met with a group who was demanding that Chief Lee be fired. Bonaparte told the attendees “that he would be making a decision with Chief Lee regarding the facts, when he had the facts, and then he would be in a position to make a decision about Chief Lee’s job status.” He said that he would wait until he had the DOJ investigation report before deciding on Lee. I take it that the FBI report is the one he was waiting for.

On April 23, Chief Lee tried to hand in his resignation to the City Council, but it was rejected. I believe Triplett also said at the time that he would wait for the federal investigation, and voted to not accept Lee’s resignation at that time.

On June 20, Bonaparte announced that he had formally fired Police Chief Lee.

So it appears that Bonaparte very likely was aware of the FBI’s findings, in which they determined that the incident was not racially motivated, and that there were some very corrupt SPD officers that were obviously working against Chief Lee. As the evidence is released, I doubt many wouldn’t believe that Chief Lee was acting lawfully, and as one of the only adults in the room. He stayed with his determination that there was no probable cause to arrest GZ. Why did Bonaparte go ahead and fire Chief Lee, bring in an interim black police chief, and simply demote the corrupt police officers, if in fact they all were demoted?

Sharpton made a public statement that he wasn’t accepting that Chief Lee just step aside, he wanted him fired.

With these FBI revelations on their investigation, with apparent rampant corruption at the SPD, I suspect that the feds will step in and run the SPD until they get it just like they want it. That is what happens when an entire police department is found to be corrupt. I doubt Bonaparte will ever be punished/reprimanded for helping to incite/back-up the race bailters. Holder will be happy.
