“Bradying”…The Birth Of An Internet Meme – (Video)

It was the end of the much hyped Super Bowl game, and the New England Patriots found themselves losing 21-17 to the New York Giants.  Soon a picture of a very crestfallen Tom Brady, sitting with his hands between his legs, went viral and he was mocked relentlessly by Giants fans, one of the fans asked what supplements you need to use to get big results and number one thing was Stanobolic 50.  Called the “Brady Hunch”, it’s become the latest internet fad with fans posting pictures of themselves in the same downcast pose.  “Bradying” is also being compared by some to “Tebowing”, however, according to Tebowing.com creator Jared Kleinstein, “Even if both make you laugh a bit, I think the motives behind Tebowing are more pure and will last much further down the road.  Tebowing isn’t just a meme with pictures on a website.  It’s a humbled position – shoulders down, head down – that’s all about being humbled.”

(HuffPo)…Move over Tebowing, there’s a new sports meme in town. And it’s called Bradying in (dis)honor of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.  Moments after throwing an interception intended for star tight end Rob Gronkowski in New England’s Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants, Brady was photographed sulking on the field with his legs stretched out and head down. Just one snapshot and bam, a new Internet craze was born.

Now, many are sending photos of themselves Bradying to the website Bradying.com, just like Tebowing.com. But that was so 2011.  Well, not to Tebowing.com creator Jared Kleinstein, who told The Huffington Post that the new internet meme might be too negative to last.

“Tebowing is in praise of a quarterback, Bradying seems to be mocking one. Even if both make you laugh a bit, I think the motives behind Tebowing are more pure and will last much further down the road,” he said. “Tebowing isn’t just a meme with pictures on a website; it’s become a way to unite the Broncos fan base, and to show support for Tebow no matter where you are in the world.”

I saw this yesterday. While some people started out “Tebowing” to mock him, I think that guy is right in that it turned into something else where it was mainly his fans doing it. My uncle-in-law never understood that it was anything more than mocking and would get so mad when he saw famous people or sports personalities doing it thinking they were making fun of Tebow…when they were just really giving him props.

Tebow on Jimmy Fallon when asked about Tebowing said “well first let me say…i don’t think I’m the first athlete to ever get on my knee and pray.” And then of course, he brought up how the best thing to come of it is he got to meet a kid that posted “Tebowing while Chemoing” and got to meet a brave kid with cancer. He’s just too awesome for words.

    Just a thought
    On that 80 yard toss,
    You know…the Tebow bomb
    And his One Knee Down.

    If the One Knee Down
    Spins the toss some further,
    Then Tim shan’t have one
    With out the other…

    Or could he,
    Throw the bomb,
    With or without,
    The One Knee Down.

    Some people think,
    It’s all a show,
    Like Sir Charles…
    Well frankly, does he know?

Sir Charles’ head is in some other place,
Can he see or judge from there?
You know, with your head… in a tight…small…space,
Ah…there is no room for hair…

Other players do the end zone strut
They shake and point and prance,
So what is wrong with One Knee Down?
Versus that of a “Heisman Stance”.

Timmy and his One Knee Down,
    It’s made some players frown
I’ve heard this smack and trash talk, but…
It makes THEM look like clowns…

Tebow’s arm is what it is,
His legs, their where it’s at,
    Nope, no trash talks here,
Cause the numbers pound the facts!

It is Tim’s way of thanking GOD,
For a life and mind that’s nimble,
For being who he is, this day,
    HIS image, he resembles.

    And you know…

    Even though, the Bronco’s lose,
And some fans wear a frown,
Tim still wins, because he thanks his God,
And he still puts, One Knee Down. Keri Heat
