Obama: Hey, Let’s Reward Egypt’s Merciless Slaughter of Christians With a New Financial Aid Package…  (Excerpt Via NRO)  …But foreign aid is never popular, and Americans are not particularly enamored with those promoting the uprising in Egypt, with deep suspicions that Islamists are using this uprising to shape a future Egypt that is less free, even less tolerant of Coptic Christian rights, even more anti-Israel, even more hostile to women’s rights, and even more friendly to our enemies. Which is why I foresee great political risk from this upcoming move:……………..

President Barack Obama will announce this week a new aid plan for the Middle East and North Africa that U.S. officials say will be far bolder than previous American economic assistance to the region.
Mr. Obama will outline the plan, which could include debt cancellation and a reprogramming of financial aid the U.S. already provides to countries like Egypt, in a speech he is scheduled to deliver Thursday at the State Department.

So in addition to the perception that we’re sending a big batch of new aid to a government whose intentions and true loyalties are unclear, we’ll be irking the fiscal conservatives as well.
The closest thing to a budget-cutting consensus among the public is cutting foreign aid, with 59 percent supportive and 37 percent opposed. No other proposal tops 46 percent in support. (An earlier poll had 71 percent suggesting foreign aid should be cut.)  (read more)
I fully expect Obama to distance the United States from Israel and undermine her sovereignty in his speech tomorrow.  I expect him to outline a policy of Palestinian appeasement.   I expect him to duck and avoid the hypocrisy between Syrian slaughter and nothing being done, against Libyan potential slaughter and all out war.  I expect him to reach out again to those in the Middle East who hate us, and show more naivety regarding perceptions of strength.  But, I did not think he would be arrogant enough to propose financial aid to those countries who are undermining any consideration of democracy in favor of radical islamic states.   This foreign policy is fundamentally flawed…./SD
