I Still havn’t figured out which spelling is correct, the guy has more variations than there are Chins in a chinese phone book…. but I digress…. Here is the latest roundup 😉 Gaddafi: “Those Who Don’t Love Me Do Not Deserve to Live”… (snip) sounds eerily familiar ROME, FEBRUARY 25 — “Those who don’t love me do not deserve to live, it will be hell for them”. This is the message from Muammar Gaddfi, who has made a speech to crowds in Tripoli that was broadcast live on television.
The colonel appeared before supporters of his regime in Green Square, propped up against the wall of a government building. “Prepare to defend Libya,” Gaddafi cried, his fist raised. “Arms deposits are open to arm the people and together we will fight, defeat and kill those who are protesting”.
“Look Europe. Look America, this is the Libyan people, this is the result of the revolution. The revolution has revived Omar Al Mukhtar, we will fight for the land of Libya,” Gaddafi continued. “We defeated Italian invaders and in the same way we will defeat any foreign attempt against us. We will fight, we will fight to regain every piece of Libyan land. We will defeat them as we defeated Italian colonialism”. “Look, I am among you: dance, sing and be happy,” Gaddafi ended, greeting the crowd and leaving the square. (article)
However despite his insane rants and raves to the contrary thinks might not be going so well in the real world around him. (WSJ) — Embattled Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi is set to be deserted by another close ally after his Ukrainian nurse said she was heading home. Galyna Kolotnytska, described in a diplomatic cable published by Wikileaks as a “voluptuous blond” who “travel[s] everywhere” with Col. Gadhafi, called her family in Kiev on Friday to say she intends to return to Ukraine, her daughter told daily Segodnya.
“Mom got in touch yesterday. She said she was now in Tripoli,” Tetyana Kolotnytska said. “She spoke in a calm voice, asked us not to worry and said she’d soon be home.”
According to the cable from September 2009, contacts in Tripoli told U.S. diplomats that Col. Gadhafi “relies heavily” on Ms. Kolotnytska, then 38, as “she alone ‘knows his routine.’” The cable also reported claims from unnamed sources that the eccentric Libyan leader and the nurse, part of a retinue of four Ukrainians, “have a romantic relationship.”
Ms. Kolotnytska’s daughter said her mother had been in Libya for nine years, originally employed in a hospital before starting work for Col. Gadhafi. “Other Ukrainian women also work for him as *ahem* “nurses“. Mom is one of them,” she said. “For some reason, he doesn’t trust Libyan women with this matter.” (read more)

Meanwhile following on the heels of Obama “NOT asking for Gadhafi to step down” (for those of you just joining us that is not a misprint – Obama has NOT)    (RCP) — White House press secretary Jay Carney says it is up to the Libyan people to decide if Gaddafi should go. “I would repeat what i just said, and because it is a matter for the people of Libya to decide it is also clear that the people of Libya have continued use of deadly violence, his clear violations of human rights are totally unacceptable,” Carney said. ……. Obama has made a decision to rely on “Pantsuits” Clinton and the United Nations to take action. But something strange on that front too. While the U.N. was/is in emergency session to decide upon the resolution/action our United States Ambassador Susan Rice is not even there. Yep, she is ABSENT (like Obama voting in Senate absent).   Seriously, she is not there. Serious. I’m not kidding.   She is at a Global Sustainability – Carbon Emmissions Conference in Cape Town, South Africa:
(NY Post) — The UN Security Council convened an emergency session yesterday to draft sanctions against Libyan mad- dog Moammar Khadafy. But as the UN struggled to put out the fires in the Mideast, America’s top UN rep was nowhere to be found. In fact, US Ambassador Susan Rice was 8,000 miles away from UN headquarters, taking tea in South Africa with fellow diplonuts.
South Africa? What the hell?
Rice flew to sunny Cape Town this week for a “global sustainability” conference to discuss carbon emissions and green economies in the Third World. (read more)
Perhaps if Khadafy (ohh new spelling) threatened to, err, I dunno, maybe make less bovine farts instead of just merely machine gunning down his people in the streets -to the tune of thousands of dead bodies – Obama and Ms. Rice would pay some attention. Just a thought..   Then again Ms. Rice did find time in amid her busy ‘Green Initiative’ exploits to condemn Israel last week.   Huh, funny that. Priorities and all… ya know.   Oh’, and just an fyi missing the only Security Council meeting on the Middle East revolution was not Rice’s first absence from high profile UN business. Rice was absent when the UN held an emergency Security Council meeting on Israel’s raid of a ship headed to Gaza and when Iran was elected to the UN Women’s Commission. Rice also failed to speak out when Libya was elected to the UN Human Rights Council in May 2010. But then again, I digress….
