You might have noticed all, if not, most, of the professional political class pointed out last week the Democrat Machine had dropped funding ads for Kentucky candidate Alison Grimes. They do so while simultaneously pointing out that means Democrats have conceded the seat.

They’re wrong. Massively and insufferably wrong.
The absolute smartest hand to play in Kentucky is to stop spending “visible” money on an opposition candidate and work diligently, hell, exclusively, on Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) efforts.
The conservative base in Kentucky is in sleeper mode with a dyed-in-the-wool establishment candidate like Mitch McConnell. There is nothing about McConnell that will surge the needed base to once again hold their nose and vote for him.
McConnell and BoehnerBeen there, done that – aint doing it again – is the general sentiment.
Absent of any real reason to vote for a candidate they just don’t like, the Republican Conservative base is not going to show up come election day. So the real opportunity for the democrat challenger is just to get their voters to the polls.
If the Democrats can get a strong GOTV effort done Grimes will win. Period.
So there’s no reason to waste Democrat resources on TV ads and additional expenditures to spotlight their candidate. The real money is just get the base to the polling stations and take the victory.
Of course there is one way that Mitch McConnell could, repeat “could”, squeak out a victory – but it will never happen.
wine-snob-manIf Mitch McConnell vowed NOT to run for Senate Majority Leader he might just stand a fighting chance. But the pontificating arrogance of the establishment class will never consider such an approach – Good Grief, could you imagine.
Nope.
So long as Mitch McConnell is viewed as the next majority leader in the Senate there’s nothing about that outlook that even remotely lends motivation to voting on his behalf. Heck, darn near everyone who IS ‘conservative’ in Kentucky can’t stand the jackass. So who is going to make an effort to put him back in charge again?
Answer = few.
