THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ARE PROPAGANDA – PERIOD
The U.S. State Department, and the water-carrying U.S. media are working diligently to separate CORE al-Qaeda from Ansar al-Sharia (al-Qaeda in Libya).
The State Department is claiming there is ABSOLUTELY no connection between CORE al-Qaeda, which operates out of Afghanistan and is headed by Ayman al-Zawahiri, and Ansar al-Sharia (17th Feb Brigade) which operates out of Libya and is well referenced as the group which attacked the U.S. compound in Benghazi.

However, this is a fundamental misnomer and pure obfuscation.
CORE al-Qaeda is headed by Ayman al-Zawahiri (he became #1 when Bin Laden was killed). Ayman’s brother is Mohammed al-Zawahiri.
Ayman’s brother, Mohammed al-Zawahiri, was released from Egyptian prison during the turmoil which resulted in the legalization of The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt (early March 2011).
Within a few weeks of Mohammed’s release he began coordinating with, and having discussion with, the Islamist factions in Benghazi Libya. It was Mohammed who coordinated the message which led to thousands of al-Qaeda fighters travelling to Libya to fight with the “rebels”. Those al-Qaeda rebels came from Iraq and Afghanistan back to their homeland in Libya.
Believe it or not even CNN has previously reported on CORE al-Qaeda sending fighters into Benghazi to support the Libyan branch. See this article:

The State Department needs to disconnect CORE al-Qaeda from Libyan al-Qaeda due to the political risk. However, when you see this being argued on TV and in the media you must remember…..
…… What the State Dept is actually trying to do is separate the ideology and connection between Ayman al-Zawahiri (Afghanistan/Pakistan) and his brother Mohammed al-Zawahiri (Egypt/Libya).
Separation cannot be done any way other than by propaganda because the emphirical evidence supports their deeply rooted alignment.
*Note* August 17th 2013, after the military in Egypt took back control and dispatched Dictator Morsi, they re-arrested Mohammed al-Zawahiri – who is now back in Egyptian prison after two and a half years of spreading violence and coordinating Islamist hate.
