Harry Reid On House Funding Bills – “What Right Do They Have”…. (video) Most Have Overlooked The Statement

Patriotic New Media, and Water-Carrying legacy media  are focused on exposing the wrong aspect of this video.

Senator Reid was asked about why not fund the NIH (National Institute of Health) a partial funding bill sent by the House of Representatives.

Immediately, and correctly, the righteous patriots reacted to the dismissive nature of Harry Reid when responding about children with cancer.   Many saw it as a gotcha moment – but most have missed the “key phrase” he used in this example.

A far more dangerous phrase, and a phrase which outlines the ideological disconnect of Democrats in a larger sense.

Listen closely as Harry Reid explains the Democrat position.  Listen to exactly what he says at the :50 second mark in this video excerpt:

…”what right do they have to pick and choose what part of government is going to be funded”….

Forget everything else and think about that for a moment.

The #1 JOB of the House of Representatives is to “pick and choose” what parts of government are funded.    THAT *IS* THEIR JOB.

The house is charged, by constitutional authority, with ALL spending mechanisms for the U.S. Treasury.   That’s why EVERY spending bill MUST, by law, originate in the House of Representatives.  Period.

What Harry Reid is actually saying here is ‘what right does the House of Representatives have to block Democrat  spending preferences’?

He is openly highlighting the BIGGER ISSUE;  the Democrats are furious they cannot arbitrarily spend on THEIR programs, according to their own political views.

Many people are understandably focused on the aspect of Cancer Treatment for kids.

But the larger cancer upon our entire nation, the one that will kill tens of thousands of young people, is the ridiculous attachment to unsustainable debt and skyrocketing Democrat spending.     THAT IS THE ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE HIGHLIGHTED.

Reid-Schumer

Mark Levin has it right.   All the solutions to these fiscal problems are outlined within the constitution itself.    Harry Reid’s visible disposition is angry, bitter and hate-filled that those actual legal and constitutional solutions would be applied to Obama’s America.

First, to have any outrage at all about Reid’s statement you have to believe the Congress gives a rat’s south end about us – period. Again I sent emails to both Senators congratulating them at losing yet another chance to do something positive and productive about the shutdown, letting the Democrats pick up the ball and go to the goal line and praising the hard work they’re doing extracting themselves from the tenets of Obamacare they originally agreed to go under when they imposed it on us. After Congress gets their FEHB and/or subsidies back expect another manufactured crisis to take our volatile public attention span to another subject. Why is it that the only things they can do in a bipartisan mode is line their pockets and feather their nests?

  2. kinthenorthwest says:

Obama, Reid, Pelosi and ???? politicians are egotistical POSs….(Yes I do feel there are a few RHINOS that belong in the ???).

  3. no agenda says:

Is the message getting out to the American public that President Obama and the Democrats own Obamacare? I really hope so.

  4. Stormy says:

We seriously need to make ALL Senators, Congressmen, Supreme Court Justices, Potus, and Vpotus take, and pass with 100% accuracy, a test on the Constitution of the United States.

    smh

  5. Wizzum says:

The MSM not reporting factually on this makes me so mad. The Congress of the people originates all spending FOR the people for a reason. MSM report it!!!

Its my understanding that the House proposes and votes the annual budgets and votes on spending bills….once those bills or budgets become law, they become part of the overall budget (I KNOW WE DONT HAVE A BUDGET). But, if it is law, it can’t be singled out and defunded. The ACA is law. ACH was voted on and passed by both house. signed by the POTUS AND UPHELD when it was challenged by the Supreme Court. So, negotiating to de-fund it because the part of Congres says its awful and expensive etc. isn;t an option

Perhaps I’m mistaken. But in this case, regretfully, Reid may be making a fair statement.
