The part of this story which draws the biggest distinction for me, is how everyone acts like this is a rare or isolated example. It’s not. There are hundreds of “Thrill Kills“, or successful “Polar Bear Hunts“, every single day.
The media act like this is incredibly rare – it’s not; The only reason they are talking about this one is because the police Chief told the media the kids admitted to being bored, and did it just for the heck of it. Usually the police don’t talk about motive or perpetrator statements, that’s why you do not hear the frequency of this. Its quite common – although the victims do not always die.
