Thursday Open Thread – February 28th

Tomb of the Unknown ChristmasOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Mornin’ y’all! Time to head to the office for my (paid) job. Just glad to have one at this point…Thanks Zippy! :/

  3. lovemygirl says:

Oh my, I just got banned again on a Huff Puff thread. I guess my comments about the parents of a transgendered kindergartner not being able to use the girls bathroom, wearing dresses to school and purple hair were too much for the transgender moderator.

    • lovemygirl says:

Make that CNN, wow, the gays are as bad as the BGI. I said nothing derogatory but they sure don’t like it when you say something as plain as a boy that thinks he is a girl in kindergarten does not need the parents suing the school for his right to use the girls bathroom nor be granted the “right” to wear dresses to school and purple hair. The Progs just stink.

      • aliashubbatch says:

Purple hair? Maybe it isn’t that (s)he wants to be a girl, but rather an anime girl. However, doesn’t change the fact that he is a g.i.r.l.

Rosa Parks was a trained activist. Support the cause or not (I think it was criminal to treat any humans differently because of skin color btw), the story they sell about the tired woman on her way home from work who snapped and sat in the wrong section is a bunch of you know what.

      • aliashubbatch says:

So does that mean that MLK was also red? I had heard that from liberal trolls a couple of years back and I didn’t see it, nor did I want to believe it. :(

        • stellap says:

I don’t know, hub. All I know is that MLK belonged to the Republican Party.

        • stellap says:

Hub, I just finished the AT linked article (above). MLK attended the same “community organizer” training that Rosa Parks did – focusing on non-violent resistance.

      • texan59 says:

They started revising her history a long time ago. I had never heard anything about this. And that only happened a very few years before I was born.

I try to keep my strong views about animal rights group such as HSUS but I just can’t help sharing this because nothing boils my blood by trying to use Christianity for your agendas. HSUS already started a campaign reaching out to Christians by claiming what they’re doing is Biblical which any Christian should know is baloney, God gave us animals to eat. But now they’re trying to make Christians okay with Peter Singer, he’s not this bad person you think, he stands with Pro-Lifers on abortion. Peter Singer has said and/or written:
no newborn should be considered a person until 30 days after birth and that the attending physician should kill some disabled babies on the spot.

Human babies are not born self-aware, or capable of grasping that they exist over time. They are not persons”; therefore, “the life of a newborn is of less value than the life of a pig, a dog, or a chimpanzee.”

When the death of a disabled infant will lead to the birth of another infant with better prospects of a happy life, the total amount of happiness will be greater if the disabled infant is killed. The loss of the happy life for the first infant is outweighed by the gain of a happier life for the second. Therefore, if killing the hemophiliac infant has no adverse effect on others, it would, according to the total view, be right to kill him.

    • aliashubbatch says:

So that is his fear; That we would assassinate political leaders? Why? Maybe because of how SOME govern against the will of the people? Last I checked, the more recent assassination attempts were done by liberals. If we lacked self control with ethics as the libtards do, then maybe that would be a threat. But I don’t think that is something to be worried about.

You Don’t Know What You’ve Got Until It’s Gone – Growing Up With Expensive Energy

If you have an opportunity, see the new movie FrackNation, being shown periodically on AXS TV, and at selected showings throughout the US. Also available on DVD.

    • texan59 says:

I saw it when it debuted on AXS channel a few weeks ago. Good documentary.

      • stellap says:

I don’t have AXS on my cable lineup, but I just received the DVD, which was a premium for donating to them when they were raising money on KickStarter. It is a very good documentary.

    • 22tula says:

As You know stellap, President Lech Kaczynski, fought for energy independence.

Will watch the movie – But, You don’t know what you’re got until it’s gone?
It’s not gone. It’s under the boot.

I like Robert Zubrin’s 4 part documentary. It’s the opposite of what the bottom feeders are selling us,(scarcity principle). Energy Victory would lift the third world up to US.
Here is one benefit for the US – “Save the California Forest” by clearing out the underbrush and using it for biomass/fuel. Added bonus – less fires, less houses destroyed – more trees standing – less mudslides.

I also like David Blume’s Idea too – Make your own gas!
A “Chicken in every Pot” is so yesterday. Let’s get progressive and move forward to a “Distiller in every Plot.” It would become just another appliance that you can’t live without. Fill it up with grass clippings, leaves etc.

      • stellap says:

One of the producers of FrackNation grew up in Poland. They are pushing for energy production in Europe, as well as in the USA. The point she is making is exactly that, and pointing out to Americans that we so take cheap energy for granted that there is a disconnect by the greenies between their own energy consumption and the condemnation of the energy companies and the push for “green” energy. This group has made several documentaries. FrackNation was made in direct opposition to the “documentary” Gasland which opposes fracking technology to the hysterical level.

        • 22tula says:

Ok Sharon I will check it out. It must be frustration for them; since the so called environmental hypocrites ignore and block all their work from entering the MSM.

The “greenies” are called watermelons. They are green on the outside and red on the inside. I keep finding things on the web. I stumbled on Peter Kreeft’s talk on “Mere Christianity” by C. S. Lewis. I am posting the web site so you can see where I found it and the mp3 link from that site. Then I found a site that has the audio and the text of “Mere Christianity.” I’ll post those links below too.

“That is the key to history. Terrific energy is expended, civilizations are built up, excellent institutions devised; but each time something goes wrong. Some fatal flaw always brings the selfish and cruel people to the top and it all slides back into misery and ruin. In fact, the machine conks. It seems to start up all right and runs a few yards, and then it breaks down. They are trying to run it on the wrong juice. ” C. S. Lewis

THAT’S IT! We are running on the wrong juice.

That is the reason I am posting Peter Kreeft because he read excerpts from the book, which included the above quote. IMO you don’t have to be a Christian to read C.S. Lewis. Peter Kreeft read excerpts from:

Dennis is an idiot. They could kidnap him, in order to start a basketball league. Of course, most North Koreans are height deprived, so I don’t know how well that would work out.

“Dennis Rodman ends North Korea trip calling Kim Jong-un an ‘awsome guy’”
      AP – March 1, 2013 – Video
At Pyongyang’s Sunan airport on his way to Beijing, Rodman said it was “amazing” that the North Koreans were “so honest.” He added that Kim Jong Il and Kim Il Sung, North Korea’s founder, “were great leaders.”
“He’s proud, his country likes him – not like him, love him, love him,” Rodman said of Kim Jong Un. “Guess what, I love him. The guy’s really awesome.”

      Life under the great leaders.

This happened about 4 miles north of me. 58 year old man was killed, and the gas company is responsible, it looks like.

    • WeeWeed says:

Heard about that on the news – horrible. Poor man, and our news said the houses on either side were destroyed, too.

      • stellap says:

Seven families are staying at a local hotel, compliments of Consumers’ Energy. The houses behind his were damaged pretty badly too. Now they are canvassing the neighborhood to assess damage, and boarding up businesses on Woodward Ave, the back of which are right in front of the house that was destroyed. People were having dinner at a restaurant close by, when all of the picture windows exploded.
