Media Worries Crowd / Events At Term 2 POTUS Inauguration Will Be Embarassing To Dear Leader

We cannot have any of this…. we need more people…. smiles, everyone, smiles…..

worlds-smallest-violinWASHINGTON DC - It would be difficult to upstage President Obama’s starry inauguration four years ago where an estimated 1.8 million descended to see Beyoncé,Bono and Bruce perform. But things are so grim this time that Presidential Inaugural Committee members are sweating over the Jan. 21 event, sources say.

The number of inaugural balls this year where the president and Michelle Obama will appear has sharply dwindled from 10 to two. And donors have also dropped, sources say. “Some on the presidential inaugural committee are starting to seriously worry,” said a political insider. “They’ve dramatically cut the number of balls from 2008 to two, and both will be taking place in the Washington Convention Center.” It will mark the fewest number of official inaugural balls since 1953.

Meanwhile, DC hotels that were booked solid for Obama’s first inauguration have struggled to attract visitors. “Hotels have been slashing prices, and ticket prices to the inaugural events are expected to go down,” said a source, who added, “The committee has been working hard to find benefactors to raise funds.”  (read more)

“They’ve dramatically cut the number of balls from 2008 to two” Cant help but laugh at that, for many reasons.

  2. recoverydotgod says:

Maybe the media can use fake names to buy tickets.

  3. pbunyan says:

Well they were able to create several million immaginary voters who cast ballots for Barrack last November, so they’ll just have to create a bunch of immaginary ball antendees to match. I suppose that’ll be a bit more difficut, but I’ve heard there’s been some great advancements in holographic technology…

Cue the unions to bus people in and pay them by the hour to show up at Dear Reader’s coronation. After all, they bought and paid for his re-election.

  6. Menagerie says:

Maybe all those excess registered voters they had in Ohio and Florida will pick up the tab and attend the festivities they made possible. In other words, why can’t the unions make it happen?

  7. gretchenone says:

Perhaps they need to hire those crisis actors…

  8. nobaddog says:

Ya know, other than blacks at work. I don’t know a single person that likes or voted for Obama. Anywhere i go i hear people talking about him, in a bad way. Who the hell are his supporters?

  9. ctdar says:

Ticketmaster opened the window to release tickets to inauguration events Sunday rather Monday in oops error and suddenly they are sold out virtually at same moment?
Events sold out but hotels still have rooms

  10. janc1955 says:

Maybe Team Obama should encourage some of its biggest supporters with EBT cards to use their free money to buy airfare to D.C., hotel rooms, restaurant meals, and event tickets. If they can’t be convinced to spend their free money that way rather than at the local bar or strip club, an alternative would be to foot the bill for them another way. Fly them in, put them up in 1st class lodging, limo them around town, and pay for it with some freaking pork project. Grrr.

  11. bob e says:

mebbe the reason for the no shows’ is because you need multiple forms of identification along
with the invitations to get in the building…you probably do not need to be a legal resident though..

  12. czarowniczy says:

Maybe they can get Gérard Depardieu to do a guest appearance?

Whitehouse responds to Morgan deportation petition:

The official White House statement, via spokesman Jay Carney:
“The White House responds to all petitions that cross the threshold and we will respond to this one. In the meantime, it is worth remembering that the freedom of expression is a bedrock principle in our democracy.”
