Saturday Open Thread – December 1st

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Good morning! It’s finally the weekend – hope you all enjoy yourselves.

    • Menagerie says:

Wow. You are getting to be an all nightdress like Puddy. Morning Pat.

      • Ad rem says:

        I resemble that!!!

      • Menagerie says:

That was supposed to be all nighter. I was using the Kindle Fire. I guess I got spell corrected. At least it wasn’t something worse than nightdress. :D

        • Auntie Lib says:

I thought “nightdress” was like “goddess”. We’re talking about Pat and Puddy, right? I haven’t gotten to the coffee yet…

      • stellap says:

I went to sleep early, then woke up before 4:00, and had to let the dog out. Went back to sleep about 6:00 ?, then woke again at 9:30 am.

Had to get up – the cable guy was here at 11:00. Now I have HD TV! Very exciting. The picture is so sharp, and my new screen so much bigger, that I can see pretty well without my glasses.

December 1. I used to enjoy opening the first little door on my Advent Calendar.

  3. Sharon says:

Someone has made thoughtful use of some verses from Psalms and Proverbs to say what is so ….an excerpt:

If Sandra Fluke is indeed voted the 2012 Person of The Year, she is sure to receive another phone call from Jamie Foxx’s “lord and savior” Barack Obama, congratulating her!

Sandra Fluke truly represents what America has become: a nation of blind, conceited, wicked fools who are making no attempt to turn from evil. Sadly, “Sandra Fluke embodies the times’!

“Sin whispers to the wicked, deep within their hearts.
They have no fear of God at all.
    In their blind conceit,
they cannot see how wicked they really are.
Everything they say is crooked and deceitful.
They refuse to act wisely or do good.

They lie awake at night, hatching sinful plots.
    Their actions are never good.
They make no attempt to turn from evil

    Psalm 36:1-4

Such as these don’t stumble into sin or “fall into temptation.”

They work at it. They plan for it. They invest in it.

I guess part of my brain still wants to give credit where credit is not due–because I do not understand what the statist has to say about the mathematical facts represented by a chart such as this.

I suppose the answer is simply that they choose to go with the feeling of superiority gained from the feel-good act of taking wealth away from its owner, deliberately setting facts aside. We’ve seen them do something similar in every area of life, again and again and again.

The dishonesty that drives and supports their worldview is deep and intentional.

She is the perfect one for Obama. A fellow traveler. Perpetrator of perverted prevarication’s extraordinaire.

      • WeeWeed says:

        Oh, good one, Howie!! :D

        • doodahdaze says:

It is all falling in to place for Obamakazi. The way I see it he has a plan.
          1. Get rid of the Republican majority in the house in the next mid-term.
          2. Hold the Senate and get rid of the filibuster.
          3. Replace the current communists on SCOTUS with even better one’s, and hope for a bonus replacement of a conservative. Although Robert’s appears to be a mole inserted by Bush.
Once he accomplishes these three thing he will have clear sailing for two years at least. So I figure we have two years to prep.
Looks bad for the good guy’s to me.

          • WeeWeed says:

Never give up on the good guys, Howie – there really are more of us….

Where were they Nov 6? Got a donation request from the RNC last week, tore it up. I get another I will tear it up and mail it back to them. Nothing will ever change until the voter fraud at the polls & the military disenfranchisement is looked at seriously.

          • Sharon says:

“The way I see it he has a plan.” Yeah, I’d say so.

The day I first heard him say that we were just “five days away from the fundamental transformation of the United States of America,” I believed him. It made me feel nauseous, but I believed him.

Hitler clearly stated ahead of time what he intended to do once he had the power to do it. It’s too bad Germans didn’t believe what he said about himself. It’s really too bad that Americans didn’t believe what Hussein said about himself.

Like all determined visionaries, he planned his work, and now he’s working his plan.

            • ctdar says:

Anybody wonder how obamacare will operate take a look at how staten island is being treated even after Obama said he had their back and would cut the red tape for the residents.
Gov Healthcare what a joke, outright theft of our taxpayer funds.

            • doodahdaze says:

And he is doing a fine job of it. The way I see it we have 2 years. The GOP is gonna cave on the silly fiscal cliff scam on Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas America!

  9. czarowniczy says:

If I may digress to the 30th where the post was discussing the integration of Medicare into Obamacare there are two other Federal insurance programs, Medicaid and the military’s Tricare that are being purposefully mismanaged and over-extended to the point that they are also being talked about as being folded under some nebulous ‘other’ system (read as: nationalist-socialist Obamacare). The innercity Medicaid folk are being hauled into clinics (some in New Orleans, and most likely elsewhere) owned by politicians and every test and procedure that can be billed to the system is being run at every possible interval. As for Tricare, DoD is screaming that Tricare co-payments take too much out of its budget (they have to pay the employer’s portion of the premium as they were caught in a big lie, long story). If we go back to Obama appointing Holdren to an ‘advisory’ position where he could work at implementing his force euthanasia and sterilization philosophies, the cornerstone of a potential racial/ideological purity program. I may have gone too far on this topic but I understand that A.J. Topf & Sohne is open again and I’m watching the Federal contract lists to see if the Obama administration makes them a preferred buyer.

  10. Ad rem says:

Oh my gosh my golly….it’s time for jingle bells and…..”Obama in Pee Pee” :-D
Once again proving that liberals have absolutely NO SENSE OF HUMOR….

  11. Sharon says:

I just think it’s so special that Barack Hussein Obama wants to be flexible with the Russians.

(Reuters) – A Russian businessman helping Swiss prosecutors uncover a powerful fraud syndicate has died in mysterious circumstances outside his mansion in Britain, in a chilling twist to a Russian mafia scandal that has strained Moscow’s ties with the West.

They have alot in common with their pattern of snuffing people out, and enjoying the process.

  13. texan59 says:

I know this should probably be over on the Medicare thread but I’m gonna put it here since there are MANY influential eyes that peruse the OT.
There are lots of posts all over the interwebs on the machinations and effects of obamacare. A couple of points that won’t make you feel any better.

    1) The majority of Medicaid money comes from the Federal Gov’t. While the “new” program will boost Medicaid eligibility to families making over $88,000/year, the Feds will be picking up about 90% of the “new” recipients, after the phase-in ends (three years), funding levels will return to “normal” levels of about 67%. This has been the historical funding level for the last many years. So, Medicaid has been a redistributive program since the beginning.

    2) A little known fact about Medicaid/Medicare is that there is a provision whereby many people can “qualify” for Medicare coverage well before age 65. A Medicaid recipient can request their State enroll them in Medicare coverage and the State will actually pay a premium to Medicare and then that recipient can have dual coverage. This transfers 80% of the healthcare expenses back to the Fed (you and me).

Sooooo, just so everyone understands. Medicaid is a money redistribution policy that masquerades as a health plan and their are many ways to play the game. None of them end well and none of them are really concerned with your health.

Even with this scenario, Medicaid is on a path to help bankrupt the States. Cloward-Piven disguised as caring healthcare for the vunnables.

    Trust me on this.

I know YOU know…… what can some of us being readied for the death panels do? I’m not yet quite old enough for Medicare and 2013 will prolly be our last year of Godzilla provided health insurance. I iz approaching a place between and rock and a rock….

There are no good answers yet. My really smart friends who are more on top of this than I am don’t have any good answers either. I would suggest you talk to your PCP and ask them what their plans are for the next couple years. If they are willing to take cash down the road, that may be a start. Chickens and eggs are always good barter too. I hear a couple cases of .45 ammo will get ya a physical with a kiss at the end. If your doc os over 60, I would hug ‘em tight and thank ‘em for what they’ve done up til now as they’ll prolly retire shortly to their compound in the Ft. Davis Mountains.

He really is shameless. Unfortunately for him, Pensacola isn’t Miami-Dade and he won’t get a sympathetic hearing. The video tape clearly shows his “client” escalating the incident through her body language, aggressive posturing, etc.

As far as the child allegedly being unattended – um, no. And she had someone with her who took a few steps back and watched as she was arrested. The child in the cart was “unattended” no more than she would have been if her mother was shopping.

Spare me. Crumpster should have saved his airfare. ECSO don’t play.
