Important Revisit: Benghazi Compound Post Attack September 14th

As we begin to piece the new information, new reporting and discovered research in Benghazi against the backdrop of the “Official State Department Reports”, it is prudent to go back and rewatch the actual journalistic discoveries on scene right after the attack.

Blood in the bathroom of the “Safe Area”.   Unknown origin.

Looking toward the main entrance gate from main building. The “Barracks” are visible as the building on the left side of the gate. This was where the 17th February Brigade was housed.

Sundancecracker, read my post on your thread: Death and Deciet in Benghazi.

You are being called to expose the whole sorted affair. You can do it. No one is better at research and putting together the time lines, starting with the UK Indenpendent article, better than you. We will help. But you have to expose the horrors that is the Obama administration. Americans need to know what we are facing, and it ain’t pretty.

We will help. We will research the foreign press, especially the press in the UK, which has been on top of this from the beginning. Just ask. You know the help is there. You know we Treepers will aid you anyway we can. You know, and I know, that your headline should be “Fast and Furious, Libyan Style.”

I have been in awe of your ability to expose the little details that tell the truth. You know what you have to do now.

God help our nation. And God bless you for all you do.

    • But unlike Fast and Furious the UN weapons to the “Rebels” was well known. Many articles were written about us giving them material support, weapons, training, etc etc.

While today we might be dealing with the outcome of “unintended consequences” it most certainly was not a secret….. Neither was al-Qaeda in Afghanistan leaving the battlefield and getting in trucks headed to Libya…. It has long been known that Islamists HATED Gaddafi for kicking them out of his country and shutting down their training facilities.

Somewhere in all this smoke Samantha Power has answers….. Where is she?

      http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2011/04/10/power-clinton-rice-and-obamas-libyan-folly/

This was all her friggin giddy up from the beginning…. Where is she NOW?

      • ctdar says:

So Powers voiced “kinetic military action” instead of saying we were at war with Libya during Gaddafi ouster. More obamatalk i looked up the meaning:
“Term has been around for decades. It is not something new from the President.
Essentially, it means using weapons to reach the objective.
A Non-kinetic military action would be using medical personnel to treat villagers, or a civil actions team doing whatever the hell they do, etc.
Lets say you want to silence an enemy radar station. Kinetic military action would be to bomb the hell out of it. Non-kinetic would be to simply jam it.”
Where is Powers but also where is Lieberman? He used to be very vocal and now that he is resigning from senate you would think be stirring up a hornets nest especially anything that concerns Israel.
I bet Chicago has dirt or threatened both of them.

France 24 TV says its Cairo correspondent was ‘savagely attacked’ near restive Tahrir Square

    Published October 20, 2012

    Associated Press

PARIS (AP) — A correspondent for France 24 TV was “savagely attacked” near Cairo’s Tahrir Square after being seized by a crowd, the network said Saturday. It was the latest case of violence against women at the epicenter of Egypt’s restive protests.

The news channel said in a statement that Sonia Dridi was attacked around 10:30 p.m. Friday after a live broadcast on a protest at the square and was later rescued by a colleague and other witnesses. France 24 did not give further details about the attack, but it said its employees were safe and sound, though “extremely shocked,” and that it will file suit against unspecified assailants.

    • sibiljx1, that’s what is needleing me. I’m perplexed. If those two buildings comprised a risk, according to intelligence, then why would State be so forthcoming. Obviously the Fox report is even more forthcoming because they not only describe the entire compound, but they show the location and construct of the secondary “CIA Annex” 2 kilometers away.

This question is sticking me in the mud. It’s keeping me from understanding how this all fits together. What exactly is the purpose of the second two buildings that would cause concern (that must no longer be an issue – because Fox was all over it) for intelligence?

Something about the “actual purpose” of those two buildings is key to this I think. A “cantina”? Really…. kinda big considering they were only feeding what 10 to 15 people tops every day? It’s almost as big as the main residence. Something ain’t passing the sniffy test….. But I can’t put my finger on it.

      • retire2005 says:

Ok, the CIA Annex 2 klicks away? Got any problems with that? Like the fact that it was also under attack almost simiultaneously with the Embassy consulate? What are the chances that the CIA didn’t know their building was being attacked when Charlene Lamb was watching the attack on the consulate in “near” real time? Are we to think that the CIA has become so incompetent under Petreaus that they didn’t know?

So the consulate is under attack as Lamb watches, the CIA Annex is under attack at the same time, and still, the administration decided to try to brush these events off as originally starting out as a protest against a video? Even Elmo could have figured out this was a coordinated attack on ALL American interests in Benghazi.

One other thing, and this is a problem I had with Greg Palcott’s report: he said that Stevens body was put in a car, driven through morter fire to another building, and wound up in the hospital, where he died, at 1:00 a.m. Benghazi time. But we see the films of the rebels dragging Stevens out of the building through a window, and Palcott claims they were shouting “Allah Akbar” because Stevens was what? Still alive? Was Stevens dragged from the second building? How do we know that Stevens was taken to the hospital at 1:00 a.m? Where is the autopsy report on Stevens?

Meanwhile, as we learn the answers to some of the questions, it only creates more questions.

      • GracieD says:

SD, I agree about the “Cantina”. My first thought was that it was an armory of some sort.
To store weapons for our guys, or to store recovered weapons that our side had supplies to “rebels”…I’m not sure. That is just what came to mind, FWIW.

        • Oh I agree. I mean seriously a big main house must have had a kitchen and dining… but ok, for official use… got that. The barracks ain’t no small place, neither all things considered. But a Cantina? When was the last time you bivwacked with a “cantina”.

      • yankeeintx says:

It is interesting that if you go to Google Earth (32 3’25.81″ N, 20 05’15.92E) you’ll see the annex complex. Notice the large warehouses (seemingly abandoned) right behind the complex. Now, if you use history, you’ll notice that the “Cantina” building was there as far back as 2005, but the main consulate building looks like it is under construction in (June) 2009. Now, if you compare the consulate compound to the annex, you’ll see that two of the buildings were already there and also looked to be under construction in June of 2009 (with the addition of 2 more buildings). Also interesting to note: even though it looks like the main consulate building and the annex were being constructed at the same time (in 2009), the TOC building doesn’t show up until March of 2011.

If I were in charge of hinding weapons, I think it would be logical to build secure storage in an already existing warehouse. (Did you notice that there is a drive leading from the annex directly to the warehouses?). Yeah, I think I’d be upset at Lamb for putting that up on the map for the world to see.

It’s 793 miles from Rome to Benghazi. So Italy is literally right next door, in terms of flight time, not even bringing up what resources might have been available in the Mediterranean. They did not save these Americans because they did not want to. They didn’t even make a phony effort, so it might look like they wanted to. Bumps In The Road indeed.

      • Josh says:

I’m guessing they did nothing to help save Ambassador Stevens because they felt they could no longer count on his silence and he knew too much.

(Days ago I posted that Ambassador Stevens hands were probably not “clean”. In no way did I mean to convey that he deserved anything that happened to him. The only people that would deserve such a fate are those that would do such things to others.)

        • Occam’s Razor: They did nothing to help Stevens because he was gone. The bad guys nabbed him as planned and took him out of the compound. That’s why 5 guys could walk around amid the now removed 200 bad guys….

I wonder if that “uncut” video would show Stevens being removed from the compound?

          • Josh says:

I mean before the “attack”. POTUS and his ilk knew something was afoot. Yes, I think they are THAT evil in that they would allow something like this to happen.

    https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-eiGwyGneaKU/UFUUPcHKpEI/AAAAAAAAAiM/TC_8OWgP5Hk/s0/chris%2520stevens%2520quartered.jpg

Some have suggested that due to the image of Stevens on someones shoulders with his arm up that he might still be alive, I believe it could be due to rigor mortis (stiffness within 3-8 hrs of death) as that is the same arm up when he was pulled thru the window with his eyes open (1st part of body to undergo rigor).

  9. Bette says:

Reporting…We have a video of the ambassador being pulled from the window, supposedly alive, albeit just barely due to smoke inhalation…again supposedly. We have pictures of him being dragged through the streets in which it appears he has been beaten, yet relatively clean. We have statements saying they (our officials) could not account for his whereabouts for approximately 8 hours. The account of the attack is said to have lasted about 6 hours. We have the video of the doctor at the hospital where Steven’s “lifeless” body was brought; in which he states Ambassador Steven’s was covered in a lot of soot and that he tried to resuscitate him for 45 minutes, but it was too late.

We have statements saying that several attempts were made to locate Stevens’s body before they left with Sean Smith’s body. I believe the reason they couldn’t find him was that he was already gone; he was found alive and taken by the terrorists somewhere and tortured for hours because he was involved in secret ops and that is why the State Department went out of their way to downplay security measures and try to create a picture of “normalcy” (their words) in an effort to not attract too much attention to the compound. I do not believe the doctor. I do not believe the kid interpreting the video. I distinctly remember when the pictures of Steven’s body being dragged through the street first aired, a reporter who had either been there or else had inside sources, started to comment about the injuries he sustained and then something to the affect that parts of his body were found located in various locations. This aired in the middle of the night, when the buzz was all about the earlier statements from the Whtehouse and Romney’s and everybody was busy retracting their earlier statements and trashing Romney for making a statement. The Whitehouse had not formulated their strategy yet and I never heard that reported about Ambassador Steven’s again.

I believe this is why some of the families want this out of the public light, why the lies about security, why they hope they could sell the video story and why the big cover up.

If it was a botched kidnapping attempt, why would they need to lie? We do not negotiate with terrorists and if the bad guys screwed up causing the death of 4 Americans, they could put a very good spin on that. But, secret ops…that’s another story. Just MHO.

DID ANYONE SEE WHAT WAS IN THOSE COFFINS? NOPE?

More information continues to come out since I originally posted this about our CIA presence in Libya and Benghazi, as well as the proliferation of U.S. weapons being funneled to Syrian rebels. All this is somehow connected to what happened on 9/11? Thought this was worth reporting.

Oct 3 (Reuters) – The father of an American bodyguard
injured in the deadly attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi,
Libya, said on Wednesday the U.S. State Department should own up
to what he said were its mistakes and release more information
        about what occurred.

David Ubben, a 31-year-old State Department employee,
suffered broken bones and other injuries in the Sept. 11 attack
that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other
        Americans.

As David Ubben recuperates at the Walter Reed National
Military Medical Center outside Washington, his father, Rex
Ubben, said he did not blame the State Department or Secretary
of State Hillary Clinton for his son’s injuries. But “I do find
        it troubling that they have not owned up to their shortcomings;
in government, in the military, and in business, if something
goes wrong, you admit it, correct it, and move on,” Rex Ubben
        said.

“If you were in charge, it was your fault,” he said in an
        email exchange with Reuters….

I wish he would just speak plainly. The White House and NSI wanted it to appear Stevens had more protection because it makes them look better, and makes the lack of security seem less horrible.

Alas, the truth is they left him out there with his ass flying in the breeze just waiting to get shot. That’s the brutal honest truth of it. They (all the bastids) screwed up, and got them folks killed. Period.

We not only have an empty chair in the White House, we also have an empty chair in the SecState’s office. There are so many unanswered questions in the Libyan fiasco that it’s next to impossible not to go tinfoil hat. If Charlene Lamb (is she the designated sacrificial lamb?) was monitoring the events real time from Foggy Bottom, you can be sure that Panetta and Petraeus or their top aides were monitoring things from their own high tech command centers. Those centers are all tied together with communications. Yet, they just observed while terrorists attacked a US diplomatic consulate and did nothing? Everything is wrong about that picture. The more information I have on it, the less I know. Obviously a few puzzle pieces are still missing. Keep up the good work, Treehouse. I read often but this is my second post.
