A very close friend has asked to pray for his Father. father has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. It’s bad. The reason for the prayer, is that he CONFESSES to his family, his wife and his children. This is prayer that has meaning. We will all one day face the last days on this earth. It is so very very important for the survivors of a of the one’s we love, we cherish, and even those who have not necessarily been solid. We need to hear this words, not to prove we are right, but to square the deal, to recover from past trials. We need all of is to hear these words. We do so because the bible teaches this simple redemption LAW. Confess. Own it. Ask for forgiveness and everyone is blessed in the testimony. I believe this to be true.
Because one day, we will be this one near death, but still able to do the one thing that the Lord Almighty has given to us: truth.
I would appreciate a prayer for my friend. He anguishes in ways that I’ve not seen for a long time. I stand with him.

Andreas Vesalius
(1514-1564)
Flemish physician and anatomist (De humani corporis fabrica), dies after being shipwrecked at 49
Biography: Andreas Vesalius’s fame rests on not one but two major achievements: the establishment of the study of Anatomy based on observations, and the publication of an anatomy text that would change not only medicine but book publishing forever.
Born in Brussel, Vesalius studied and taught at the prestigious progressive universities of Leuven, Paris and Padua. By dissecting cadavers himself he came to question the writing of the great Greek physician Galen, whose teachings were still standard 1300 years later. Veralius realised Galen’s teaching were based on dissections of animals not people.
Vesalius, while teaching in Venice had begun publishing anatomical illustrations to support his teaching. In 1543 he took this much further publishing “De Humani Corporis Fabrica Libri Septem (On the Fabric of the Human Body in Seven Volumes)”. This revolutionary book contained over 600 illustrations of the body, presenting the body in not only a naturalistic way but also an artistic one, and intermixed illustrations with text. It was made using woodblocks, probably the work of Flemish artist Flemish artist, Jan Stephan van Calcar.
Vesalius presented his work to the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, who gave him a position as a physician to the royal household. He died in 1564 travelling home from visiting Jerusalem.

Samuel Adams
(1722-1803)
American revolutionary (Boston Massacre-Tea Party) and politician (Lt Gov-Mass, 1789-94), dies at 81
Biography: Samuel Adams was a politician in colonial Massachusetts and a leader in the movement that became the American Revolution. He was one of the architects of the principles of American republicanism that shaped the political culture of the nascent United States.
Adams was born in Boston in 1722 and was brought up in a religious and politically active family. By 1743, Adams had graduated from Harvard College. He then went on to become an influential political activist, focusing on the issues of British colonial policy.
Adams spoke out in particular against the British Parliament’s efforts to tax the colonies without their consent. He argued that this violated the colonists’ rights as British subjects.
Ultimately Adams helped organize resistance to the Stamp Act and played a vital role in organizing the Boston Tea Party. He was one of the first to argue for independence from Great Britain.
Later he was a delegate to the Continental Congress and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He would also help to draft the Articles of Confederation.
After the American Revolution, Adams helped write the Massachusetts Constitution and subsequently served as governor of Massachusetts. Throughout his life, he continued to argue against all that he considered harmful to the rights of his fellow colonists.

Alec Issigonis
(1906-1988)
Greek-British automotive designer who designed the Mini, dies at 81
Biography: Alec Issigonis was a British-Greek automotive designer, best known for designing the Mini. This car, which has become iconic worldwide as a symbol of the British automotive industry, was created by Issigonis and launched in 1959 by the British Motor Corporation.
Issigonis was born in Smyrna, but his father had become a naturalised British citizen while studying in London. When tensions arose within Smyrna, his family was evacuated to Malta and then Issigonis moved to the United Kingdom after the death of his father.
His career in the automotive industry started at Humber, and he even raced an Austin Seven from the 1930s. His work on his supercharged “Ulster” version of this car led him to a job at Austin. After Austin, Issigonis went to work for Morris and then Alvis Cars.
By this point the British Motor Corporation had been formed by the merger of Morris and Austin, and Issigonis was brought back to work at the Austin plant by Sir Leonard Lord, who was the chairman of BMC at the time. He was tasked with designing three vehicles, the smallest of which was rushed into production: the Mini.

Their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father. (Matthew 18:10)
As the last light slipped from the sky, the young man—alone on a hunting trip—realized that he was lost and cold in the dense woods. Suddenly another hunter whom he did not know emerged from the darkness. You lost, kid? Follow me. After a series of twists and turns, the man pointed out a path in the distance. Your cabin is just down there and across that footbridge. When the young man turned to thank him, his guide had vanished. Convinced that he had met his guardian angel, he treasured the story and told his children and grandchildren about the night he was rescued by his heavenly helper.
Many people can tell stories like this: stories that describe miraculous protection from danger or guidance when hope seemed lost. Especially on today’s feast of the Guardian Angels, these stories can help us understand how much God treasures us. Jesus says that everyone has an angelic protector who is always in the presence of God (Matthew 18:10). That’s how much our heavenly Father treasures us! He gives each of us a heavenly guide who is completely committed to helping us on our journey to our heavenly home.
As in the young hunter’s story above, our guardian angels protect us from external dangers. But that’s not all. In addition to sharing God’s concern for our physical safety, they also share his concern for our eternal future. And so they accompany us during hard times and help us fix our eyes on the One who will one day call us home.
Considering the lengths to which the Lord went to rescue us from sin and death, how much more does he—and all of heaven with him—work to bring us into his kingdom! The guardian angels remind us that God loves each of us more than we can possibly know. He cares for us, and he has assigned us a perfect, pure spirit to assist us as we make our way in the dimness, over the footpath, on the way home.

COMMENTARY FOR PROVERBS 3
Exhortations to obedience and faith. (1-6) To piety, and to improve afflictions. (7-12) To gain wisdom. (13-20) Guidance of Wisdom. (21-26) The wicked and the upright. (27-35)1-6 In the way of believing obedience to God’s commandments health and peace may commonly be enjoyed; and though our days may not be long upon earth, we shall live for ever in heaven. Let not mercy and truth forsake thee; God’s mercy in promising, and his truth in performing: live up to them, keep up thine interest in them, and take the comfort of them. We must trust in the Lord with all our hearts, believing he is able and wise to do what is best. Those who know themselves, find their own understandings a broken reed, which, if they lean upon, will fail. Do not design any thing but what is lawful, and beg God to direct thee in every case, though it may seem quite plain. In all our ways that prove pleasant, in which we gain our point, we must acknowledge God with thankfulness. 7-12 There is not a greater enemy to the fear of the Lord in the heart, than self-conceit of our own wisdom. The prudence and sobriety which religion teaches, tend not only to the health of the soul, but to the health of the body. Worldly wealth is but poor substance, yet, such as it is, we must honour God with it; and those that do good with what they have, shall have more to do more good with. Should the Lord visit us with trials and sickness, let us not forget that the exhortation speaks to us as to children, for our good. We must not faint under an affliction, be it ever so heavy and long, not be driven to despair, or use wrong means for relief. The father corrects the son whom he loves, because he loves him, and desires that he may be wise and good. Afflictions are so far from doing God’s children any hurt, that, by the grace of God, they promote their holiness.
13-20 No precious jewels or earthly treasures are worthy to be compared with true wisdom, whether the concerns of time or eternity be considered. We must make wisdom our business; we must venture all in it, and be willing to part with all for it. This Wisdom is the Lord Jesus Christ and his salvation, sought and obtained by faith and prayer. Were it not for unbelief, remaining sinfulness, and carelessness, we should find all our ways pleasantness, and our paths peace, for his are so; but we too often step aside from them, to our own hurt and grief. Christ is that Wisdom, by whom the worlds were made, and still are in being; happy are those to whom he is made of God wisdom. He has wherewithal to make good all his promises.
21-26 Let us not suffer Christ’s words to depart from us, but keep sound wisdom and discretion; then shall we walk safely in his ways. The natural life, and all that belongs to it, shall be under the protection of God’s providence; the spiritual life, and all its interests, under the protection of his grace, so that we shall be kept from falling into sin or trouble.
27-35 Our business is to observe the precepts of Christ, and to copy his example; to do justice, to love mercy, and to beware of covetousness; to be ready for every good work, avoiding needless strife, and bearing evils, if possible, rather than seeking redress by law. It will be found there is little got by striving. Let us not envy prosperous oppressors; far be it from the disciples of Christ to choose any of their ways. These truths may be despised by the covetous and luxurious, but everlasting contempt will be the portion of such scorners, while Divine favour is shown to the humble believer.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

I submit that besides the in-flight threat from crew members, there is also a potential threat from the ground – maintenance of aircraft and airports, quality and capability of air traffic control, to name just a few.

I viewed or was subjected to various security measures in many places for roughly 15 years as an outside contractor for fixing various industrial equipment (including on airport properties), unfortunately this will always be an issue. We would need to use Israeli tactics to minimize the threat profile. (totally unacceptable to some)
Even with profiling there could still be incidences such as the Fed Ex employee termination incident. (immediate termination / send back to origination as civilian passenger not by FedEx plane)
I read the article. It’s nice. Well written, The guy knows his stuff. He did a great job in Israel.
If you implemented even half of the the things he is saying — all of which are spot on by the way – US airlines would all fail.
It does not work that way here. The publicly held airlines are managed for one thing: short term profit and management bonuses are determined by on-time performance. They cut corners., falsify maintenance records so the pilot and flight crew do not even know the maintenance status of their own airplanes, blow off safety concerns, and constantly push their people to hurry hurry hurry, with less and less reserves or options — all in pursuit of on-time performance. Even regular safety does not matter — if following the rules means taking a delay, then get the on-time and shut up.
As for Ms. Idaho’s comment about maintenance she is right. All the major airlines off-shored their maintenance inspections ot china and south america and places where no matter what the airplane has been through they never find a problem and always get it turned around and back in the air on time. And about that pesky problem with counterfeit parts which has been an issue in the industry for 20 years ? I am sure that buried in the paperwork in Shanghai there are some correct numbers …
But that’s okay. The major airlines have a new system where the airlines and maintenance companies swap, loan, lease, and borrow parts all the time. Then if the FAA were ever to inspect (which they don’t because they bought into self-regulating a couple decades back) and ask whether the parts on the airplane are the same parts the logbooks show should be on the airplane — it literally cannot be done. Except by the computer guru at the airline who will happily generate the one time printout of what should be there … no way for the FAA to ever do a random check.
But – hey – it must be okay — the airplanes never crash, right ?
