With energy prices high and effecting everyone globally, why couldn’t this be an opportunity to end opec and establish a country by country partnership on oil prices set by the place it originates from
If you owned 4thamendmentrestored Oil and Gas production company all by yourself and could produce, say, 100 million barrels of crude a year. Would you take a fixed price contract for all of that production? There are pros and cons to doing so. What if your fixed price ends up being well below what you could get at a market rate? The opposite of course could be true. That is why most producers have a mix of fixed price offtake agreements and also sell at market rates.
Producers do not owe consumers anything. They are in business to maximize their profits. That’s capitalism. And no, prices are not “rigged”. Too much money to be made or lost taking the other side of any oil trade. OPEC used to have a monopoly, but not anymore. The USA is now the largest producer.
If the price is artificially inflated, then your company would plop a couple more rigs into the ground and produce an extra few barrels. That additional supply would bring down prices (when everyone else does the same).

Those are pipelines, that can only go from A to B. Much negotiation for years to put the pipeline in. And if you read up on it the price is a variable of the market price.

For some reason, called a midterm election the leftist enemy is desperate to win, the prices of oil are being manipulated at every level to inflate prices. The goal is high energy use costs, especially gasoline, to influence voters by hitting their wallets in a noticeable way that annoys them enough that they will vote against the republicans lead by Pres. Trump. People won’t look at the whys very deeply, only at their weekly trips to the gas station and how many more dollars they have to spend. If there isn’t some way to counter this quickly and bring relief, the voters will be influenced by it for sure. We know the easier way to sway voters it hit the common things everyone uses daily with price increases that strain the budgets of the masses.
Energy and Food manipulations are the most successful areas of the economy at grabbing the voters by the ears and shaking them into worrying about stretching their weekly budgets. Right now energy costs on oil, aka gasoline and heating costs coming up, are the easiest tool to manipulate quickly. The war in Iran, with the propaganda from the left and their cohorts in the media, is the convenient vehicle unfortunately brought to the table by Pres Trump and his timing on the Iran war, chosen to bring the most results by getting into the voters minds. The delays on settling this war and used by the Iranians to stall until the elections if they could, have worked because here we are less than 3 months from Election Day results. Voters will think about these things daily because they do and have to anyway, only now it will be at a higher anxiety level because of higher prices charged, which are conveniently escalating daily. It’s not rocket science.
So predictable. Every trick will be pulled by the Trump opposition groups both foreign and domestic to get these elections to go for them and against President Trump’s America first agenda. If they get both houses, the impeachment is a given and conviction in the Senate is a real possibility.
Pay attention to every fire that is now being started to burn the current administration out by Nov. It’s starting to ramp up very quickly as we all expected it to.

It is primarily the Hedge Fund and Financial Masters supported Speculators setting prices the middlemen in the fuel supply have to pay … in order to have fuel to refine. they are supported by Nation-State and US State Government Actors who pass Green New Deal Regulations as well as media pundits who create the headlines.
OPEC and other Raw Material Suppliers can fix prices until their hearts content but it is the Big Whale Money folks setting the prices via speculation.

Here in northwestern Ohio, home to various refineries (e.g. Marathon) in various small cities, one might think gasoline prices would be lower, since the refineries are either right in town or nearby.

Recently overnight gasoline jumped nearly a dollar from $3.69 to “$4.59.
This morning a few had dropped the price to $4.49.
All of this at the same time that Oil Futures dropped yesterday to c. $97.00
I understand that it will take time to absorb both the increase and the decrease.
I see no way how Hormuz would cause such a leap, especially with no event to cause a panic.
Manipulation, speculation, rigging, whatever you want to call it, must be involved, all in a Deep-State effort to ruin November elections for MAGA candidates.

Not trying to be a doomsayer, but the GOP is in trouble for the midterms if I take into account my local informal conversations. It appears the younger generations, post babyboomers and especially post Iran hostage crisis, anyone not familiar with the history of Iran over the past 45 years are against Trump for starting/trying to finish (depends on your perspective) the Iran War. Even 20-30 somethings who voted Trump are turning away from him using excuses like “everything’s gotten expensive” or “why are we poking everyone in the eye?” The generation of instant gratification are not Trump fans.

They set the prices at the shelf …. they can wag the PRICE at POINT of SERVICE curves in any direction. there is no “classically driven by the market (supply and demand) inflation”. wages have not improved that drastically either … to add significantly to inflationary costs. then add to that the cost impact of local and state taxes-regulations. “Inflation” is being driven strictly through controls being exercised over SUPPLY.
With costs at point of service being so high via control over SUPPLY … the demand side is not increasing but shifting as consumers are forced to more acutely prioritize what they buy.
This is the how the “affordability crisis” is being shaped and CONTROLLED leading into the November Mid-Terms.

To those upset that Speaker Johnson recessed the House til midterms…here is some food for thought:
1). Nothing good the House passed would have made it through the Senate before the elections anyway. And,
2). What was on the agenda ready to be pushed would have been detrimental to Republicans, not just for policy, but for midterm campaigning:
A. Hakeem Jeffries and the dems (with help from a couple repubs) would have pushed the AI hoax into campaigns and media propaganda messaging, and
B. Thomas Massie had impeachment of Pete Hegseth vote ready to go. Don’t know if it would have passed, or not….but not a good discussion leading into midterm campaigning.
Speaker Johnson probably recessed with Trump’s approval (or even request)….
Because Trump is trying to win the midterms.
Sounds reasonable….
I was perfectly OK with Johnson sending the House home until after the elections. 2 reasons:
1) The House is not the problem. The Senate is. The House has sent over to the Senate all manner of bills, from critical — like the SAVE Act, and trivial — the bill to make daylight saving time permanent. The Senate just sits on them all. The Dems obstruct with the filibuster, and Thune obstructs by not doing anything about it. So why bother?
2) As noted, it removes the theater from Dems and RINOs in the House to pontificate on the floor, and file stupid resolutions and bills designed as propaganda.
Good move by Johnson. Good move.
All Massie would have accomplished is giving the Democrats another dog and pony show to air all their Trump grievance in a House hearing before the midterms.

PPI indisputably proved the only items driving BLS inflation data higher are Diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, crude oil and petroleum derivatives. Core CPI (ex-food and energy) was actually down.
