A haunting little number to brighten your Saturday
Talking about Saturday, I saw there is a bit of a stink in Jerusalem over a Christian “Jews for Jesus” coffee shop/café that has been open for business on the Sabbath in a very conservative “orthodox” area. Apparently there were some ugly scenes with some ultra orthodox adherents literally screaming “Sabbath, Sabbath” in an intimidating manner – which by the way is against what Judaism teaches.
One teaching is that in doing so the intimidate-or is actually transmitting that “he” has no rational logical manner and words in which to present a “his” position, (one which would/could have the effect of having the “opponent” agree.) (Love they neighbor.) However, this is not to suggest that they don’t have the right to protect their community and way of life from “foreigners”. Indeed they (and us) are commanded in the Bible to protect against such. Isn’t it exactly the sentiment currently in conservative Christian America? And rightfully so.
I danno, the Jew is commanded to be a light to the nations, the Christian is to make disciples of all, the Muslim is to convert, and everybody presumes to swear by the same God. Seems to me this is a big problem for 2 of the 3 as it is a direct violation of the 3rd commandment. I guess the 4th is also in play here. lol
Everybody “sees” (and hears) what is in front of them through their own particular lens. For example does everybody “read/feel” the same message in the song above/below?

Biography: Crazy Horse was a Native American war leader of the Oglala Lakota tribe. Known for his courage and ferocity in battle, he is celebrated as one of the greatest and most recognized warriors in the history of the Native Americans. His commitment to preserving the traditions and values of the Lakota people led him to resist white encroachment into the tribe’s lands in the Northern Great Plains.
One of Crazy Horse’s most famous battles was the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876. Like I said. There has always been griping and always been rumors (scuttlebutt) in the military. Now, with the advent of social media those that wish to harm the military and it’s commanders can take that stuff completely out of context, amplify it, and report rumor as fact.
Also suicide attempts on all ships are not that unusual even in times of total peace.
The U.S. active-duty military, a reasonable estimate is about 1,000 documented nonfatal suicide attempts per year.

Propaganda piece. Of course wives aren’t happy about their man being gone that long. She should have considered that when marrying a military man. You know this stuff can happen when you enlist. Imagine all the guys during WW2 that never came home when their ships were sunk.
A high school classmate of mine jumped ship in dock. He had passed the sonar test with flying colors and you had to extend your active period from 4 to 6 years to go to sonar school. He hated it so jumped ship, swam to shore, was arrested and kicked out of the Navy, exactly what he wanted. He said the Officer of the Day was ordering him back to the ship the whole time.
Because of the way the history is presented I suspect most people think the Battle of the Bulge was decided by the heroic stand of the 101st Abn and various tank and tank destroyers of CCB of the 10th Armored Division at Bastogne. But the fact is there were several other actions at different places north, South and East of Bastogne that were just as critical and just as grizzly.
Here is the story on one presented in an excellent presentation.
BTW the 2nd ID was engaged in combat for 300 days of combat in the ETO. Second only to the 90th ID which had 308 days.
Life on a aircraft carrier has to be a lot sweeter than life at the front in WW2, especially the winter months of two years. Springs with their rain and mud would be no picnic either.
My infantry WWII dad said words to that.
He mentioned, among his many details he (fortunately) shared with me, that the boys on the ground in france often thought of the boys in their bunks aboard the ships.
however, he also then immediately said that the ship boys were extremely vulnerable, out in the open waters aboard their craft.
I thought the 106 ID replaced the 2 ID just days before the Bulge.
Idiot generals in indefensible positions replaced by more idiot generals position for position. Experienced soldiers replaced by brand new soldiers, the last army division of WW2. Meant to guard POWs after the war. 2 Regiments surrounded, unsupplied, and surrendered. 2nd only to Bataan in the number of men surrendered. The third regiment fighting desperately, but positioned far behind the front two regiments. Open land to north and south, not a continuous line of defense.
The 2nd had taken part of the Siegfried line and nobody wanted to have to retake it. Thus the idiotic ‘defensive’ positions. After all, the enemy can’t attack any more. So we can stay out here far ahead of all other allied units, open approaches to either side. The inexperienced 106 stepped in to those positions. Even swapped brand new artillery for the used artillery staked into place by the 2nd.
Held in place by light attacks, ordered to stay in place, they were quickly surrounded. General ordered air resupply. Denied because he didn’t use proper channels, then when channels were followed, the weather closed in preventing any help.
Eventually they were allowed to fight their way back to the front line, but they found the huge army stalled on the roads with those mobile 20 mm flak weapons aimed at them. And the two regimental commanders decided to surrender. A very few snuck away and snuck past the Germans.
And being a German POW did not earn these guys a trip home. They were restored to the 106th and became pow camp guards.
I wonder how the 2nd ID would have fared defending those indefensible positions. Would their idiot general have allowed a quick fighting retreat? Or have ordered they stay put too? Surrounded and outnumbered and super low on ammo and food, would they have desperately fought to victory? Been wiped out? Or surrendered too?
Well, that idiot general would have at least known the right channels to get them air supplied. But they wouldn’t be able to get supplies again until the skies opened up to resupply the 101st. And we didn’t get back to those positions for months.
The new idiot General basically followed incompetent orders, lost most of his troops, and had a heart attack during the fight. Ridgeway kept him on as staff afterwards. He had lost St. Vith the day before. Though his remaining regiment was only a small part of the defense.
BTW, the 82nd Airborne fought in this vicinity, helping secure the next defense line and keeping the line of retreat open for the St. Vith defenders.

COMMENTARY FOR PSALMS 34
David praises God, and encourages to trust him. (1-10) He exhorts to fear. (11-22)
1-10 If we hope to spend eternity in praising God, it is fit that we should spend much of our time here in this work. He never said to any one, Seek ye me in vain. David’s prayers helped to silence his fears; many besides him have looked unto the Lord by faith and prayer, and it has wonderfully revived and comforted them. When we look to the world, we are perplexed, and at a loss. But on looking to Christ depends our whole salvation, and all things needful thereunto do so also. This poor man, whom no man looked upon with any respect, or looked after with any concern, was yet welcome to the throne of grace; the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The holy angels minister to the saints, and stand for them against the powers of darkness. All the glory be to the Lord of the angels. By taste and sight we both make discoveries, and have enjoyment; Taste and see God’s goodness; take notice of it, and take the comfort of it. He makes all truly blessed that trust in him. As to the things of the other world, they shall have grace sufficient for the support of spiritual life. And as to this life, they shall have what is necessary from the hand of God. Paul had all, and abounded, because he was content, #Php 4:11-18|. Those who trust to themselves, and think their own efforts sufficient for them, shall want; but they shall be fed who trust in the Lord. Those shall not want, who with quietness work, and mind their own business.
11-22 Let young persons set out in life with learning the fear of the Lord, if they desire true comfort here, and eternal happiness hereafter. Those will be most happy who begin the soonest to serve so good a Master. All aim to be happy. Surely this must look further than the present world; for man’s life on earth consists but of few days, and those full of trouble. What man is he that would see the good of that where all bliss is perfect? Alas! few have this good in their thoughts. That religion promises best which creates watchfulness over the heart and over the tongue. It is not enough not to do hurt, we must study to be useful, and to live to some purpose; we must seek peace and pursue it; be willing to deny ourselves a great deal for peace’ sake. It is the constant practice of real believers, when in distress, to cry unto God, and it is their constant comfort that he hears them. The righteous are humbled for sin, and are low in their own eyes. Nothing is more needful to true godliness than a contrite heart, broken off from every self-confidence. In this soil every grace will flourish, and nothing can encourage such a one but the free, rich grace of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The righteous are taken under the special protection of the Lord, yet they have their share of crosses in this world, and there are those that hate them. Both from the mercy of Heaven, and the malice of hell, the afflictions of the righteous must be many. But whatever troubles befal them, shall not hurt their souls, for God keeps them from sinning in troubles. No man is desolate, but he whom God has forsaken.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
