Haven’t been on any vacation or even weekend away for 12 years. Not whining – our 12 fur kids are more than worth it, but the truth is it’s hard to find pet sitters, and there are always one or more of the animals that are nearing heaven, or sick and need medicating.
Taking in animals was a choice we made with our eyes open.
And, we are very fortunate. We were blessed decades ago to have found a place to live we love (and work on constantly!). We have acreage, privacy, and peace. Not sure we could find better on vacation. ❤️

This one reminds me of a house which belonged to one of my Godparents. I was quite young. They had an entrance in their house to a basement very similar to this. And on the wall at the bottom of the stars, for some reason they had placed or painted a HUGE clown’s head. I supposed because it was the door to their well equipped rec room with a pool table etc. I remember looking down those darkened stairs in which the light had not been turned on, but wherein there was enough for me to get a good look. Enough to make it look demonic (to my very young self). And I remember feeling a childlike unmooring by it.
Nevertheless, even with that disturbing memory, this one really tickled me 😂

I’m facing little ‘Tinks absence with honesty. I strongly suspect that something happened to her. Probably critters since she’s been staying outside some nights. William Sangster was a Bible-believing Methodist in a time when the Methodist Church was crumbling in unbelief. Dr. Sangster did all he could to rally his denomination back to the fundamental truths of the faith. This sermon is an example of that bold preaching. Dr. Sangster failed in bringing Methodism back, but never failed in his personal ministry to publish the eternal truths of God’s Word.

“Defeatism” is not a pleasing word, but it is a popular one. Its wide use indicates its serviceableness to those who want to describe the strange temper of the times, a compound of doubt, depression, and hopelessness. All spheres of life are infected. Statesmen feel it. They want peace, but they are so sure that they cannot get it that they bend their whole strength to the preparations for war. Economists feel it. They dread a slump in trade, but they have no confidence in their ability to avoid it. Doctors feel it. Lord Horder said recently: “All is not well with the family doctor…He has lost caste…He must change his own attitude of defeatism.” The Church knows the malady too. I talked with a layman recently who has given all the leisure of the last twenty years to sustain a waning cause in the inner belt of a large city, and looking back over the years he felt that the strain had achieved nothing. “We’ve kept the doors open,” he said. “It has been an awful struggle, and it has left us neither time nor strength for really spiritual things. I asked myself the other day what we had achieved, and I could only conclude that we had done nothing but keep the minister and the caretaker!” Some ministers are in the same slough of despond. Sharing their problems with me recently, some young men raised the question as to whether the Church, as an institution, was under sentence of death and if, with their life before them, they ought to remain in the ministry. They appeared to think that any efforts to resuscitate it was “painting the ship while she goes down.”
But how remote all this sounds from the spirit of the New Testament and how strange among the people who recovered, for all Christendom, the Pauline doctrine of assurance! Concerning this doctrine Doctor Denney said, “Speaking broadly, we may say that in Romish churches it is regarded as essentially akin to presumption; in the Protestant churches it is a privilege or a duty; but in the New Testament it is simply a fact.”

How do you know you’re saved?
The one thing universal with angels, believers and demons is the desire to be in the presence of God. It is overwhelming at times, so strong it overshadows this existence. I can only imagine the angels desire.
Demons are fallen angels, what they hate is the believers having a relationship with God. I would guess that it’s jealousy.
You wish to be a warrior for Christ???? Build a relationship with Jesus. It’s not the “sensational” it’s the quiet meditation that moves mountains.
Peace will crumble when you attempt that relationship.

COMMENTARY FOR MICAH 6:8
God’s controversy with Israel. (1-5) The duties God requires. (6-8) The wickedness of Israel. (9-16)
1-5 The people are called upon to declare why they were weary of God’s worship, and prone to idolatry. Sin causes the controversy between God and man. God reasons with us, to teach us to reason with ourselves. Let them remember God’s many favours to them and their fathers, and compare with them their unworthy, ungrateful conduct toward him.
6-8 These verses seem to contain the substance of Balak’s consultation with Balaam how to obtain the favour of Israel’s God. Deep conviction of guilt and wrath will put men upon careful inquiries after peace and pardon, and then there begins to be some ground for hope of them. In order to God’s being pleased with us, our care must be for an interest in the atonement of Christ, and that the sin by which we displease him may be taken away. What will be a satisfaction to God’s justice? In whose name must we come, as we have nothing to plead as our own? In what righteousness shall we appear before him? The proposals betray ignorance, though they show zeal. They offer that which is very rich and costly. Those who are fully convinced of sin, and of their misery and danger by reason of it, would give all the world, if they had it, for peace and pardon. Yet they do not offer aright. The sacrifices had value from their reference to Christ; it was impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sin. And all proposals of peace, except those according to the gospel, are absurd. They could not answer the demands of Divine justice, nor satisfy the wrong done to the honour of God by sin, nor would they serve at all in place of holiness of the heart and reformation of the life. Men will part with any thing rather than their sins; but they part with nothing so as to be accepted of God, unless they do part with their sins. Moral duties are commanded because they are good for man. In keeping God’s commandments there is a great reward, as well as after keeping them. God has not only made it known, but made it plain. The good which God requires of us is, not the paying a price for the pardon of sin and acceptance with God, but love to himself; and what is there unreasonable, or hard, in this? Every thought within us must be brought down, to be brought into obedience to God, if we would walk comfortably with him. We must do this as penitent sinners, in dependence on the Redeemer and his atonement. Blessed be the Lord that he is ever ready to give his grace to the humble, waiting penitent.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
