It bothered me once when people told me they were looking around while people prayed to see who was really praying.
During prayers in a church service.
But then it was said to bother me.
To me, that is rude ugly behavior. Taking pictures during the prayer is worse.
If it were a picture from a different table, it would still be rude. But this is from the head of the table. From one of the people who is supposed to be part of the prayer.
Imagine your pastor doing this while leading his flock in prayer. I suppose televised services automatically do this, but you know in advance that they will film you. Those camera people must be trained very differently than most. Otherwise the people not praying would be highlighted.
I don’t know the thinking. I’m praying with my eyes open. I’m showing this to the world as proof of men’s faith. Or I’m mocking faith and sharing my mockery to the world.
But whatever lies behind it, You are right. It is ugly behavior.

I keep the birdbaths filled along with bowls of water and food for the night feeders, remembering my much younger days when I couldn’t wait to “lie out” in it… where oh where did those days go? Morning, girl 💕☕ When I was doing the school runs for my three nearest to me little grands, I used to slowly drive them to my house through a park with a body of water running through it which was filled with ducks and turtles. We all loved watching them, and it was a real bonus if there was no one behind us so we could stop for a moment. In Wales, we’d often take a road trip to Ellesmere, park up, get out, and feed the ducks, geese and swans which lived on the small lake. in fact, I’m there right now (in a manner of speaking 😌)…I hope that day will come for you 😘👍🏻.

Oh that sounds wonderful and beautiful. I only get some Wood Ducks early Spring and Fall on my pond. Usually only for a couple of weeks each season, but I have a lot of turtles that sun themselves on the bank. I do get Great Blue Herons and Great Egrets regularly on the pond looking for a meal.
I can sit at my table in the kitchen, at my big window, and watch them as it looks directly at the pond in Blue’s one acre pasture. One of my pleasures while drinking my coffee in the early morning.
Similar to our back garden in Wales where we had Koi given to us by a man who was getting rid of his pond. Until one day I came home from shopping and saw a great heroin on our pond’s edge helping himself. I made a sort of scarecrow, but he simply snorted at it (I imagine) and carried on. Such are the perils of loving in thencountryside…
Yesterday a huge hawk…I mean HUUGE!!…landed in a red bud just outside our window. He rested a while but not long enough for me to get a good picture, alas. Magnificent!!

Love this and I am laughing out loud. On my ranch I had ducks. I would love to get some but am afraid the coyote would get them. My hens are gone, picked off one at a time, mostly on Sunday when I am at church. I’ve only got “Mozart” my beautiful rooster now and I know he is lonely as he spends most mornings and early evenings up by my fence looking for me. He spends the hottest part of the day in a dirt hole he has dug under the lean to next to the coop.
I will try to get him some hens when the weather gets cooler in the Fall. I miss watching my hens during the day.

My sister in law still keeps a few though not as many as she once had. And my younger daughter has built a coop in her expansive back yard. She sent a picture of her oldest, my granddaughter, trying to read outside, sitting on a step, with one of the brood pestering her around her fert. Sadie kept on reading, but reached out to pet her, for which of course the hen stopped to enjoy. I hope you are able to provide company for your Mozart. I am having a jolly good time thinking of names for them…”Tatiana” would be one, “Countess” another…both Mozartian of course 💕

the overwhelming demand for the little fluff balls has certainly degraded the breed population as a whole.

and they are wonderful watchdogs – they will watch a burglar come in and watch him go out,

I agree that cuteness in puppies should never be the sole criteria for choosing a dog, though it is exceedingly tempting. People who love dogs…I mean truly love and appreciate them…should do their research before selecting. Because like people, each breed has its own qualities, peculiarities, and purposes for which they were bred. Unfortunately it doesn’t happen as often as it should.
As for unintended responses…
One of the most wonderful aspects of this Tree is that no matter the topic, inspired diversion from it can’t be avoided, nor in my opinion do we want it to be. We are a forum for conversation and camaraderie. Faces may be unknown but the human connections are eternal. Let those perhaps unexpected responses flow on, my friend. The best parts of commenting, learning from others, dredging up our own memories which inspire the emergence of memories from others…a retreat from the world where such conversatios are darned near impossible because no one listens any longer.

My golden wolf mix was a very special dog to everyone. Even when we fostered a group of dogs from one location they recognized her Alpha supremacy and respected her despite them figuring out that she was blind and deaf in her old age. I just tell people certain breeds are a lot of dog (too much) for most people.
Afternoon, dear Bet. Just returned from a leisurely lunch/conversation with a best friend. I’m soon to be 82 years old. Now that I’m in my 80’s I find I’m much more appreciative of genuinely close friends. I’ve always been thankful for good friends but, of late my appreciation has grown even more. Yesterday, I visited Austin for a similarly long lunch with my car buddies, friends I’ve known since the early 70’s . . . Remember Shoal Creek Saloon? Still there and still going strong with great food and a “distinctive” old Austin ambiance. 🙂

I realize mass-produced for commercial marketing wasnt going to get me a nice, (relatively) fitted shirt. I was willing to concede on that one.
Checked meijer and hobby lobby. No luck meeting all three, let alone two, criteria.
I am NOT a shopper, so “going out shopping” is not part of my lifestyle.
Ended up finding really nice ones at costco of all places. Was there for my tri-annual trip for 240# of dog food 🙂
The costco shirts were a lands end brand; 100% cotton and made in the US of A. $12. I could deal with that!

COMMENTARY FOR PSALMS 85
Prayers for the continuance of former mercies. (1-7) Trust in God’s goodness. (8-13)
1-7 The sense of present afflictions should not do away the remembrance of former mercies. The favour of God is the fountain of happiness to nations, as well as to particular persons. When God forgives sin, he covers it; and when he covers the sin of his people, he covers it all. See what the pardon of sin is. In compassion to us, when Christ our Intercessor has stood before thee, thou hast turned away thine anger. When we are reconciled to God, then, and not till then, we may expect the comfort of his being reconciled to us. He shows mercy to those to whom he grants salvation; for salvation is of mere mercy. The Lord’s people may expect sharp and tedious afflictions when they commit sin; but when they return to him with humble prayer, he will make them again to rejoice in him.
8-13 Sooner or later, God will speak peace to his people. If he do not command outward peace, yet he will suggest inward peace; speaking to their hearts by his Spirit. Peace is spoken only to those who turn from sin. All sin is folly, especially backsliding; it is the greatest folly to return to sin. Surely God’s salvation is nigh, whatever our difficulties and distresses are. Also, his honour is secured, that glory may dwell in our land. And the truth of the promises is shown by the Divine mercy in sending the Redeemer. The Divine justice is now satisfied by the great atonement. Christ, the way, truth, and life, sprang out of the earth when he took our nature upon him, and Divine justice looked upon him well pleased and satisfied. For his sake all good things, especially his Holy Spirit, are given to those who ask him. Through Christ, the pardoned sinner becomes fruitful in good works, and by looking to and trusting in the Saviour’s righteousness, finds his feet set in the way of his steps. WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

I’m pretty involved right now with her care so not sure how much I’ll be able to be here. But thank you and all others for your prayers. Savannah doesn’t like psychotropic of any kinds so she goes more holistic natural remedies. We will be careful. She is quite strong, but they did a lot of damage to her mostly not seen by the pictures. But she’s steadfast and she clung to God, so we praise God. We will have to go in to file police reports on Monday. We need to get the ringleaders in jail. They’re using small children- 4 of them aged 9 months to 5 years old for panhandling and taking their money. Panhandling is against the law here. There was much violence and Savannah lost twin babies on her birthday due to miscarriage but she was grateful because she knew the streets were no life for children. The stories are horrific and she had nightmares last night. I’m sure that may be that way for a while… but God is good and we are so thankful.
We are not finished though… there are so many others out there who desperately need help and the police is ill equipped and shorthanded and what hands they have are tied by politics.
We need to stop that. It was private citizens who saved my daughter and two police cars and a fire truck who created distraction when the perpetrators were trying to hide her in the bathroom.
The restaurant district manager was all over it and it was a total operation to extract her. It was remarkable and God handled all the timing and logistics beautifully.
My precious girl is home and with just one night, sleep, food… our hair dresser taking care of her to refresh her… she looks so much better.
Now we heal her heart and mind.
