Not really disputing what HMM has written, but I have a thing, a disagreement if you will with all this sacrifice stuff. Why, I ask myself would a loving, merciful, all good Creator require me to drag myself through life, in the mud, with torn bruised body and soul just to “prove” my loyalty and commitment – in the hope of being worthy (at the end) of receiving His promise of peace and happiness?. Sorry, I find difficulty in reconciling with this.
Certainly, I understand that if the “sacrifice” requires me to abstain or withdraw from worldly pleasures that lead to sin and the further demise/downgrading of His Creation, I’ll all in – but to be asked to view and live life through the lens of suffering is a bit much.
God, Himself alludes to this in Isaiah 58:5 “ You humble yourselves by going through the motions of penance, bowing your heads like reeds bending in the wind. You dress in burlap and cover yourselves with ashes. Is this what you call fasting? (sacrifice) Do you really think this will please the LORD?”
Rather, when we look at/experience His Creation (Everything) we learn to see/recognize the Godliness that is treasured (often hidden) within – beginning with ourselves and then our external reality in order to “unlock” “reveal” that Godliness, often covered by “husks”.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might” – and your neighbor as yourself.
It’s pretty difficult for a person to do that when they are crushed by the weight of sacrifice and guilt.
Isaiah 58 opens much greater depth, and this verse is my favorite – “Then your light shall break forth as the dawn, and your healing shall quickly sprout, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall gather you in.” Much better than wallowing in the mud IMO

God offered (sacrificed) His Son to redeem man unto Himself and what He has prepared for them who seek Him, love Him, and offer (sacrifice) their life to Him – to do as He pleases with you as a vessel until He (Jesus Christ) returns.

Nothing in this world compares to what He has in store for you.
To be clear, I’m not talking about sacrifice in the sense of offering something as a “payment” (redeeming) of previous sin, but the idea that we approach our service to God, not as a “sacrifice”, a hardship to endure, but as a “partnership” with God in order to reveal His Godliness here in this world – which when darkness is removed is everywhere. The idea being that when people look at you/us they see God-liness. Imagine such a world for yourself where everybody and everything is that reflection, it’s not impossible.
Quite frankly I don’t concern myself much with the “what’s in store” whether in this life or the next (which we know nothing about), but rather with how can I bring God into THIS life. Then it is no longer a “sacrifice” but a pleasure.
This is a fallen world full of sinners.
God was merciful by the sacrifice of Jesus.
We do not need to think we earn it by our sacrifice, Jesus did that.
We accept Jesus as our Savior and our Lord.
We live in a fallen world and we will be “drug through the mud”
and blinded by the ”god of this world”.
We should start studying the Word of God to renew our mind
and have the mind of Christ.
I think in Isaiah 58 it about people going through the rituals and sacrifices,
but God knows their hearts.

Your welcome. My homestead is in the Level 3 area. I already took down my flags leaving my 30′ pole bare and secured our deck furniture. Sherry will bring in her potted plants later today. It’s trash day so my two plastic rolling cans are out by the road, but after the trash pickup runs I’ll bring both of them in the garage and then I will be pull my old pickup up so the front end is under the 10′ overhang over the garage apron also.
It’s bird and squirrel feeding day so time to go feed the critters.
I lined the top of the fence for the dog run with 32 peanuts. It took 35 minutes for the jays to have them all gone.
When we lived in Ohio every few weeks we’d buy big bags of peanuts for the blue Jays.

There is a court case today. It is for custody of a young girl. Mom desires and needs full custodial rights and supervised visits. Dad unfortunately has gone off the deep end and is living life as a lie (woman). This deranged man is also demanding support from mom’s income, which she only now has because she had to leave him to support herself since he lost his job. He is claiming that she must support him financially while he goes to university. Such selfishness. All the grandparents are aghast at the situation. This young man had a good upbringing too. He became depressed, went to an Army provided “counselor” a few years ago and was doing online gaming and now is demonically ill and wrecking multiple lives.
It is expected that there will be shared custody but my prayer is that the judge will allow divine justice to be on display in that courtroom.
So sorry to hear about this.
It is probably happening way more across this country than we can fathom.

Doc and I lived and traveled in the American western states for most of our lives. If memory serves .. what the article states is true. Fires were not as devastating in the 1980s as they are now. Many life-long residents bitterly resent current government policies which increasingly endanger life and property.
Yesterday a huge section of the middle part of the state was highlighted in red fire warnings. This from today’s forecast:
Windy and very warm with plenty of sunshine; gusty winds, low humidity and dry brush will result in an elevated wildfire risk
And that is all the warning you get. A small spark or lightening from a dry storm explodes suddenly.
Or some hateful wacko with a bic lighter.
i know it’s possible .. even probable. But given where most fires start it’s more likely another source. With July 4 looming, fireworks. with good wx camp fires. dry lightening is a common starter. The list is long.
The point of the article is .. get it stopped ASAP. Also, correct husbandry to mitigate fuel. I always wonder why animals are not ’employed’ to help with hard to mow areas and fields.. Dead trees have to be taken out. Fire lanes need to exist.
Do-gooders and iggorant politicians don’t help the situation.
Good question, ms Idaho. My husband’s cousin was a forester and land manager.
He strongly advocated for the use of Long Horn cattle for brush and undergrowth clearing.
He said they were much more efficient and easier to manage than goats.
Goats are rather picky eaters but Long Horns eat any and all vegetation plus with their large size can trample their way through just about anything.
He died suddenly while giving a speech before the Alabama Forestry Commission a few years ago and I don’t know what became of his idea.
I would think cattle, goats, sheep and equines could all be used in different terrain.

What about parents? Would it be acceptable to hold parents accountable for basic knowledge taught their children? If not who is accountable?

Troubles neither cause nor show any abatement of his love. Whatever believers may be separated from, enough remains. None can take Christ from the believer: none can take the believer from Him; and that is enough. All other hazards signify nothing. Alas, poor sinners! though you abound with the possessions of this world, what vain things are they! Can you say of any of them, Who shall separate us? You may be removed from pleasant dwellings, and friends, and estates. You may even live to see and seek your parting. At last you must part, for you must die. Then farewell, all this world accounts most valuable. And what hast thou left, poor soul, who hast not Christ, but that which thou wouldest gladly part with, and canst not; the condemning guilt of all thy sins! But the soul that is in Christ, when other things are pulled away, cleaves to Christ, and these separations pain him not. Yea, when death comes, that breaks all other unions, even that of the soul and body, it carries the believer’s soul into the nearest union with its beloved Lord Jesus, and the full enjoyment of him for ever.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
