On Monday afternoon, the defense team officially rested its case without calling Karmelo Anthony to the stand. According to multiple media observers the defense was very weak. The defense witnesses ended up being solid witnesses for the prosecution upon cross examination.
The evidence against Karmelo Anthony is overwhelming. The defense was reliant upon previous fabrications sold to the media that did not prove out in the courtroom.
The prosecution witnesses were consistent and strong in the case against the accused.
The jury was dismissed for the day Monday and is expected to return Tuesday morning for closing arguments.
There was an initial discussion about a plea agreement, likely spurred by the weight of the prosecution. However, no plea deal was reached, likely rejected by the prosecution, and the case is now headed toward jury deliberation.
Keep in mind if Karmelo Anthony had taken a plea agreement before the trial, his family would not have been able to fundraise from the process. The decision to push the case to trial was as much for financial gain as it was a roll of the dice on whether their attempted racist narrative would work.
The jury will be sequestered during deliberation.
Karmelo Anthony is ineligible for both the death penalty and life in prison without parole since he was only 17 when he killed Austin Metcalf.
The maximum sentencing he’ll receive is life in prison with the possibility of parole, if he is convicted on his first-degree murder charge. This means parole eligibility after 30 years, or half of his sentence, depending on the specifics.
Look at the NYPD Crime Report for New York City in 2025. Over 94% of the violent crime and murders were committed by Blacks and Hispanics.
Only 6% were committed by White and Asians according to the NYPD which doesn’t include Hispanic in the White category like the FBI does to hide the truth from the Americans who actually pay the taxes that pay their salaries!
Anthony will end up like Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding from Shawshank Redemption. He’ll be an “institutionalized old man with only a few marbles rolling around in his head.”
He’ll earn his Bachelor, Masters, and PhD. in Sociology, write a few books on Social Injustice, give interviews, social media influencer and earn an early parole.

Well right now he is a young man with only a very few marbles rolling around in his head. So you assume that he will learn something in prison. something I cannot imagine. And I trust we all hope he will be a VERY old man, and a 30 years and out on parole is NOT enough for his crime. He’d be 48 or 49 at that point. No skills, no job prospects. What use will he be? Will he have learned other criminal skills in prison? Since few support capital punishment these days, can we at least make a life sentence exactly that – a lifetime in prison?
There were many reasons God commanded murderers to be stoned. It got rid of the cancer, it showed the community that the world is sinful, and it was THEIR responsibility to get rid of it.
In the long run it didn’t work…because of our sin, but the principles still apply. We lawful people in this country bear too much of the burden for these people, through time, taxation and resources. Why do we put up with it?

When one contemplates years of the mating rituals in prison it seems odd that they would choose to not testify in their own defense.
My late FiL was a former Asst. US Attorney and one of the country’s top trial lawyers. He said “While it’s not a certainty that a criminal defendant who refuses to testify in his own defense is guilty. But it’s the way to bet.”

The defense knew they had nothing and were hoping for “jury nullification” to get this thug off. But when all the other blacks were removed from the jury (for good cause) it was clear they were going to lose. My guess is they are trying to lose and hoping to get a retrial on appeal claiming all blacks were rejected and racism, or something.
If Karmelo had killed my son, all these discussions about him wouldn’t be happening, because he would be gone from this world too. The cause of his death would NOT be ruled as murdered/homicide.

I heard something about jury tampering. Didn’t look into it. I kind of didn’t care as much any more. The BLM doesn’t really exist. It has been “defunded” and the copycat grifters didn’t have the backing of the Democrat party. This is the practical outcome.
They only support causes where there is a clean line between the narratives. There is a lot of weight and pressure on black people to be black. They live in an imaginary USA, parallel with the rest of the country and it is mostly voluntary.
There are voices of black Americans who have rejected this construct placed upon black people in this country and they a hated by black people because of it…. they are not members of the tribe.

Karmelo’s family and grifters raised a fair amount of money using Karmelo’s name. They cited security costs but the guy they paid wasn’t licensed or qualified for that in Texas. A lot of expensive things were acquired by the family early on in this. I don’t know what was spent on the legal defense but they have a public defender. The assumption is they have squandered the whole thing.
This Democrat thing they do destroys black families. Not in the slightest bit ‘family’ as we understand it to be.
One thing about this family? They are definitely black to the standards and expectations set by the Democratic media. They played the part well. But they never stopped to realize that they didn’t have the backing and support of the Democratic fund raising machine.

The concern is the appeal process after this murderer’s conviction: the all white jury may be a vector of attack for rabid race obsessed attorneys.

I would love to see some verification of articles from last year that say Karmelo was actually suspended from his school for having a knife (apparently, the same knife), and that we was not even supposed to be at the track meet because he was suspended.
Recently, I saw a comment that judges will typically not allow the ‘history’ of defendants to be exposed in trials as they don’t want the jury to be biased against the defendant.
But to me, it just seems so relevant if Karmelo had this history. If so, his school could be subjected to quite a law suit if they had allowed him to attend this track meet.

I hate to say it, but I think the state should’ve offered a plea deal. 30yrs would’ve been a pretty solid conviction… even with parole possible at like 20. I don’t think the kid meant to kill, but I definitely think he meant to seriously injure and thereby hope to gain some kind of clout. He went looking for trouble. It went wrong by his likely plan, but that doesn’t excuse him.
I seriously doubt there isn’t one white-knight Karen on the jury in stealth mode that’s now going to spring forth and hang this jury.
I think the defense purposely ‘botched’ the trial to add grounds for a re-trial. Their aim all along is to carry this out into multiple trials and hope to finally plea it down to 10yrs or something… “hasn’t everyone had enough!.. lets get at least some justice finally” .. that kind of mess.
I see zero good outcomes for justice in this trial.
The prosecution has a feeling they’ll get a hung jury and that’s what they are counting on. They don’t want to get a conviction because they fear the repercussions in ‘the community’ (the community of imported rabble-rousers they know the Left has waiting).
When they get their hung jury, they’ll have a presser where a lot of very concerned and serious looking faces will furrow their brows and ponder openly about “how could it have gone so wrong!”… and secretly be beaming that they just avoided having to actually convict a killer out of fear of ‘reprisals in the community’.

Prosecutors agreed to allow the jury to consider ‘sudden passion’ as a factor when determining his sentence, which means the defense can argue that he was in an intense emotional state when he committed the crime. If the jury accepts the sudden passion argument, the murder charge will be reduced to a second-degree felony, which brings down the sentence to two to 20 years behind bars.
