Timmy does this thing where he opens up drawers, roots and digs around for pony tail holders, and then grrrrrrrrssss with them as he deposits them in food bowls, shoes, or in your lap to flip at him to chase! Sadly, he leaves all the drawers opens (woops! my shin!)

Afternoon Dear Bets and all Treepers!
This is my sweet boy, Ozzie, last night on the couch with his favorite friend, sister, and littermate in the world, Harriet. They are both 18+ years old and have myriad health issues. The last few days he took a turn for the worse. I stayed with them on the couch, thinking it might be our last night together.
Harriet, herself has advanced kidney disease, but cuddled with him throughout the night.
This morning, he made something of a mini recovery, for which I am thankful, but I know he’ll be crossing the Rainbow Bridge soon.
Got here very late, but am really loving all the great posts – I need to smile!

Ozzie actually used to be bigger, but heart problems, osteoporosis and other things sadly intervened. He looks like something akin to an Auschwitz survivor. But, still talks to me, purrs, and head butts! I love him so.

I tell him every day (okay several times) how much I love him, and how glad I am he chose me to be his mom.
This week, I started reading from the top instead of the bottom working my way up as I usually do, dear Corny. I had a feeling well before I arrived to this mournful news that something was not right in your loving home.
I will keep watch with you in spirit over your precious babies…the one thing I always knew was coming with each of ours but tried hard to shove the thought of their leaving as far back as I could. To no avail 💔 I hope that when the time comes, it will be a peaceful passing for both. The very best we can pray for our beloved companions who have given us so much comfort and joy.

Evening dear Bet. Had a pleasant afternoon today. An old friend I hadn’t sen for awhile and I went to a small car show. It actually wasn’t much as car shows go—not many cars at all in fact. Still we met and talked with some enthusiastic car-club members (British cars) all of whom were quite nice. Not all car shows are successful—they had a what if you give a show and nobody comes . . .? kind of moment—although we still
had a good time talking to fellow gear heads.
My friend had been out of town for a couple of years caring for a dying relative so it was good to reconnect. I’ve been spending more time time in the house lately. Sensing this, Little ‘Tink has been coming out from her hiding places to spend more time sitting next to me while I drink coffee. She’s such a good kitty. I swear she knows when I’m writing a post to you—she rewards me/us with soft kitty hello purrs. . . Be well, love. Enjoy your evening. 🙂

Wow, a real walk down memory lane. Merle Haggard’s Kern River and Tulare Dust followed by Buck Owen’s Streets of Bakersfield.
Merle Haggard was from Oildale (he calls it oil town in the song), a tiny town on the north side of the Kern River with Bakersfield on the south side of the river. Oildale was founded by several large land owners in the early 1900s – one of them being my great grandfather, Andy Ferguson.
I was born and raised in Oildale. Everybody listened to Cousin Herb on the radio every day.

Me too,sc.My grandfather was stationed in the Aleutians,but his brother was D-Day,albeit +5 or 6 (across France).He didn’t talk about it too much (and i was pretty young),but I remember him saying to my grandfather that they would run to where shells had just exploded,as the mortars hardly ever hit the same place twice.Everything was said in very low and reverent tones,especially when talking about buddies who didn’t make it home…

The “Bedford Boys” were 35 National Guard soldiers from Bedford, Virginia, assigned to Company A of the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Division. Landing in the first wave on Omaha Beach (Dog Green sector) on June 6, 1944, they suffered the highest per capita D-Day loss of any U.S. community, with 19 killed instantly and 20 total D-Day fatalities from the town.
My husband and I took a veteran there in 1995. He had been in Patton’s army and landed on D-Day + 5. He said he couldn’t recognize a thing. We went in February and we’re the only people at the cemetery. Incredible experience. Our veteran friend was welcomed everywhere we went in Normandy. Free drinks, free desserts, free admission to all of the museums.

This is my boy, Lordy, short for Lordsburro. We got him from a Christian boys camp because they had too many animals to feed.
We had him for over 25 years; he died at 31.
One of the saddest days of my life.

Ordinary Time: June 6th
Today is the Optional Memorial of St. Norbert (1080-1134). Norbert was born at Xanten near Cologne about the year 1080. As a young cleric he resided at the court of the Archbishop of Cologne and then at that of the emperor where he allowed himself to be influenced by the spirit of the world. But he was won back by grace; caught by a storm during a journey on horseback he made up his mind to take his clerical obligations seriously. After ordination to the priesthood he devoted himself to itinerant preaching.
In 1120, on the advice of the bishop of Laon, he settled in the forest of Voix, not far from Soissons at a place called Premontre, in order to found a community of regular Canons. In 1126 he was sent to what was then one of the outposts of Christendom for he was appointed archbishop of Magdeburg. He died in 1134.
St. Norbert
Although a cleric, Norbert led a very worldly life for a number of years. The decisive change took place suddenly in 1115. While riding one day, he was overtaken by a thunderstorm. A flash of lightning struck the ground before him, the horse threw him, and he seemed to hear a voice upbraiding him for his conduct.
As in the case of St. Paul, the experience wrought a complete transformation. Norbert decided to give away his property and income rights, and to lead a life of abnegation, devoting himself particularly to preaching. In 1120 he founded the Order of Premonstratensians (the first monastery was at Premontre) according to the rule of St. Augustine; approval came from Pope Honorius II in 1126.
In 1125, he was named archbishop of Magdeburg. On July 13, 1126, Norbert entered the city and came barefoot to the cathedral. About to enter the archepiscopal palace, he was refused admission by the porter, who failed to recognize a bishop so poorly dressed. “You know me better and see me with clearer eyes than those who are forcing me to this palace. Poor and wretched man that I am, I should never have been assigned to this place,” Norbert answered when the porter later sought his pardon.
On June 6th, the Roman Martyrology commemorates:
-ST. NORBERT, bishop of Magdeburg, founder of the Premonstratensian Order.
-At Caesarea, in Palestine, the birthday* of blessed Philip, one of the first seven deacons. Being renowned for miracles and prodigies, he converted Samaria to the faith of Christ, baptized the eunuch of Candaces, queen of Ethiopia, and finally rested in peace at Caesarea. Near him are buried three of his daughters, virgins and prophetesses. His fourth daughter died at Ephesus, filled with the Holy Ghost.
-At Rome, St. Artemius, with his wife Candida and his daughter Paulina. Artemius became a believer through the preaching and miarcles of St. Peter the Exorcist, who was baptized with all his house by the priest St. Marcellinus. By order of the judge Serenus, he was scourged with whips strung with leaden balls, and struck with the sword. His wife and daughter were forced into a pit and overwhelmed with stones and earth.
-At Tarsus, in Cilicia, in the time of Diocletian and Maximian, and the governor Simplicius, twenty holy martyrs who, by various torments, glorified God in their bodies.
-At Noyon, in France, the holy martyrs Amatius, Alexander, and their companions.
-At Fiesoli, in Tuscany, St. Alexander, bishop and martyr.
-At Milan, the demise of St. Eustorgius II, bishop and confessor.
-At Verona, St. John, bishop.
-At Besancon, in France, St. Claude, bishop.

So I’ve been looking for a used shop stool, preferably with a padded seat. Figured I should be able to find one cheap. After months of looking I finally said enough! I went to Harbor Freight and bought what I needed. It’s on casters, nice padded and very comfortable motorcycle type seat with adjustable seat and foot rest heights. For some reason they don’t show this model at the Harbor Freight website so I can’t show it to you. Now I have something to sit on while working or sorting bolts, nuts, screws, and nails at my work bench.
Ahhh. Cup of coffee and clean the guns at the bench! I can smell the oil.

COMMENTARY FOR ROMANS 5:1
The happy effects of justification through faith in the righteousness of Christ. (1-5) That we are reconciled by his blood. (6-11) The fall of Adam brought all mankind into sin and death. (12-14) The grace of God, through the righteousness of Christ, has more power to bring salvation, than Adam’s sin had to bring misery, (15-19) as grace did superabound. (20,21)
1-5 A blessed change takes place in the sinner’s state, when he becomes a true believer, whatever he has been. Being justified by faith he has peace with God. The holy, righteous God, cannot be at peace with a sinner, while under the guilt of sin. Justification takes away the guilt, and so makes way for peace. This is through our Lord Jesus Christ; through him as the great Peace-maker, the Mediator between God and man. The saints’ happy state is a state of grace. Into this grace we are brought, which teaches that we were not born in this state. We could not have got into it of ourselves, but we are led into it, as pardoned offenders. Therein we stand, a posture that denotes perseverance; we stand firm and safe, upheld by the power of the enemy. And those who have hope for the glory of God hereafter, have enough to rejoice in now. Tribulation worketh patience, not in and of itself, but the powerful grace of God working in and with the tribulation. Patient sufferers have most of the Divine consolations, which abound as afflictions abound. It works needful experience of ourselves. This hope will not disappoint, because it is sealed with the Holy Spirit as a Spirit of love. It is the gracious work of the blessed Spirit to shed abroad the love of God in the hearts of all the saints. A right sense of God’s love to us, will make us not ashamed, either of our hope, or of our sufferings for him.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
