Truth: We have a long way to go to hit $148/barrel peak oil from 07/08 and on an inflation adjusted basis it was well over $200/barrel. We are far away from that ($95/today).
Oil was 3.9% of economy in 2007, today it is 2.6%.
And the fun thing is that a good portion of the money spent on oil actually flows back into the US economy, rather than being shipped overseas, as shale wasn’t a factor in 2007.
Add to the fact that we are now exporting record amounts of oil at high prices and it is a stimulant to the American economy, not a drag.

A few years ago I went back to where we lived when I was in HS. Some places had changed so much they were totally unrecognizable. Others were like stepping back in time, without any noticeable changes at all.
It’s stunning the amount of memory one’s brain stores, down to the most minute details – and how it can whisk one back to another time when exposed to an associated place.
To a degree, happiness is a choice we make each and every day – and one of its keys is to not destroy it through comparison to other moments in our lives, but instead to seek the positive in the here and now.
