We had plenty in Wales. These are protected, and it is punishable by law if their homes are disturbed. Consequently, we discovered they had made one in the attic of our detached garage. One evening as it was getting dark, I positioned myself in the enclosed small porch of our house and started counting as they departed for their nightly feed…
One right after another after another…I stopped at 237. Yes, that is not a typo. No rabies in Britain, no worries.
And talk about ravenous!! I put out seed cakes out for the birds and squirrels here; but I am finding those squirrels are going through about one every day. Too expensive to carry on, but as you say…conundrum as I can’t bear to think of any animal going hungry.
I think, as I’ve said before with Pat, you and I are definitely sisters from another mother 😂💕
Wow! 237 bats. Batty Bets! I’m not sure how many we get, but, we have water troughs throughout our property, hummingbird feeders, and even a bat house we built – so…….no leg to stand on. Unfortunately, we do indeed have rabies here. Occasionally, there will be a bat sort of “drunkenly” flying mid day – very worrisome. Life really is fraught with puzzlements!

I bet you’re feeling it this morning. I can say this through experience, having ended up on the floor and wondering how the heck did I get there, checking for injuries, and finding, gratefully, I am still in one piece. The trick I’ve discovered is to go as limp as possible on the way down and roll (if possible) when I hit. So far it works. I have a metal plate in my left wrist from not doing that. Lesson learned.
How did we get to this stage?
I remember a famous, elegant grande dame of the British theatre in an interview long ago speaking about how she misstepped and fell onto her back, landing into a London gutter. Instead of being embarrassed, she said she realized there was no point, so just lay there for a few looking up at the sky and its beautiful clouds, advising people frantically rushing to help her that she meant to do it 😂
Now that’s insouciance if you like.

I literally want to rip drivers on their phones from their seat onto the pavement and drive off with their car – a deadly menace they are.
Studies have shown texting while driving is the cause of many times more accidents than drunk driving!
In Britain, you can be arrested for using them awhile driving.
I’ve told our young drivers that nothing is so important that they can’t find a spot to pull over if they want to check. They get it.

In Wales we used to save tired bumblebees which we found on the ground in our garden, struggling.
A concoction of sugar and water, a drop or two so they could drink, a few moments as it took effect, then off they’d fly. I can think of few things more rewarding than to save them. Bigly!!!

These are great, Aggie. And, so true. My grandma was widowed with two small children. Always had a shepherd. As a senior citizen, she drove cross country multiple times in her VW bug and shepherd co-pilot. Never had a problem because no one ever got close enough!

My sister in law in Wales who had a small holding where she kept horses and expensive carriages rescued a shepherd (Jack) from a not very nice man. Bless his heart… Jack’s, not that of the man who didn’t have one….kept her and everything safe.
And though all those years ago the part of North Wales where she lived was peaceful, there were what we called small village “chancers” who would see an opportunity. She would agree with you 💕

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

When God gave His Only Begotten Son;
The ransom for souls – the victory won;
He demonstrated His great love to be;
For all His Beloved – for you and me!
By the Blood of the Lamb – we are redeemed;
There’s no other way it could be it seemed;
His sacrifice was pure – untainted by sin;

What does God want in return for His love?
Is it peace among men or branch of olive?
For what do we strive to do day after day?
What is it we need – to live only His way?
We must love Him with our mind, heart, and soul;
Serve Him through others – His heart to console;
Serve no other gods – no idols have we;
The servant of all – He wants us to be!
We must keep our Sabbath to worship Him;
Not just for one day – but surely passim;
We must honor our earthly mother and dad;
The best of caretakers we ever had!
We must not kill our brother – any way;
In spirit or slander or libel – betray;
We must take not – what belongs not to us;
Or covet the goods of another thus!
We must not covet the wife of any man;
Or lust in our hearts because we can;
No envy or malice can we keep inside;
Nor from God should we ever seek to hide!
We must love our neighbor as Jesus loved;
Do all that we can – make him so beloved;
For it is in giving that we will receive;
And it is in dying – we come to believe!
Dying to self – to follow Jesus, Our Lord;
Is that which will bring us to full accord;
Keeping His Word – we must strive to do;
For God’s Great Love lives in me and you!
