i am under the impression they still have to get approval, and i very much doubt the “you already approved him” argument will work with a senate that is so openly hostile to his and our goals.
I believe he CAN put someone already approved into the position, but only for around 150 days or so. And it’s unpaid if I recall. But rotating these folks in and out could be the perfect play, if they are true MAGA. They can make money on consulting gigs in the meantime.
With previous Senate approval for another Cabinet position, he gets 210 days in office before requiring re-approval from the Senate. Zeldin would have to undergo the process with a new Senate after the midterms. Cornyn and McConnell will be gone.

I sat and counted investigations, starting with RRR and that Coup and running through USAID and ActBlue. I came up with 14 criminal and civil rights events. So far one lawyer was criminally charged.
If these 14 crimes remain unsanctioned, given how we have 535 in Congress who are sclerotically dysfunctional and 850 Presidents courtesy of Article III, it looks to me like the experiment unchained 250 years ago may be judged a failure.

The president is the chief magistrate of the country. How the DOJ and the FBI are managed is ultimately his responsibility. A detailed plan of action for what was needed to be done at the DOJ and at the FBI should have been in place from Day One. It is now plainly evident no such plan of action existed.
Someone, or even a small team of people, should have been specifically assigned inside the White House to keep a close eye on how the DOJ/FBI plan of action was being implemented by the AG and by the FBI Director and on what kinds of problems and issues were emerging.
For example, the Trump Administration has been besieged by an activist judiciary in the lower courts bent on preventing the Trump agenda from being carried out. Fighting that activist judiciary requires talented legal resources, a lot of talented legal resources.
It is a known problem that the DOJ is short staffed and that lawyers from Republican law firms inside the DC Swamp will not work for, or with, the Trump DOJ in the way that Democrat lawyers have been doing in the past because of likely retribution when Trump leaves office.
That little or nothing has been done to address this fundamental problem of a lack of legal resource talent being assigned to the DOJ mission demonstrates that maybe, just maybe, there isn’t any real priority inside the White House to deal with criminals inside the Deep State to the extent the America First voter base expects to see, and deserves to see.
Aggressive action against Deep State criminals is what we voted for, and we aren’t getting it.
