Oil is a commodity. It is a basic component used in economies around the world. Isn’t there any consideration for the consequences that will be widespread for people and businesses?
Apparently the increased cost and lowered availability of diesel has caused a reduction in offshore fishing in Asia. That increases the price and availability of dietary protein for people who depend on the fish. That does not even go into the ability for people in productive industries to make livings.
There is also talk about devastating attacks on infrastructure in Iran. Why? If the threatened destruction is supposed to further stir up the population, it just might work but not to cause the people to rise up against the mullahs. Trump is taking credit and threatening more. Iranians will believe him and blame the Great Satan (the USA) to be their enemy, greater than the mullahs.
I don’t know if what I saw and heard was AI or not, but there is a toxic clip from a recent Trump speech. Trump refers to MBS having to “kiss Trump’s ass.” How does that play in Saudi Arabia and the other gulf states? Will that bring Saudi Arabia back into the petrodollar agreement?

speaking of donuts, there was this annual festival here for years, that paired local distilleries with local donut makers… and for one afternoon you went around and got a small taste of a rye or scotch or bourbon, and then a little bite of donut (usually the hole, incidentally, as it paired better on a toothpick).

Unfortunately a % of our population depends on higher interest rates….Fed policy since 2008 needs to change the banks no longer need the advantages they were given. Banks should have to depend on their depositors for operating money and pay for it’s use.

that said, my dad remains fond of reminding me that his first mortgage was at 12%, and they considered it a steal given what came before. so its a matter of perspective.
i actually think that given a little more time, people will get comfie with the current rates. for a home, it is really not historically ridiculous to pay 6%, but i just think the mental shock of going from so cheap/virtually free money to 7.5+ takes awhile for people to accept it as the new norm.

Court tosses sentence for former clerk in scheme tied to 2020 election
A Colorado appeals court Thursday threw out the nine-year prison sentence for Tina Peters, a former Mesa County clerk convicted on charges related to a scheme to bolster President Donald Trump’s false claims that the 2020 election was stolen.
The court upheld Peters’s conviction but concluded that the judge improperly sentenced her based in part on her repeated false claims about elections. That wasn’t permissible under her First Amendment right to free speech, the court found, and she must be resentenced based on her conduct alone.
A jury convicted Peters of seven charges, including four felonies, in 2024, and District Judge Matthew Barrett sentenced her to nine years in prison. Soon after, Trump and his allies began pushing to get her out.
The Justice Department took the unusual step of intervening in court on behalf of Peters as she sought release. Trump issued her a pardon in December, but the appeals court determined Thursday that the pardon had no practical effect because she was convicted on state charges, not federal charges.

So I did a search and it turns out the Governor Polis is the first out-of-the-closet Gay Governor!

People saw AG Bondi as the main problem, but for me Blanche was even more so. Blanche was in charge of day to day operations and Bondi has no way of knowing how much he ran interference against the efforts to bring the prime suspects we know to account.
I have read many comments in the past that suspected he was really the one causing the slowdown. Sorry, links long gone. I now read that the Justice Department quietly dismantled the Weaponization enquiry group. I can safely speculate that President Trump was not aware of this. This would have to come through Blanches office. I do hope that President Trump is made aware of this. No wonder that not one of the lawfare coup perpetrators have been brought to justice.
Blanche only changed party from Dem to Republican in 2024 if I am not mistaken. Someone needs to keep an eye on him during this interim time. There is too much at stake with the Grand Jury sitting in Florida.

Three things sent a red flag. One he was from NY. If so, why was he not only record, to my understanding, against all that was done to President Trump there, Two I recalled him as not a good player, and three democrat turned republican is a democrat in hiding.

I am well aware of President Trump’s deal approach, but there are millions of people who do not. I worry about the real Iranian people who are giving him praise. This kind of statement is very worrying to them. It also gives fodder to his enemies both outside and inside the country. The internet will go bonkers over this.
He’s not talking to them, he’s talking to the people he’s negotiating with in the country and telling them that there’s far worse heading their way…unless. Same thing with his tweet after the bridge strike, reminding them of all the targets he could have hit, but hasn’t…yet.
