Good evening Betsy. I love this poem. Thank you. I got busy and just now got back to the open thread. Thank you for all the wonderful Caturday images and photos. Do not know which is my favorite today. Do like the little kitten with his monkey though.
You certainly know how to brighten our day with your commitment to bringing us treepers wonderful images on Cursday and Caturday.
The kittens have found my bath rugs to be fun objects to mess with and get under. I have to be careful when I go in as to not step on them as they hide under the rugs. I also have to keep my toilet tissue up on a shelf rather than on the proper holder as they have discovered how much fun it is to unroll and shred it all over the bedroom and bath.
Cleo is by my side wherever I am during the day. Her favorite spot is on the pillow in my office when I am in here. She is here now, sleeping. If I go into my room, she gets up on the bed and rubs all around me if I sit next to her. She will let me pet her and scratch her cheeks. Still does not want to be held and at night sleeps under the bed not on it. I can not go anywhere now without her following me.
The kittens will sleep on the bed against me off and on through the night. Beau does not like the cats on the bed at night so he retreats to his bed or a sofa or chair. I can not get him to share the bed with them. They do like to torment him, playing with his tail or ears. They also want to sleep against him and he wants nothing to do with that. I am hoping in time he relents and comes back to bed. I miss him not being there. That is about all the update I have on these fur babies.

While everyone seems relatively settled as to where they sleep, eat, go to the loo, I’m sure no two days are alike. And what a joy that must be for you. I am living vicariously through you with your unexpected long stay crew. I suspect there was quite a bit of divine direction with Cleo…perhaps for you, perhaps for her. I’d like to believe so…🙏🏻
I suspect one day, she will shock you and let you hold her. It was years before our feral let me near him. I had a small purpose brush for cats that once he deigned to allow me to use it on him, he could never get enough.
But be warned, if that day ever comes, be prepared to have to sit in one place for a while if she gets on your lap…you know what cats are like 😂
My faves today were the little kitten and his monkey, the lady in red…and maybe a surprise, the one with the happy cat when someone noticed him and called him sweetheart. Don’t ask me to explain that one, but it darned near made me weep for many reasons…
One of which is thinking how it would be the same for people who are lost and ignored, not seen…I know you can fill in the rest…

My roommate received his on Dec. 23.
Good for them. Complications for some that are left. I HATE moving, had to bail out of an apartment I was setting up and back to a house that as Executor I will have to eventually sell.
Such is life, God’s grace is sufficient.

Good morning dear Bet and Soazburrolady! In November Elizabeth’s sister graduated. We had her celebration of life in early December. Now we are off to a new adventure in 2026. Just found out that Elizabeth has an invasive breast cancer. We are seeing the surgeon on Tuesday.

English pottery designer and manufacturer (Wedgwood), dies at 64
Biography: Josiah Wedgwood was born into a family of potters, but in an awful irony couldn’t work a potters’ wheel himself after a bout with smallpox left one of his legs badly damaged. After his brother refused to make him a partner he set out on his own and established his own pottery in Stoke-on-Trent in 1769.
As he wasn’t a potter, Wedgwood was able to focus on design. He researched and introduced many new innovative types of pottery including his creamware, black basaltes, and jasperware, the later in new colors including his company’s signature blue known to the world today as ‘wedgwood blue’.
Wedgwood supported the abolition of slavery and in 1787 his firm designed a famous medallion depicting a bound black slave that was mass-produced and donated to the Society for Effecting the Abolition of the Slave Trade.
Wedgwood was also famous for his sales and marketing, using such familiar modern day techniques as money-back guarantees, illustrated catalogues, buy one get one free, and celebrity endorsements, selling to Queen Charlotte and Catherine the Great. He was elected to the Royal Society in 1783 and died in 1795. He is also the grandfather of naturalist Charles Darwin.

Grenville M. Dodge
(1831-1916)
American railroad engineer (Transcontinental Railroad-Union Pacific) and Major General (Union Army), dies at 84
Biography: Grenville Mellen Dodge was a Union Army officer and a key figure in military intelligence during the Civil War, known for serving as Ulysses S. Grant’s intelligence chief in the Western Theater. Dodge also played a significant role in the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad.
Dodge attended Norwich University in Vermont, graduating in 1851 with a degree in civil engineering. He worked as a surveyor and was involved in railroad surveying, notably for the Union Pacific Railroad. In 1854, he married Ruth Anne Browne.
During the Civil War, Dodge joined the Union Army and was appointed Colonel of the 4th Iowa Volunteer Infantry Regiment. He was wounded in battle and played a key role in various campaigns, including the Battle of Pea Ridge and the Atlanta Campaign. He was known for his effective intelligence network, which provided vital information for Union operations.
After the war, Dodge focused on railroad construction, significantly contributing to the building of the Transcontinental Railroad as the Union Pacific’s chief engineer. His engineering skills and strategic decisions were crucial in determining the railroad’s route.
Dodge also ventured into politics, serving as a U.S. Congressman from Iowa’s 5th district from to 1869. He continued his involvement in railroad development and later served on a commission investigating the conduct of the Army during the Spanish–American War.

Austrian naturalist and author (Born Free), murdered at 69 by her servant
Biography: Joy Adamson became famous for her books “Born Free” and their follow-ups which told the real-life story of her attempts to raise the lioness Elsa in Kenya and her later attempts to release the lion back into the wild.
Adamson used the success of “Born Free” to raise money and awareness for conservation in Africa. An illustrator and painter Adamson’s work was often included in her books.

Here are my two cents.
My first response is some appreciation for a flawless Delta Force Operation.
I have said for a while that the whole Israel subject is a distraction from the real burning issues of the US. The education, the drugs, the Progressive/Islamist alliance, etc…
100,000 Americans are dying from overdose per year in the US. For comparison in WW2 about 400,000 Americans died in 4 years. The drug epidemic is more devastating than WW2 numerically in the long run.
So Venezuela was involved in flooding America with heavy drugs. This is enough to justify the use of force.
Venezuela was also collaborating with Iran on weapons development such as drones.
I see it kind of entertaining that Maduro the Communist will be tried in NYC the place of the new Communist Mayor. Maybe it’s a hint for him to watch.
As to Iran, I see it in a much less complex way than Sundance. Iran is an adversary of the US. They chant regularly “Death to America”, they were involved in abducting Americans and their Hezbollah proxy has the blood of hundreds of American Servicemen on their hands in Lebanon. Suicide exposition on the Marins base and more. Iran also declared more than once on the intention to revenge the death of Sulemani that Trump ordered his execution. They have long memory and there is a direct future threat to Trump. Iran is also behind the whole war in Gaza and they didn’t let go of their nuclear ambitions according to them.
So there is an unrest and it is not only an Israeli interest but also American interest to see the Iranians succeed in their revolt.
The only reason the Iranian regime is still in power is by the use of fear against the people. In 2025 alone they executed some 1500-1900 people.
Iran is in a major economic trouble with their currency crushed 90% down in a few years and drying rivers and water sources, rising prices and shortages in energy. Partially because of the sanctions and mainly because they take the resources and use it against Israel and to expand, financing Hezbollah, Houthis, Hamas, etc… nuclear and missile programs and other things that do not benefit the citizens.
The protests expanded to many cities and the Ayatollahs started to kill protesters. The moment Trump issued the warning to Iran, it fueled the protests. If this will be a revolution or not is yet to be seen. But there is a chance. Iran and the world will be a better place if it happens. As a note Iran in its currant state is not really a factor in Syria.
And this is my update about Syria. Syria is virtually in a Civil War. This is not reported at all on Western Media. I watch videos almost daily. The new Syrian President is an ex-Al Qadea but not only him, also his Defense Minister and many of the soldiers.
In many cases they are involved in massacres against minorities and if they were for “stable Syria” they would protect the minorities who are under daily massacres, the Christians, the Allawites, the Druze and Kurds are all under Jihadi attacks with atrocities that I would rather not share here. The President is not controlling most of Syria and his own regime is making Syria into a Taliban style nation. I see the videos of the extreme Jihadis education and the suppression of women etc…
So this President is not in control of even a half of Syria. He is not likely to make it anyways.
As to Gaza, Hamas is not giving up its weapons and no one but the IDF is capable of disarming them. This is a condition of the Trump plan and there is no rebuilding of Gaza or anything with Hamas still in power. So you can guess where this will go eventually. It’s a matter of time. Turkey and Qatar are Muslim Brotherhood ideologically and so is Hamas so there is no way Israel will let them in.

COMMENTARY FOR PSALMS 119
The general scope and design of this psalm is to magnify the Divine law, and make it honourable. There are ten words by which Divine revelation is called in this psalm, and each expresses what God expects from us, and what we may expect from him.
1. God’s law; this is enacted by him as our Sovereign.
2. His way; this is the rule of his providence.
3. His testimonies; they are solemnly declared to the world.
4. His commandments; given with authority.
5. His precepts; not left as indifferent matters to us.
6. His word, or saying; it is the declaration of his mind.
7. His judgments; framed in infinite wisdom.
8. His righteousness; it is the rule and standard of what is right.
9. His statutes; they are always binding
10. His truth or faithfulness; it is eternal truth, it shall
endure for ever.
(1-8) This psalm may be considered as the statement of a believer’s experience. As far as our views, desires, and affections agree with what is here expressed, they come from the influences of the Holy Spirit, and no further. The pardoning mercy of God in Christ, is the only source of a sinner’s happiness…”
(9-16) To original corruption all have added actual sin. The ruin of the young is either living by no rule at all, or choosing false rules: let them walk by Scripture rules…”
(17-24) If God deals in strict justice with us, we all perish. We ought to spend our lives in his service; we shall find true life in keeping his word…”
(25-32) While the souls of the children of this world cleave to the earth as their portion, the children of light are greatly burdened, because of the remains of carnal affections in their hearts…”
(33-40) Teach me thy statutes, not the mere words, but the way of applying them to myself. God, by his Spirit, gives a right understanding. But the Spirit of revelation in the word will not suffice, unless we have the Spirit of wisdom in the heart. God puts his Spirit within us, causing us to walk in his statutes…”
(41-48) Lord, I have by faith thy mercies in view; let me by prayer prevail to obtain them…”
(49-56) Those that make God’s promises their portion, may with humble boldness make them their plea. He that by his Spirit works faith in us, will work for us…”
(57-64) True believers take the Lord for the portion of their inheritance, and nothing less will satisfy them. The psalmist prayed with his whole heart, knowing how to value the blessing he prayed for: he desired the mercy promised, and depended on the promise for it…”
(65-72) However God has dealt with us, he has dealt with us better than we deserve; and all in love, and for our good…”
(73-80) God made us to serve him, and enjoy him; but by sin we have made ourselves unfit to serve him, and to enjoy him. We ought, therefore, continually to beseech him, by his Holy Spirit, to give us understanding…”
(81-88) The psalmist sought deliverance from his sins, his foes, and his fears. Hope deferred made him faint; his eyes failed by looking out for this expected salvation…”
(89-96) The settling of God’s word in heaven, is opposed to the changes and revolutions of the earth. And the engagements of God’s covenant are established more firmly than the earth itself…”
(97-104) What we love, we love to think of. All true wisdom is from God. A good man carries his Bible with him, if not in his hands, yet in his head and in his heart. By meditation on God’s testimonies we understand more than our teachers, when we understand our own hearts. The written word is a more sure guide to heaven, than all the fathers, the teachers, and ancients of the church. We cannot, with any comfort or boldness, attend God in holy duties, while under guilt, or in any by-way. It was Divine grace in his heart, that enabled the psalmist to receive these instructions. The soul has its tastes as well as the body. Our relish for the word of God will be greatest, when that for the world and the flesh is least. The way of sin is a wrong way; and the more understanding we get by the precepts of God, the more rooted will be our hatred of sin; and the more ready we are in the Scriptures, the better furnished we are with answers to temptation.”

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
