I think the best use of electric in vehicles has probably been the hybrid model. Using the motion of the car to power battery to use elsewhere. And decades in the mass produced like Prius, etc. Regular gas engine for most of the work, battery to improve efficiency, etc. Straight electric are good for golf carts and similar. You don’t put a golf cart on the interstate.
IMO the hybrids are even worse than going all-in one way or the other. they are notoriously difficult to work on, break down way more, and have to include all the critical parts of both EV and ICE.
i am not automatically on the bash EV train, but there are several key factors that will be needed before they become viable for me:
The fatal flaw of “clean, green” is that the “clean” electricity has to come from somewhere, at night. That means: coal or natural gas. Furthermore, it is an inherent chemical property of all batteries that you lose energy when you charge them up, and you lose more energy when you drain them down. We pure-and-simple don’t have the technology nor the infrastructure.
An “electric” pickup truck, in particular, was doomed from the start – as every potential truck-owner could immediately see that the vehicle can’t do what these vehicles are purchased to do. As anyone in the car business should have known. They had to have been doing it to attract government subsidies.
In addition, if you live in a condo or apartment complex you have nowhere to charge up at night. EV batteries also will not charge in subzero weather and extremely hot weather erodes battery life.
Eventually the ev battery need$ replaced – and that cost is way, Way more than the standard car battery.
( some decide to skip the battery replacement and the hybrid becomes a standard car ( with uhhh… accessorie$ that also deteriorate ).
Got to get back to fixing a Christmas light…( affordable )… before things ( activities ) become really really busy…

Imagine the complexity of a transmission, driveshafts and axles that would be required to drive all of those wheels. Low reliability with so many moving parts, and it would be nightmare to repair.
Because diesel engines provide greater horsepower, electric motors provide greater torque.
For very fine speed control.

Like others, I’m unsure of the exact role Carlson is playing (Judge Nap interview for example), but this is a great speech, and I don’t disagree with a single word.

Maybe some students heard a bark, but I read they were slow to interview witnesses and some may have left on holiday and so were not interviewed. Hearing from more people might add or detract from the bark idea.
The acoustics in that hall were probably not good. I read the TA had asked a student to come to the front to ask a question just before the shooting started.

The logs can be compared with what MAGA and President Trump wants to get passed and the barrier is the UniParty.

They are not from logging. The land here has been challenged with fire, heavy rains, flooding, saturated soil, high winds and land slides. We were without power for a few days and had to find alternative routs to get to work. Nothing near as bad as what hit the South East a couple of years ago.
All the stumps in those photos…seem to indicate those logs are from logging operations 🤷♂️

That’s what they use at all the TPUSA events. Not sure why this would be any different this year.
