The Brown University shooter has been identified as Claudio Manuel Neves Valente (48) a Portuguese national, green card holder, and former Brown University student. Claudio Valente was identified and found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a storage facility in New Hampshire.
Claudio Valente was a student at Brown University physics PhD program from the fall of 2000 until taking a leave of absence in April of 2001, Brown University President Christina Paxson said. He formally withdrew from the university in 2003; she told reporters Thursday night.
There is no known motive being discussed, however Valante is also accused of killing MIT Professor Nuno Loureiro, 47, who was fatally shot in his Brookline home on Monday December 15th.
The killer, Valante, and the victim, Professor Loureiro, attended the same university in Portugal.
Before killing MIT Professor Louriero in Massachusetts on Monday, Claudio Valente entered a Brown University study session in the Barus & Holley engineering and physics building and fired 40 rounds from a 9 mm handgun on Saturday (Rhode Island). Two Brown University students, Ella Cook (Alabama) and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov (Uzbekistan) were killed, nine others were injured.
Valante was a resident of Miami Florida; however, in late November he travelled to Boston Massachusetts, rented a vehicle and then traveled to Rhode Island in early December. He was seen in/around the campus of Brown University for around a week before he carried out his mass shooting (Sat). Valante then traveled back to Boston and reportedly killed MIT Professor Louriero (Mon). The rental vehicle was found in a New Hampshire storage facility along with Valante’s body and the weapons used in the targeted killings. No motive yet identified.

He was at a storage locker, that doesn’t mean it was his. A New Hampshire storage locker in mid-December is going to be a quiet place. If it was climate controlled he would have found a place to hide without much risk of running into others.
My current hypothesis is he planned on staying with the MIT professor for a few days until the heat died down, but the professor refused or became suspicious and the killer shot him as well. At that point his plan, whatever it was, fell apart and he fled to New Hampshire looking for a place to stay. Motels/hotels would have been risky, and it’s too cold to be outdoors. He needed a place that was warm but with low foot traffic. So he looked for a storage unit.

These are less answers than working through plausible scenarios of what might have happened.
Shooting in Providence was at 4:00 PM Saturday. Shooting in Boston was at 10:30 Monday.
That gives just over two days for the killer to make contact, and for the professor to get suspicious. Maybe the professor picked up on the killer acting strangely or appearing nervous/paranoid, confronted him and attempted to discuss a surrender to authorities, and the killer turned on him.
At that point his plans would have fallen apart. In this scenario he planned on the Brown murders, but not the murder of an old friend. If that was the case, perhaps he would have felt guilt/remorse for the second murder and not wanted to return home any longer. At that point he would have basically been running out the clock on himself.
If he still wanted to return to Florida he had limited options. He would have had to pass through Logan Airport, risky, or drive the rental car back to Florida. Doing so might have resulted in him keeping the car longer than his rental period and flagged him as suspicious or for car theft. In any case the most direct route back to Florida would have been through Providence on I-95. Perhaps he didn’t want to head back in that direction driving the same rental car he had used to commit the shooting. His options then would have been to stay in Boston, head west through Massachusetts into New York, or head north to New Hampshire.
Driving I-95 or really any of the interstate highways would be far too conspicuous these days with all the plate readers everywhere. If someone wanted to find him it would not take that long with all the digital surveillance tech our there.
There are still more important details to be found, I am sure of it.

if the Brown University cameras had been operating, then the shooter who killed and wounded students at Brown on Saturday, would most likely have been identified and arrested, thereby saving the life of the MIT Professor he shot to death on Monday?
If this is correct, there should be serious charges and lawsuits filed!

from what I heard, the key to breaking the case was when the other guy they saw on video in that neighborhood came forward, he had some information that maybe led them to the rental car agency and that’s where they were able to get his identity (from the credit card he used?) and photos from him on the lot picking up his car
if they had cameras in the classroom, all they’d have had is a photo of a guy … just a guy
that might not be enough to identify him
maybe they could have gotten face metrics from the photo and if everyone’s metrics are in a big database as Sundance has been warning us, maybe they’d get a match ? maybe

as far as campus cameras, Providence has a new mega-real-time-crime center to collect and synthesize surveillance data

Found dead, self-inflicted? What lead them to find his body? Did they search his residence? Sounds like they realized they wouldn’t be able to continue protecting the killer so they had to kill him to cover their involvement.

Rents a vehicle in late November in New England. How did he get from Miami to New England?
Seen around the campus for about a week.
Rental vehicle and deceased suspect found in storage unit in NH.
Have rented storage units several times. You can reserve one on the internet but have to show up at the rental office in person to sign a lease and present a valid ID and arrange for payment
So when did the suspect do that? Did he rent the unit or did someone else?
Storage units that can accommodate vehicles would be on the ground floor and would have to be fairly large. Unlike the university, there would be cameras all over the place. So are there any cameras that recorded the suspect and his vehicle entering the storage unit? Did the camera record the suspect exiting the vehicle in order to close the storage unit door? Did the camera record anyone else entering that storage unit?
Was the storage unit soundproof? Did anyone hear the shot that was allegedly fired by the suicidal suspect?
Has the person who rented out the unit shown up for work each day, or did he/she suddenly quit due to a family emergency?
Here’s betting any relevant cameras weren’t functioning or have been disabled.
And the only reason I’m so jaded is because of the ludicrous press conference performance by the RI officials. Now I await being told to “shut up.”
Last night the stars of the show, the ones at the podium, were saying that the storage unit and the automobile were rented in the suspect’s own name. What criminal does that?
(Paperwork to that effect can easily be manufactured after the fact, however, a warrant for a forensic computer audit of either rental establishment is likely not forthcoming.
It is also unlikely that camera footage for those rental establishments would be made public.)
They further stated that the suspect used multiple automobile tags while traveling in order to avoid detection by license plate readers.
(Tags could have been stolen from anywhere. Likewise, rental automobiles aren’t necessarily tagged to the respective state from wherein they’re rented.)
(Plus, forget about the software that reads automobiles by detecting scratches, dents, chipped or sunburnt paint, etc.)

(He had a student visa back in 2001 when he was a student there 24 years ago, and had recent applied for a green card/permanent visa while he was on a student visa so he wasn’t illegal????
Student visas aren’t issued for 24 years.)

When it doesn’t make sense it’s because it’s set up. I’m no conspiracy loon but there are a million questions here.
The problem is though the Brown murder was apparently directed at a political target…why would some uber funder/controller go after a minor player in the grand scheme of things?
Certain things do appear evident at this stage:
Was he employed from 2003 till now? It doesn’t really help us to tell us he used to be a student 22 years ago.
What was he doing all these years.m?Witnesses said he spoke Arabic?
Someone knows who this person is. In Miami or wherever else.
Unless he was a hired gun.
