I remember most of those, and the only product that I MIGHT have bought due to the commercial is the Bartles & James after turning 21 of course. (didn’t buy very long tho)
As for all the other products other than soda (usually bought Coke but was price dependent) I never bought any of the other things. (not a gum chewer)
Now having said that I do by the Grey Poupon (country dijon) to make a honey mustard salad dressing or dipping sauce as a “make alike” recipe for Steak & Ale’s, not sure they are in business anymore tho. They went OOB long ago in the Indianapolis area after it changed hands & screwed up their original food and atmosphere (kinda like Cracker Barrel), so… quit going.
Anyone interested in the recipe? ask… it is my own personal reconstruction of it that nails it.

Biography: James Naismith was a Canadian-American physical educator, physician, chaplain, sports coach, and innovator. He is best known for inventing the game of basketball in 1891 and is also credited with writing the original basketball rulebook.
Born in Canada, Naismith studied physical education at McGill University in Montreal before moving to the United States. In 1891, while he was a physical education teacher at the International YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts, Naismith was tasked with creating a new indoor game to keep athletes active during the winter months. The game he developed was basketball, a sport that combined elements of various games and emphasized skill and agility over brute strength.
Naismith’s original game had 13 basic rules and involved throwing a soccer ball into peach baskets, which were used as goals. The baskets were nailed to the lower railing of the gymnasium balcony, ten feet above the floor. This height was arbitrarily chosen and became the standard for basketball hoops. The game quickly gained popularity, and by 1936, basketball was introduced as an Olympic sport.
In addition to creating basketball, Naismith pursued a medical degree, believing that the best way to care for athletes was to understand medicine. He received his medical degree in 1898 from Gross Medical College in Denver, Colorado.
After inventing basketball, Naismith held several teaching and administrative positions. He moved to the University of Kansas in 1898, where he served as a professor and the first basketball coach. Naismith is the only coach in the university’s history with a losing record.

Biography: Best known for his work on Chicago Pile-1 (the first nuclear reactor), and for his contributions to the development of quantum theory, and nuclear and particle physics.
Fermi is one of the men referred to as the “father of the atomic bomb”. His career began in his native Italy and at 37 was awarded the 1938 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on reduced radioactivity.
In 1939 he moved to the US, conducting the first nuclear fission experiment (splitting of a uranium atom) in the US before moving to Chicago and designing the world’s first nuclear reactor, the Chicago Pile-1.
Fermi also worked with Robert Oppenheimer on Project Y in Los Alamos, New Mexico as part of the Manhattan Project that created the nuclear atomic bombs dropped in Japan.
After WWII Fermi continued to work on the Manhattan Project, though opposed the development of the hydrogen bomb on moral grounds. He also contributed significant work on cosmic radiology.

I remember responding to a similar dilemma with the same “message”.
While it is good, even expected of us to “cry out” for our saviour, there is a “wisdom” I believe, that is given to us very early. In Exodus when Israel is standing at the edge of the red sea “very much afraid” because Pharaohs was drawing near (not long now and its over) – they did what any of us would do, they “cried out” (we call it begging) – to God, to save them. How does God respond to Moses? “tell them to go forward”.
Put yourself there – in front of you is an impossibility (great, I’m just supposed to drown?? –
If I stay me and everybody I care about is going to be butchered (and those are the lucky one’s).
Most probably they were seized by mass paralysis and fear. Bambi at the edge of the cliff.

Dude, if God says to go forward (do something/what I tell you) I’m going. He is up to his knees, then waist and nada, now he’s up to his chest, still nada – but, he keeps going – it is only when the water actually touches his nostrils does the sea part. (Which must have been a relief and mind-blowing to brave Nachshon)
The “teaching” I believe is that sometimes WE have to “show” our faith and trust in God to/and “make things happen” – or at least provide/show God all the faith and trust we SAY we have, so HE will do the miraculous (for us)

COMMENTARY FOR PSALMS 91
The safety of those who have God for their refuge. (1-8) Their favour with Him. (9-16)
1-8 He that by faith chooses God for his protector, shall find all in him that he needs or can desire. And those who have found the comfort of making the Lord their refuge, cannot but desire that others may do so. The spiritual life is protected by Divine grace from the temptations of Satan, which are as the snares of the fowler, and from the contagion of sin, which is a noisome pestilence. Great security is promised to believers in the midst of danger. Wisdom shall keep them from being afraid without cause, and faith shall keep them from being unduly afraid. Whatever is done, our heavenly Father’s will is done; and we have no reason to fear. God’s people shall see, not only God’s promises fulfilled, but his threatenings. Then let sinners come unto the Lord upon his mercy-seat, through the Redeemer’s name; and encourage others to trust in him also.
9-16 Whatever happens, nothing shall hurt the believer; though trouble and affliction befal, it shall come, not for his hurt, but for good, though for the present it be not joyous but grievous. Those who rightly know God, will set their love upon him. They by prayer constantly call upon him. His promise is, that he will in due time deliver the believer out of trouble, and in the mean time be with him in trouble. Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Last first: yes, I took my concoction to our luncheon. I made a sign that it was cranberry orange. Someone put a ladle like spoon in it. As far as I could tell … no one took any.
But then .. I went early to see if i could help. Too many busy bees already flitting about – so I sat and waited. Was told ‘they’ would serve us. I requested turkey and some fresh veggies.
I joked with the folks at our table that I intended to eschew all dairy. Conned ’em into enjoying a bit of dressing, gravy, biscuits and dessert (with whipped topping) on my behalf Makes for fun jokes.

snow on the way
2 to 6″ in the forecast for us here in central Indiana. Personally I wouldn’t mind a foot of the white stuff. But then again, I’m not driving a big truck in it anymore. And so I’ve been kinda jerking the chain of my trucking buddies that are still working.

According to the alarmists and their so called “science” the magic molecule of CO2 can do anything. It controls the climate. It can make it hotter, colder, dryer, wetter, stormier, calmer, clearer, cloudier. Never mind that a hypothesis that cannot be falsified is not science. And never mind that a few such “experts” declared an end to snow and even that the all powerful CO2 causes earth quakes.

They’ve upped the forecast for accumulation in my area to 4-8″. Early tomorrow morning I’m going to light the first fire in the fireplace insert this season. Then I’m going to sit down in the sun room and enjoy the great beauty that God is bestowing upon us.
Later in the day I’ll take off in the FJ because traffic will be down and have a little fun in the snow and then pick up a few things we want from the grocery store.
