My feelings exactly. I’m a serious female who preferred my male co-workers. I’m old enough to remember when females started getting promoted into management. The earlier ones took it seriously and did a good job. As time went on, the women became absolutely unbearable. I retired early and one of the factors was a female manager who was so bad and vindictive she may have been Jack the Ripper’s mother in a prior life. Women need to stick to being women. There is no dishonor in that.
These type of women are 10x worse than Karens because they are two faced (in front of you, and behind your back).

As collector of Antiques for a lifetime Betsy, one thing that has been on my mind for decades now is that we’ve produced damn little in these past decades that will be the valuable Antiques in the future.
I advise people to hang on to their good antiques because they will only grow more rare and valuable not that far down the road because there is little else of value around, it’s all such junk it’s been thrown away.
This is something my mother instilled in me when I was young, sis, though I wasn’t to know it until decades later. She herself was a rabid collected who couldn’t pass an antique shop without coming to a screeching halt. I was in the back seat sighing big time. How boring, I thought.
Then I grew up and found that somehow her love for the old had been inculcated in me. She passed on some pieces to me which I know have increased substantially on value, as you rightly say. I will hold on to them but should an inpropitious time arrive…
And then when I moved to Britain, I found myself frequenting antique fairs every weekend and little out of the way shops. You can only imagine the treasures we discovered and of course brought back…each carrying sentimental values of those wonderful days and the memories of where we found them.
You are so right. I developed a deep appreciation for the quality workmanship which is a thing long past and in no way have I seen in modern pieces. Planned obsolescence seems to be the number one quality today. We bought because each piece or collectable set our hearts racing for this reason or that, but always because of the beauty of each.

I must say that, even when I was in college “lots of years” ago, there was a remedial program – and I volunteered with that program for many years. As a tutor, and simply as a helper/gofer.
I didn’t get any pay, nor ever ask for any. Many students arrived from high school (even at that ’80s time) without the academic skills they needed to “make it,” and the college immediately took them aside to help them catch up. Perhaps because I was the son of an elementary-school teacher, I was very proud to be a part of that. (Still am.)
Don’t(!) belittle that poor soul who “doesn’t know how to solve that problem” – and who is extremely aware that right now he does not. 😣 Haven’t you been trapped in a situation that you didn’t know how to get out of? While trying to help him or her, your arch-enemy is: humiliation.
Many years later, those skills helped me at my very first “real job,” which was at that same University. I was still out there helping students, even though I wasn’t one anymore. They were there, trying to complete their assignments on our time-sharing computers. It didn’t matter that such things came “naturally” to me.
And, it also helped me in my subsequent career as a data-processing consultant. In every case (and yet today), I was helping someone who needed help, while directly facing them.
That there is simply pitiful.

Today Rapid City put up the statue of President Trump, as they have done with all other American Presidents.
I so very glad & actually proud to see it standing among all the other American Presidential statues in Rapid City.
However I am so very shocked by the various rude & crude threats made by South Dakota Citizens & Citizens of Black Hills. .
Dems get loud and obnoxious, even when they’re in the minority.
IOW, simply getting out of a Blue State/city is no guarantee that you won’t have to put up with their BS.

Last week it was in the high 60s & low 70s in the Black Hills
This week some places have snow & temps here in Rapid City will reach a high o 36 if that much.
However, in Eastern SD they had some VERY nasty roads with white out conditions.
Love snow, especially since I’m retired and very seldom have to go out into it, however stairs I’m less fond of.
Nothing more peaceful than being in your cozy home, looking out the window and watching falling snow.

It started snowing here in northern Minnesota last night, and we woke to about 8 inches on the ground this morning.
Seemed like a blizzard with all the wind, and one of our tall Poplars fell.
We’re still supposed to get more snow tonight and through the weekend, and we have been tucked-in and are staying there until the roads are clear and the sun comes out.

I’ve always wanted to go to Dc but in the last decade or so NO WAY.
People say its safe except certain areas. My response, so what happens if I’m trying to get ?? & take a wrong turn int one of those areas even in daytime.
Sad that so many places around the world are like this. Remember back when it was safe to hitch hike across the county even for women traveling solo.

you could say the same thing about nearly every big, blue city, including those in very red states. DC has its “hoods”, but they are easy to avoid. DC is much safer than Chicago or LA.
