Oh please do, Corny…get to work in your “lab”, girl!!! Tired, sleepy, off to bed I go…only to forget to turn my brain off, which continues to work on a different current it seems. We’re granddog sitting again for a few days. And so I am loath to get up and disturb. But in the end I decided to to get the cats in for this week. Maggie didn’t budge.
My go to has been melatonin but even that has lost its potentency it seems.

Yes, I take quite a bit of Melatonin – in stages. About 2 hours before bedtime, and then again at bedtime.
GABA is especially good at turning burgeoning thoughts off. A product called GABA Plus (hope its ok to mention) has helped quite a bit. L-theanine also.
I’ll keep tweaking and hopefully be able to give more explicit information. If I sleep more than 2 hours at a time, I think I’ve died and gone to heaven! It is such a treat.

Betsy, I noticed that if I eat a little greek yogurt, dates, figs or whole grain crackers with any nut butter, I tend to fall asleep pretty quick. A little cottage cheese works as well or bananas.
You do not have to eat a lot. A small portion is all you need.
I tried melatonin but it gave me a severe headache.

But we all know someone like that, don’t we? It used to be you’d lose friends because of betrayal (back in the dating days) or just time, age, and distance, as well as through making new friends. Now, “ride or die” friends are choosing “die” over politics.
I’m not immune. One of my oldest friends will have nothing to do with me because of politics. Random, angry, accusatory texts about irrelevant things in the news are pretty much what our relationship has become.
I don’t know for a fact that he wouldn’t be there if I needed to talk (which I have, about the cat, a sick kid, or just life in general), but I have stopped myself from trying because, deep down, I already know the answer. Better to just pretend you don’t need them than to confirm the idea that they wouldn’t be there for you.
I have been lucky in a way… I have a friend (since high school and that is a LOOOOONG time ago) who is quite liberal politicly. We still talk about once a week, sometimes more. There have been some seriously rough discussions about the time of the Covid lockdowns and mandates. But our friendship has overshadowed the political differences. I have a few other friends with whom I simply avoid politics altogether as I know where it would eventually lead

Fill the peanut feeder in the evening. The next morning the even the small Downy woodpeckers are getting peanuts before the Jays show up in force.
It’s funny to watch those little woodpeckers walking up the tree with a peanut in their beak as they take it to a suitable place to peck through the shell.

“Christ washes the disciples’ feet. (1-17) The treachery of Judas foretold. (18-30) Christ commands the disciples to love one another.” (31-38)
(31-35) “Christ had been glorified in many miracles he wrought, yet he speaks of his being glorified now in his sufferings, as if that were more than all his other glories in his humbled state. Satisfaction was thereby made for the wrong done to God by the sin of man. PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

History Lesson on Your Social Security Card
Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (and some older ones) didn’t know this.
It’s easy to check out, if you don’t believe it. Be sure and show it to your family
and friends. They need a little history lesson on what’s what and it doesn’t matter
whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts.
Social Security
Cards up until the 1980s expressly stated the number and
Card were not to be used for identification purposes. Since nearly everyone in the
United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the
message, NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION was removed.

Our Social Security
Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social
Security (FICA) Program. He promised:
1) That participation in the Program would be
completely voluntary,
No longer Voluntary
2) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual
incomes into the Program,
Now 7.65%
On the first $90,000.
3) That the money the participants elected to put
into the Program would be deductible from
their income for tax purposes each year,
No longer tax deductible
4) That the money the participants put in went to the
Independent ‘Trust Fund’ rather than into the
General Operating Fund, and therefore, would
only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other
Government program, and,
Under Johnson the money was moved to
The General Fund and spent.
5) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed
as income.

up to 85% of your Social Security can be taxed.
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are
now receiving a Social Security check every month —
and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of
the money we paid to the Federal government to ‘put

Why am I not surprised at the party that has, I am sure, grifted themselves and also messed up the SS that all us hard working citizens contributed to our whole working lives?
Disgusted is not a strong enough word, but I would probably get banned if I wrote how I really feel.
I overheard a customer one day comment that he could make it on social security. He is either good at finding freebies and discounts or doesn’t have doctor, dentist and optometrist, etc, bills. SS pays half my bills and I work full time to pay the rest. Until I die or my crypto ship comes in…

Sir Ken Adam, one of a very few known German fighter pilots in Britain’s RAF during WW2, once shared his wartime experiences with this reflection:
“Germans often ask me did I feel any qualms when I attacked German soldiers during the war. I say, ‘No, I didn’t’. Apart from anything else, when you’re flying in a single-seater fighter aircraft, you are not in contact with the death you create on the ground. You’re very much in contact with the death of your friends who are shot down or crash in flames, but not with the people on the ground. By that, I mean the military. Obviously, we didn’t attack any civilians. But having said that, even if I had been eye to eye with it, I decided that we had to win the war and we had to get rid of Hitler and the Nazis.”
Sir Ken Adam was one of approximately 10,000 German and Austrian Jewish refugees who fought for Britain during the Second World War.

The more time I spend in the Old Testament, the more I understand the literalness of what was required to be fulfilled, and what remains unfulfilled. He was a literal King of Israel, as proclaimed by Pilate and clarified in the gospels (‘house’ means in line for the throne such as Andrew is being removed from in the House of Windsor, ‘lineage’ means blood line only), and has yet to sit on the throne of David. Had He been descended from a Roman soldier, Pilate would never have allowed His crucifixion (e.g., contrast to Paul’s legal appeal to Caesar).
It was my sin that put Him on that cross, and His love for me that kept Him there.

At the start of the Roman occupation of Judea, the Davidic Kingdom had been dead for over 300 years, killed or exiled by Nebucanezer.
It was replaced by the Levite High Priest as ambassador of Judea to whichever Empire than controlled Judea.

So no to being either in line for the throne or a Priest.
It was under administration of other authorities and exiled, but it was not “dead”. Jeconiah was no longer eligible to have a blood descendant on the throne of David (Jeremiah 22), but his descendant Joseph’s wife, Mary (who was a virgin; parthenos LXX Isaiah 7:14) at the time Jesus Messiah was born), was of David’s linage through Nathan. She had no male sibling, and married within the tribe of Judah, so her husband became eligible to inherit through her father Heli, and her child was likewise adopted by Joseph.
Zechariah 3, written during under the Persian servitude, describes the High Priest anointed at that time, and the crown that was prepared for the King-Priest to come.
Jesus was a Jew. But then, the Jews were the people of God. Happily for us, God still loves and hasn’t given up on the Jew 🙂

“IPS and Fort Wayne have long been among the state’s lowest-performing districts, and consistently fail to close large achievement gaps that especially disadvantage non-white and non-Asian children. They are also among the highest-spending in Indiana, with Indianapolis spending nearly $27,000 and Fort Wayne spending $16,000 per child per year.
Fort Wayne Community Schools says its students and teachers deal with 70 different languages, and 16 percent of its students do not speak English well. It employs seven full-time interpreters at public expense and 174 other personnel directly devoted to students who can’t speak English well. At the average teaching wage plus benefits in Indiana, that’s a lowball estimate of $15 million in taxpayer spending per year on ESL personnel alone.
Non-English-speakers comprise one-third of IPS students, and in 2024 Chalkbeat Indiana reported the district cannot find one-third of the bilingual assistants it needs. IPS students speak Arabic, Burmese, Creole, French, Kinyarwanda, Spanish, Swahili, and Yoruba — among dozens of others. IPS made teaching non-English-speaking children one of its top budget priorities for 2024-25, increasing its spending on the positions and offering bonuses to attract staff who can speak niche languages like Creole.
In response to this situation, the IPS school board in 2023 adopted a “language justice” policy that “actively challenges the idea that there is a dominant language because multiple languages can coexist within our society.”
More than half of IPS students are chronically absent from school, and so are half of its English Language Learners. Only 20 percent of IPS students, and less than 10 percent of its English Language Learners, in grades 3-8 re on grade level in reading and math. Just 3 percent of IPS students who can’t speak English well are on grade level in both reading and math in grades 3-8 — and statistically that doesn’t improve in high school.
Forty percent of Fort Wayne students are chronically absent, meaning they miss 10 or more days of school in a year without an excuse. Less than 30 percent of their third- through eighth-graders can read and do math at grade level, and so are just 11 percent of their students who struggle with English.
Several Indiana teachers have told The Federalist they switched school districts or jobs after being put in no-win situations like these, where it’s impossible for any children to learn simply because of the sheer volume of language and culture confusion. Indiana’s Constitution requires a “general and uniform system of common schools,” which courts have often interpreted as requiring dramatic state intervention in schools this unable to teach students to read.
This has all been done purposely. Inundating our schools with non-English speaking children. One of many strategies noted in Cloward-Piven (spelling?).
Generally speaking, the Public School system has deteriorated at an alarming rate, especially in “demon”crat run states.
I went to school from 1955-1968 in a rural school in Pennsylvania. We had the reading, writing, arithmatic curriculum, home economics, shop, and in high school we had a choice between business, vo-tech or college courses as well as the regular curriculum.
We all could read well and do math. We could put together decent sentences and had a pretty good vocabulary when we left high school.
I chose Business classes and got a job right out of school in an office.
Today the students use their technology electronic devices to do their work for them. You can tell their essays and papers are AI generated.
I grade first year college English papers for a Professor at a
University and these students do not have a clue about grammar, vocabulary and any sort of writing skills and their penmanship is atrocious. She is one of very few teachers I admire because she gives the students as much one on one time as she can, especially the students that have come in on sports scholarships.
I did notice the students that were home schooled were far ahead of the public school taught students.
It is a very sad situation and I do not know how it will ever get fixed.

Monti, I certainly agree on your comment. I am convinced it is all by design that the education is poor for any one wanting to be a teacher, and is then forwarded to the students. It is a vicious cycle. Our whole education system requires a complete makeover if we want to keep our Republic as it was created by the founders.
