biden’s DOJ harasses, bankrupts, prosecutes, frames and imprison the innocent.
Bondi’s uniparty DOJ talks a lot and occasionally does something with a small fish but only does that reluctantly because of pressure from the base. And there is a good chance the small fish will be set free and start winning awards from uniparty institutions and then get elected or awarded higher offices and status.
The Fed courts are a big problem. It will be very difficult to win if prosecuted in DC or Eastern District of VA. If there are Arctic Frost related indictments they need to be in the Southern District of Florida.

One more note on cost of housing, which is really a continuation of the above discussion.
The price of housing and land has skyrocketed partially due to the rise of the real estate investment industry. Whether it should exist at all is an interesting question. i don’t think it’s to the net good for real estate to be treated like a mutual fund.
But to address low hanging fruit, no one who is not a citizen should be allowed to own land or property, except that I would allow legal permanent residents to own the house in which they reside, only. Upon becoming a citizen, real estate as an investment opens to them.

I would add a big factor is dollar devaluation (inflation). In some markets, dollar devaluation is accounts for as high as 90% of the increased valuation. Real estate reacts to a weak dollar much the same way as does gold.
Vanguard, State Street, and Blackrock are said to be buying up all the houses in the country. So our retirement funds, unable to find other profitable investments, are chasing capital gains in our homes. They do this by overpaying for houses. Now people see property taxes doubled, as their valuations rise, and can no longer afford to live in their own neighborhoods.
It seems quaint that just a couple decades ago, George W. Bush called for an “Ownership Society.” Now ownership is out of reach for the next generation. We have to turn this around. Having a family, owning a home, and having a good-paying job with job security is what America is all about.
Even if valuations were to go down, do you really think your property taxes will? Property taxes are a result of budgeting by politicians who decide to increase and spend your taxes regardless of what real estate values do.

See Alabama…..property taxes can go down and do in this state. Plus they have a cap for retired and disabled. But hey this is the red headed step child of the country. A few have found our small coastline since 1979 and it didn’t cause improvement.
Calif has the best method, but a cap sounds good too.
Prop 13 makes your property tax fixed at 1% of the purchase price, so no assessment required. It goes up 2% per year (less than inflation).
It’s the one thing Ca does right, so I’m sure they will find a way to screw that up too.

Only good law in Calif, taxes capped at 1 percent, then restricted to a 1 percent increase. They have tried to get rid of for decades. That one percent is a lot here thought. The amount of revenue the state collects is insane.
Surprisingly, my property taxes went down a reasonable amount per year about two years ago. They have not gone up since, but I have a freeze because I am over 65. This is in Texas, so I do not know what happens in other states except where my sister lives. Her property taxes go up every year, but she lives in Pennsylvania, notorious for raising taxes annually.
Also, forgot to mention that it gets a homestead reduction in property taxes as well.
Ohio’s reduction is means tested, except for a brief time around 2007-2014, when there was no income test. Then it went back to income level testing. We just missed being eligible during that time. As far as I know, the lucky ones in that group still get the homestead reduction no matter their income.

When valuations start going down, property taxes take longer to start going down and then follow very slowly. When valuations start going up, property taxes start going up immediately and continue just as fast.
When the assessor and other local politicians are asked about property taxes going up, they always point to valuations being out of their control. But they will fight tooth and nail against any kind of reform that decouples the two.

In Fairfax County, Virginia, home to some of the highest residential real estate in the nation, you can get 100% property tax relief if your income is below $75k and total net worth (not to include your home) is under $400k. There is a graduated scale for 25/50/75/100% relief based on income, but the $400k cap on total worth is the same.
How is this legal?
Some countries allow foreigners to get a 99 year lease. It essentially allows you to stay on the property as long as you live and also for your kids to enjoy a bit beyond that if they want, but you don’t “own” it.
While us citizens pay rent to the state in property taxes.

I read the article, which did not provide a Constitutional or statutory reason not to reduce government staff because unfunded programs are no longer required by law.
The proposed reductions are not to “essential activities”. The rifs are not to fire the entire government if ” Congress lets funding lapse for one day” as argued by the Union lawyer. There are of course other Constitutional limits on firing he entire government workforce, such as the responsibilities of the President to take care to carry out the laws, operate as the Commander in Chief, and many other essential activities. The judge seems to use the Anti-Deficiency Act, which instead PROHIBITS the government from incurring expenses not authorized by Congress, except for exceptions for ” essential activities” which is not the case here. Weird.
The judge seems to rely on the bad feelings of 2 government employees about losing jobs, but that is an holding that prevents any employee from ever losing a government or nongovernment job. Which unortunately happens to many taxpaying citizens from time to time.

when Trump gets back from this current trip overseas, I hope he starts to focus more on domestic issues. He has been very quiet about his USA agenda outside of trade issues. If he and his wonderful GOP don’t do something about the completely crooked election system in this country, his 2026 midterms will be a disaster and everything he has been working so hard for will get pissed away in Jan 2029.

Note how Rubio hasn’t followed through on getting Antifa designated as a foreign terrorist organization. The Secretary of State is required to go through a process, make the designation, and publish it in the Federal Register. No steps have been taken to do any of that as far as I can tell.
