Incidentally, my Bible (NASB95) says “up to seventy times seven” (70 x 7 = 490), not seventy seven (77) times. The KJV Bible also says the same. But other translations (NIV etc) say seventy seven (times).
Big difference numerically; so I wondered why the disparity between translations.
Here is a great explanation – the bottom line being it really does not matter because Jesus was teaching a lesson by using the inverse of an issue described in Genesis 4. The specific number is irrelevant to the meaning of the lesson.

About the only good thing I can say is that it appears landfall will be far enough west that Kingston will probably not see maximum storm surge.
Melissa’s movement over the water has been just fast enough to keep feeding it the thermal energy from warm surface water. If it stalled or looped around passing over it’s own track it would be passing over much cooler water that it had churned up from the depths and would weaken.
I have been looking for a chart online that shows in detail the seafloor Bathymetry along the south coast of Jamaica without success. Such details have an effect on both the strength of a storm at landfall and the severity of the storm surge in a particular area.
For example extended shallows weaken a slow moving storm because the thermal energy in the surface waters is used up quickly. That has happened many times when storms approached the west coast of Florida and is why the Big Bend area is so unlikely to have a strong storm come ashore there.
Be aware they are comparing this hurricane to the 1935 hurricane Labor Hurricane that hit Key west based on the low pressure of 896 mb. But the pressure for Melissa was taken while the storm was over water while that for the 1935 (892 mb) was taken when the eye was over land. Not quite a fair comparison.
Leaving out such details results in hype and my only criticism of what Ryan Hall and his team are doing is that he and his team appear to lack the historical knowledge of details such as that when making the comparisons they are sometimes. That being said, I realize that this their first time doing this for a hurricane.

Severe storms just dumped 10 to 19 inches of rain across Central and South Florida. Roads gone. Families trapped. Airport shut down. Even luxury hotels in Boca Raton flooded like hurricane zones.
Another round of “record-breaking” rainfall the experts can’t explain.
Meteorologists say it’s “comparable to a hurricane,” but there was no hurricane.
If it wasn’t a hurricane, what the hell caused it?
And also another no name storm is pummeling the outer banks. Last I saw five beach homes had been washed into the ocean today.
I think they’re messing with cloud seeding or HAARP to try to steer Melissa and causing the other storms as “side effects”. It’s a theory.

It was about principles for grassroots activists. I meant to read it later, but lost it. I vaguely remember that their surnames might have been Jewish.

As a boy, I recognized that the beautiful natural world and abundant life are created and felt awe, joy and appreciation. As a teenager, I spoke, from my heart, to God to express my gratitude for his creation, my life, and sending his son Jesus for our redemption; to ask forgiveness of my sins through Jesus and repent; to make my heart pure for Jesus to live and shine his light, truth and courage through me; and guide my life. The next day, I arrived home to find that my father had left. I felt stunned but also calm. One year later, I was injured playing a sport, ending all school athletics for me. I began to live only within the confines of the tangible world and popular culture while neglecting my spiritual dimension, drifting away from who I am as a person with little inner happiness. My life was off course and going nowhere. Then, I received a tremendous gift of love from my future wife coming into my life. Soon after, a phone call with my mom regarding the continuing bad effects of their divorce caused me to clearly see and feel the true sadness of my family break-up, and I sobbed uncontrollably, finally releasing my pent-up feelings. I earnestly prayed to renew my relationship with Jesus/God and specifically and clearly asked for guidance for my life. A few weeks later, my future wife asked me what I really wanted to become. The answer came up out of me as if it had been there all along waiting to be acknowledged as though I had been hardwired to follow a course but was only then realizing it. From that point forward, all I needed to do was my best through the challenges and sometimes struggles that awaited me, and I was provided with the strength and support to succeed in a career and provide for my future family. During our wedding ceremony at the church, I was unexpectedly overcome by what I believe was the Holy Spirit, the power and intensity of which felt stronger than love. Witnessing my children being born granted a rare glimpse into the miracle and truth of creation, with no faith needed, and that love is the most powerful force on earth as I would give up my life, in an instant, without any hesitation, to protect my child and spouse. When each of two elderly family members passed away, there was a surprising sense of peace, a holy peace, that permeated the entire room at the moment of death, and for several minutes after, that all those present felt and acknowledged in whispers. Right after my mom’s funeral driving home, I received a clear, telepathic communication in her voice that said, “It’s okay honey, I’m alright”, which is exactly the way she would say it. Looking back, it is clear to me that a path was provided for my life that fit me and was beyond chance or self-realization. The contrast between before versus after receiving the gift of my wife, renewing my relationship with Jesus/God and asking for guidance was too great to attribute to me alone or random events. Peace
Realize that our past is ruling our future, that the press for economic wealth is a past pleasure. It was a gift or product of our recovery yet we continue to chase it. It’s outdated and the future is and must be spiritual growth or we collapse from the weight of no foundation.
We always chase the past, use outdated ideas to quell future problems. It’s a product of our lazy government and lazy leaders. War is not an alternative in any manner. It is destroying our growth and society to gift a few who gather in their barns and seek only personal gain.
These people have embraced evil and embodied it.
That also explains why we continue to collapse as a society. Evil has no new thought or expression only God can create and us. Those who are over us live in the past resources because it’s easy and they can. We must look towards spiritual growth and achievement and not society for answers. It is a reckless regard for self but will achieve a better future.
Eventually it will happen but it will be organic not forced by religion. Religion has constrained us for too long. Relationship is the spirit lead individual.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
