EBT Story:
Very common in Hawaii.
EBT recipients go into grocery stores on first day of the month and buy Spam by the case. Some stores limit the number of cases any one person can buy.
They take the Spam to “Mom & Pop” vendors, some street vendors and some with rundown storefront operations in poor neighborhoods.
The vendors buy the Spam at a 50% discount because they use it in so many preparations.
The sellers the use the cash for drugs and alcohol.
Between the 3rd or 4th day of the month, and about mid-month, it is hard to find Spam on the shelf of stores in poor neighborhoods.

The “Food Stamp” program changed when they switched from physical stamps to EBT cards that are to look like credit/debit cards issued by banks.
There was a social stigma attached to having to pull out books of stamps and hand them over to the cashier. They did not resemble cash and the person using them knew everyone around could see. The stigma was motivation to find a job — or a second job — and get off welfare.
Right or wrong — there is no doubt that a segment of the working poor (along with lazy freeloaders) relied on food stamps to survive. That’s why they were part of the social safety net.
BUT, when the payment system took on a form that was indistinguishable from everyone else in line at the grocery store, that stigma was lost.
And the food stamp program has done nothing but grow every since.
That and all your top tear banks like JP Morgan are being paid a premium to process those, both incoming and outgoing.

A younger black guy opened up a business up the street. A restaurant, pretty
rock bottom- sort of burgers, hot dogs, and chips. Told me that he used to be

Switching to cards makes it difficult for anyone in the grocery checkout line to know who is paying with an EBT card, credit card, or debit card.
If we could see how many people use “food stamps” by seeing them use something that does not look like a credit/debit card then we would be outraged and shocked.
Using a card keeps us in the dark about how many people are using/abusing the EBT program.
I see the link cards being swiped everyday. The cashier can print another receipt after the ” customer ” has left
and see how much the balance left is still available. It can be hundreds of dollars and way more than that still available.
Little unbeknownst(?) to me for 7 decades, a rule in nature seems to be on the line of the “Golden Rule”, a ratio of 1 : 1.618. Kinda amazing how often that appears in life/arts/biology! What I knew it as was the rule of thirds.
Credit cards et al, fit that description.

Even worse, they walk around Walmart asking every shopper if they want to buy their card for .5 on the $1. They have no shame and have told me while standing in line they feed their dogs steak because of the excess on their account. I watch as they pull 2 or 3 cards out at a time when at the register. It’s beyond fraud and has gone on wayyyyy too long.
Look into what school boards are doing with free meals/ Title 1 money nationwide.

I have gotten 8 calls in the last week, two today already on different phone lines, asking if I want to sell my property at “xxx” (which I dont own or have anything to do with), in Richmond VA area, from Virginia caller ID numbers. And they are different house or apartment addresses. All calls have thick foreign accents.
Anyone else getting same thing?
I did, I received three phone calls in one day, all from different phone numbers. That was the last straw for me. I changed my phone number, no problems since.
I suspect they hacked peoples phones or google and collected everyone’s phone numbers that were stored in their directory, is where they got everyone else’s phone numbers that they’re now spamming with calls and texts.
Supposedly the Chinese were just caught sending several large parcels of sim cards into the US. Not soon after that is when I started receiving all the spam calls and text messages.

My advice is you have an android phone, out of the box. learn how to set it up without accepting googles terms and disable all apps and unnecessary features. It wont work with all the features, but at least your not prostituting yourself out to google.

Thing that caught my attention is the “buy your property.”
If your contact information was in someone else’s phone that had a google account, that’s where they got everyone else’s phone numbers from.
Meanwhile Congress turns a blind eye to all the internet corruption while companies make you do business over the net and you have to pay if they are hacked….make it make since…everything you own is vulnerable …your SS# your medical info, your phone info, credit info, home title, credit cards, banking info….yet no consumer protections from congress. Has anyone figured out exactly what they do for us?
As a general rule, I no longer answer my phone to any number I don’t recognize.
Area codes can be spoofed via temporary numbers. I don’t know when that became a thing. I think it started when you were allowed by law to retain your phone number on your cell if you switched provider companies. It used to be with landlines, your phone number and area code was linked directly to where you lived.
Scammers use local area codes because they know people are way more likely to answer.
You could be like me, and never answer your phone. Some people don’t have that luxury though, especially if they run a business or similar.

“VOIP = Voice Over IP” (the Internet) can cause a call to appear to come from any selected phone number anywhere.
The ones using a computer to spoof numbers can be found out by calling the number back. If it’s not in service it’s spoofed. These will even slip by a call filter unless you flag it using the filter. Then the number is useless to them and the service provider can block the
IP address.
I get constant text about a run down home in a state I have only driven through. No calls. I just block the text without even a read receipt. I really believe they are marrying data of “John Smith’s” together and just calling any and every JS. You want to place that bad, go knock on their F’ing door and ask. lol
They are not calling about property we actually own. They figured that would not be for sale with cold calling and cold texting. I believe it is flippers hitting everything they think they can turn or gobble up to condense.

I also know that the Henrico County Registrar now has a means that you can be alerted if your property is being transferred, not that she can stop it, she can’t (presently) but do know that something is afoot. You just have to register for it through the county. I contacted my state rep, David Owens, about this, and that if he is re-elected (fingers-crossed) that he said he would look into this matter of a registrar of deeds knowing fraud is being committed but cannot legally do anything about it.

No, I don’t think there should be an apology. But, a historical context might be appropriate. After the initial crusade in 1096, Christians were not really successful. And they did a heck of a lot of damage to the population in and around Jerusalem at that time. Followed by a huge loss in the second crusade in 1147 loss to Saladin. Then, King Richard tried again and achieved a stalemate in the third. Subsequent crusades never had a relinquished holy land from Muslim rule. The 8th and final lead to a complete removal of crusader states in 1291. Included in all of this, a horrific Children’s crusade.
So, I don’t care how you frame it. Teaching this for a lot of years in public schools. This, no matter how you would like to portray it from a Christian perspective, which you did, was a loss, no matter how noble in the face of Christianity it was.
And actually, Christians were the initial invader call by Pope Urban II whether attempting to retake Christian lands or not. And, I am not quite sure your premise of “fought and died to ensure that pilgrims might have access to holy sit of their faith” is not exactly the sole reasoning behind the crusades.

Cameco is a Canadian company, which is why I sold it months ago…
I would consider holding shares in Canadian mining companies or at the least their U.S. traded subsidiaries as most Canadian mining companies are on both one of the Canadian exchanges and one of the U.S. exchanges, as it is a law that only U.S. citizens and/or U.S. companies can own and operate mines in the U.S. even if the majority of shares owned are by foreign nationals, it’s still a U.S. entity so complies with U.S. laws and permitting regulations.
