Afternoon, dear lady. What initially invited me to these images is how comfortable, dare I say, “natural” they are. The artists seem to share this as a common intent. Last night I was ‘Tube surfing and came across an intriguing video from a Norwegian couple who live in a small village in the country’s far north. Temps there are already well below freezing way up there. And, of course, the interior of their not-large cabin was warm and cozy.
Still, that said, everytime I see one of these rendered images with such tasteful accompanying music I like to imagine that I’ll one day turn a corner. . . and find one of those coffee shops. Alas, though I love living in Texas and having access to our famous Hill Country with such great driving roads, I doubt I’ll find one of quaint little places here. 🙂

Israel Update:
This is not really an update. But something that is bothering me and I want to let out.
I feel offended by the whole discussion of the conspiracy of Israel relation to Charlie Kirk death. This is undoubtably emanating from Tucker, Candace and their circle.
It hurts me to see Sundance posting a Tucker video following with another video on this subject. I want to be clear. I am sure that Charlie was more popular in the Jewish population of Israel than the US. Also Trump has a higher support in the Jewish population in Israel than the US. Israel is second in the world in support to Trump after the Philippines.
Another point. The Mossad assassinated more people than any other Western nation in modern times. Thousands of people. The lists are widely known. Those are ALL people who were linked to a potential murder and killing of Israelis. From Iranian nuclear scientists, to a very long list of terrorist members, to the killers of the Israeli athletes in the Munich Olympics, to German Nazi scientists who were developing missiles for Egypt in the 60s. There is not even one political assassination or any assasination of anyone who didn’t pose an immediate threat to israeli human lives. The whole idea of “Mossad killing Americans for political power” is coming from Candace Owen and her circle (maybe Tucker too?) it is purely antisemite motivated. “The jews control America”. LOL. “If you’re not in line the Mossad will kill you.”
Now I am going to say the most not politically correct thing I have ever said. In israel this could get me banned and canceled and you may hate it too. But I will say it anyways.
I am not a religious figure. I was trying to say, why did God punish Israel so bad in 10/7?
How is that possible?
Before 10/7 the unrest in Israel was at a highest ever. The division and internal conflict was close to a Civil war. The last historical fall of Jerusalem which also was a massacre of magnitude, by the Romans, followed internal conflicts between Jews. There were those who wanted to resist the Romans and those who were fine on becoming like Romans. This was so intense that there were occasions of Jews killing Jews. The anti Romans considered the other side as traitors. This is very similar to pre 10/7 in Israel. It is widely accepted in Israel that the fall of Jerusalem and the following expulsion was a result of God punishing us for internal division and hate.
Additionally. I can’t hide from you that the Nova music festival had a very large symbolic Indian statue a reminder of the Biblical Golden Calf of the Mount Sini story where God punished the Jews for it seriously. The Nova festival was a Trans music festival with a lot of drugs and sex. Most of the communities who got butchered in the south in the Kibbutzes were very Leftish extremists (mainly in their views less in action) and pro Palestine and atheists. So I can’t avoid thinking of a Devine punishment. As to Charlie, he started to bring in antisemite anti Israel on the stage, Tucker and Magen Kelly with their blood libels against Israel.
When I saw it I thought that this is really not like Charlie and it saddened me. I hoped he will turn away from those figures and not dive into the dark too. I can’t avoid the thought, God expects of the righteous more than from the common man. Charlie was a righteous man I think. Anyways, I am just thinking loud. This is not a statement of facts. But was there a Divine aspect to what happened here?
That is all my awful talk that can get me canceled on any platform and may make you hate me too.
PS. I am rethinking about migrating to another platform. The Last Refuge is knowingly turning into something that I did not expect. The Open Thread seems better but it started to be a moral question if I should give some added value to a platform that hosts anti-Israel antisemite discussions. Let me know what you think. David, I am certainly no expert but in my readings of the Bible and the New Testament it is explained that towards the end of the end times life will become difficult for God fearing people. Many will be deceived by the lies that are told and those who are not deceived will be targeted for extermination. It says that God cuts short the end times so that not all God fearing people are killed and Jesus returns to defeat Satan and his minions. Seems to me we may well be entering those end times now where the righteous are targeted for extermination.
Don’t hate them for being deceived. If anything, pray for them. We are foretold of these things to come so that when they do come we will see the times for what they are and hold even tighter to God. If at all possible never let fear or hatred rule you, both will work to separate you from God.

I won’t speak to Megyn, Tucker and Candace and their relationship with Charlie Kirk. But as to this site, David, I’m not sure what you were expecting.
If you’ve read the forums for any length of time, as I assume you have, you’ll note that the perspectives on current events are not uniform. Witness the recent election and the initial drawing of lines between Trump and DeSantis and their respective followers. But on a site like this, as opposed to some Leftist outlets, there is no enforced unanimity of opinion. People of different background and perspectives, united by their love of this country, and a concern for the direction it has taken of late, gravitate to this site and engage with one another.
Why shouldn’t Sundance post something from Tucker? I have to ask you – when did the value of a person’s thoughts to this site become measured by his opinions about Israel? I can understand your views on this, since it hits so close to home, but you have to understand how such a position, that those who are critical of Israel not be hosted, works against you by propagating the very sentiment that you decry here – that the Jews have too much influence. When did a person’s stance vis-a-vis Israel become the litmus test for whether their ideas would be engaged? That is why, if I must go back to it, Charlie did not disown and disengage with Candace and Tucker. Israel is one topic, they all agreed more than they disagreed, in general, about many things, if not uniformly about everything.
I enjoy and look forward to your posts here, as they are informative and a window to information that our corporate state media, which has no love for Israel, does not share. But if you come to a site like this, a site that influences conservative thought by influencing those who themselves drive it, and start arguing, even by suggestion, that those who are critical of Israel should be denied a voice, then you do yourself no favors. I might not agree with everything a person says, but at least I want to know why they believe certain things and weigh them for myself.
Leave the group-think for the Left, it’s what they do best. Advocating for a Right version of it, even by innocent suggestion, is unwise and misplaced.

Thank you. I think you misunderstood me so I will explain. There is a distinction between opposition to Israel for many reasons to antisemitism and blood libels. I have posted here before about this distinction. As an Israel I have a sensitivity to the subject and a powerful radar and I can tell the distinction. What I am talking about here is hate and antisemitism. Not about a legitimate discussion about the facts on the ground. It is factually a point of debate to say that “too many civilians were killed in Gaza”, that “this war should end” that “the US is spending too much on wars” that “Support to Israel should be reduced”.
Those are all valid points that I have no problem with. But Tucker and Candace have crossed this line long ago. Tucker is now the lead antisemite voice in the right and Candace is way worse but has less influence. I am talking about hate speach and anti Jewish conspiracies which remind of pre Holocaust blame the Jew atmosphere. I am talking about some really nasty and increasingly prominent antisemite thread going on here. I am not talking about America First , I am not talking about Isolationism supporters.
I am talking about blood libels against Jews of the worst kind. From Tucker invoking the “Jews killed Jesus” to suggest they killed Charlie. To “Jews kill Christians” to the worst massacre of Jews since WW2 10/7 and Tucker saying it is “not a terror organization”. And this platform is all gloating about conspiracies of “Epstein is a Mossad operation”. And the number of hateful comments related to it. Etc…
Maybe you have to be Jewish and lose a half of your family to understand and feel my pain Heavens Forbid.
I am not saying that I am going to leave this platform but if I see this trend continue it may be unethical for me to contribute value for it and I may create another platform.

The fact that you replied illustrates my point – that we have to continue to engage in conversation, even when we disagree. I’ve posted in the past that I think on some points Tucker, and especially Candace, have gone off the deep end. But that cannot take away from the fact that they were at the forefront of the fight against the establishment onslaught when it wasn’t “cool” to be. At some point, both Tucker and Candace were influenced to their current positions and I don’t see de-platforming them from conservative sites, which is the end result of discussions like the one we’re having, let’s be frank, to be the answer to bringing them along to a “better” viewpoint.
I won’t share my own personal background, I try to keep these discussions as dispassionate as possible, but trust me, we’ve all lost people. If I were to be consumed by that, I might be a different person today. But the cornerstone of my worldview is that God is ultimately in control and that “all things work together for good to those who love him, who are called according to His purpose.” And so, i don’t lose hope and I don’t respond to comments by Tucker or Candace or Kanye (aka Ye) the way I might have in the past . Because when we stop talking, we begin fighting. And I’ve yet to see an example of that ending well.

I didn’t pay any mind to the Tucker thread – read “Breathe” and came straight here. IDK if Sundance is promoting TC or just keeping us aware. I always know that in order to have any communication time people have to occasionally say or promote establishment stuff. I was offended when our President still boasted about the warp speed vaccine and can only guess why he still says it. There’s only so much free speech allowed in this country so I always recognize that people must give something to the “establishment” (or however you wish to call them) in order to have any voice at all. Some people say TC is all about splitting MAGA so we do need to be aware. As usual you’re overestimating me but I can enjoy the compliments.
I have not made up my mind. A lot depends of Sundance and where he is going with this platform.
If he chooses to take the line of Tucker and Candace that is antisemite I will ethically have to change platform.
But he is on the fence in my opinion. I tried to speak to him about it but I doubt if he heard and if I did a good enough job of presenting my grievances.
If you’re considering moving to Israel I would suggest to first try for a few months before deciding.
Israel has pros and cons and not everyone can deal with the cons. Basically life are usually harder in Israel from the standpoint of income, parking, housing, emotions, etc….

I did not listen to the 9/11 tape because the presenter (Carlson) has discredited himself in my eyes.
10/7 with over 1200 murdered and 3400 injured and over 250 kidnapped and the abuse etc.. would equal to 46.5X in US proportions. There are 46.5X more Americans than Jewish Israelis. The Arab Israelis are about 20% of the population. So multiply by 46.t and just imagine if the US had almost 56,600 American murdered is the most brutal ways and almost 12,000 people kidnapped and held in a neighbor country under schools and hospitals etc.. and 160,000 wounded. What would the US feel and do?
That is the core of the double standard when I see the criticisms.

A large part of Christendom believes Christianity has replaced Judaism as the Israel of God. I suspect Catholic thought might have this weakness, but I have not researched it. The border patrol in my area has a stop (you had better!) They almost exclusively use Belgian Malinois to sniff for drugs, explosives etc. You could hang a filet mignon out your window, and they wouldn’t glance at it!

Thanks for posting this, nim. My friend’s dobies were all great guard dogs. One day my late wife rescued a handsome Siberian Husky from a group of itinerant house painters who were moving on. “Chuckie” had led a pretty rough life so it took him a while to adjust to living with us.
One day I heard a ruckus in the backyard. A meter reader had jumped our back fence and been “apprehended” by Chuckie. In a classic guard dog pose Chucking was sitting and watching carefully. If the poor man moved, Chuckie growled. Despite his rough edges, Chuckie had obviously at one time in his life received guard-dog training. He was guarding our (now his) back yard.
As soon as I came outside he backed off and let the poor man do his job. Chuckie was an older dog when my wife rescued him, but his remaining few years with us were both safe and comfortable compared to his life on the streets or with indifferent people.

With their stunts yesterday to try and humiliate Trump and the first lady you will see more and more people crying for the US to get out of the UN and for the UN to get out of the US.
I am not one of those that believes we should get out of the UN.
I believe it is far better to have a place at your enemy’s table than to be shut out. And with the US being a permanent member of the UN Security Council and thus having veto power, we are better off in the UN than out. As things stand now the despots and dictators at the UN have very little power to do anything to hurt the US or attack our sovereignty as long as we have a government that will protect the interests of our country there.
I do however support the UN getting out of the United States.
Starting about 30 years ago the UN has been declaring that “Global Warming/Climate Change” is causing people to migrate away from the equator and towards the poles.
Now days they say millions are doing so and that is why Arabs and Africans are invading Europe and were invading the US until Trump stopped it. They have repeatedly claimed that over he next 100 years people will have to move ever further from the equator to survive due to “global warming/climate change”.
I say that the UN should thus move it’s HQ to a place it has said will be the safest from the ravages of “climate change”,. That place is Antarctica.
It would be the perfect place for their HQ. It is about as far from the equator as you can get and is where the UN has declared multiple times that all the people that will survive the “climate crisis” will have to live and it has the added benefit of being on neutral ground! No country has a claim over it.
And no I AM NOT KIDDING. If I had my way, that is exactly where the UN HQ would be. Well inland on Antarctica as close to the S. Pole as possible would be best, but I’d even settle for it being just a few miles from the coast.
There is a perfectly good UN headquarters in Geneva, the site of the original League of Nations. As a student at the International School in Geneva, we held mock UN sessions on the floor of the General Assembly chamber. It would serve admirably for the seat of the UN again, and the diplomats would have access to all the modern converiences of the first world without the inconvenience of a huge urban environment. The Swiss would love it, and the accomplishments of the UN could continue, as the Swiss have a great banking system with utter secrecy for the major UN grifting programs.

A REAL DISGRACE took place at the United Nations yesterday — Not one, not two, but three very sinister events! First, the escalator going up to the Main Speaking Floor came to a screeching halt.
It stopped on a dime. It’s amazing that Melania and I didn’t fall forward onto the sharp edges of these steel steps, face first.
It was only that we were each holding the handrail tightly or, it would have been a disaster.
This was absolutely sabotage, as noted by a day’s earlier “post” in The London Times that said UN workers “joked about turning off an escalator.”
The people that did it should be arrested!
Then, as I stood before a Television crowd of millions of people all over the World, and important Leaders in the Hall, my teleprompter didn’t work.
It was stone cold dark.
I immediately thought to myself, “Wow, first the escalator event, and now a bad teleprompter.
What kind of a place is this?”
I then proceeded to make a Speech without a teleprompter, which kicked in about 15 minutes later.
The good news is the Speech has gotten fantastic reviews.
Maybe they appreciated the fact that very few people could have done what I did.
And third, after making the Speech, I was told that the sound was completely off in the Auditorium where the Speech was made, that World Leaders, unless they used the interpreters’ earpieces, couldn’t hear a thing.
The first person I saw at the conclusion of the Speech was Melania, who was sitting right up front. I said, “How did I do?” And she said, “I couldn’t hear a word you said.”
This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN.

Over 30 years ago, I worked with a physician whom I very much admired. He was sued for prescribing Tylenol for a patient postoperatively. It was a normal dose – nothing out of the ordinary.
That patient suffered profound kidney and liver damage. As a result that doc could not get insurance for his surgery practice. The dangers from Tylenol were known that long ago.
Of course, there are inherent dangers in almost all meds. My husband wound up with a small bowel perforation from NSAIDS. He almost lost his life. He now uses only Tylenol, when necessary.
So,……if you are pregnant, isn’t it just common sense to avoid all meds that are not absolutely necessary? Is it worth taking Tylenol in excess simply to make a point? Poor child with a mom like that. 😔

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Both disturbances are likely to develop into hurricanes.
Don’t be surprised if the NHC shifts the track of AL94 a bit further west. According to the latest model runs it may may very well scrape along the shore somewhere in the Carolinas. If so, it will be the first hurricane to hit the US this season. But forecasting the track of two tropical cyclones so close together is even trickier than normal because they effect each other tracks. So the greater the distance between them, the more likely the forecast of the storms track will be accurate.
Anyway, it is looking like our hiatus is over and October will be a hyperactive month for hurricane formation in the Atlantic relative to averages but the storms are likely to not develop until they get into the western portion of the MDR (Main Development Region) and shorter track storms like that tend to be physically smaller storms. So all the news is not bad.

When I was a kid, we always had old beat up cars. My dad was truly a genius mechanic, and would soon have them purring. (He wasn’t into the restoration anesthetics, however.)
My mom would drive my brother and I to school in a 1939 Hupmobile that Dad had gotten in a junkyard and brought back to life. My brother and I would duck down under the dashboard, because the kids would laugh at our car! 😁
What I wouldn’t do to have that old classic now!
I still drive old cars, myself (won’t find me ducking anymore!) However, I did have new car in 1984! 🙃

A girl after my own heart. I’d still be driving my 2000 minivan (also complete with cassette player!) if a giant pine tree hadn’t fallen atop it. Fortunately for us, we weren’t in it!
The advantage of driving an old minivan is – you never get stopped. They figure you’re a doddering old woman (all true), and leave you alone.
When I had my 66′ red Mustang, I was always being stopped – on a few occasions, I was still in second gear. All illusion! 😃 😀 😄
In 1962 my father was transferred from HQs U.S. State Department in DC to the U.S> Mission in Genva. When we first arrived in Europe and got to Geneva, I saw a number of these on the road and was curious about the odd shape. Turns out that the Messerschmidt aircraft factory, at the end of WWII, had a number of fighter plane fuselages and cockpit forms left over and undamaged from the bombing. They initially contracted with the Italian motorscooter firm Vespa, to use motors and drive trains, and created a cheap persoanl vehicle out of existing war scrap cockpits. Voila, they were in the vehicle business, and they continued the line for years afterwards, keeping the basic shape for a very long time, as these 1955 models suggest..

After Rix Six posted his video about finding and eating wild mushrooms (Chanterelles!), my husband found a variety of mushrooms in our yard, and a lot of this kind.
Would love to take advantage of them while they’re here, but only if they won’t kill us (and I won’t even start harvesting them until I’m certain of that!).

I looked at them and then went on a search for this mushroom, since the Oyster mushroom doesn’t look quite like what we have.
I’m lost at what this is.
Went to the local greenhouse and they said they don’t know fungi at all.
Went to two other places for help, but they couldn’t help me, either.
This mushroom is taupe in color on the top, cream color underneath, has very little stem, so it squats close to the ground. Grows in grass or along the edge of dirt, not in big clumps of mushrooms, and the mushroom I picked and took the picture of was small next to some of the others out there.

Dear Almighty Father,
