It is why they don’t make the capsules anymore. Someone had poisoned the capsules and most of the family died. It’s why bottles have that plastic seal on them now, to keep bad people from slipping stuff into the product.

I’m old enough to remember when Tylenol was by prescription only. And very few took it, for that reason. Fever relief in the old days was with an ice pack.
Once a medication hits OTC, it becomes big marketing and bigger business.

A few years ago he went down to the shore of Lake Superior, just as the sun was rising, and played Amazing Grace. It was a fabulous thing to hear the song and feel it float across the water and out into the world as the sun made a gold string across the water’s horizon.

Echoing Taps, not dueling, my brain farts a lot these days. We had some high schoolers years ago that every Memorial Day would be standing at opposite ends of the field and the sound would echo off the building. Never a dry eye, ever. I wish I had a recording of them. The service was never quite the same once they went off to college and then the pre-recorded bugler/trumpet was done. Just not the same.
I can’t watch this and not cry.

The wedding was here in Texas, and we travelled from Britain for it. Couldn’t bring the Sgian-dubh, but we found a specialty knife shop on Dallas who, when we explained what we needed and just for the wedding, the owner was gracious enough to loan it to us (complete strangers to him).
He took an imprint of our credit card but didn’t process it. We returned it the next day and gave us the credit slip.

You can get it transferred. We had old Super 8 movies from the 1960s transferred to DVD. If they can transfer Super 8s, they can transfer video. Look it up online for someone in your area who does this.

Autism spike is in correlation with the ever increasing childhood vaccine schedule becoming most noticeable in the early 1990’s soon after vaccine manufactures got tort immunity.
I know several parents of children with autism, including a really good friend, who utterly reject vaccines, Tylenol, plastics, food additives or anything else that someone proposes. They are all in the “we have no idea and neither does anyone else” camp and say we all just have to live with it.
I think they are afraid to find out that something they unknowingly did caused autism in their child(ren).
The people I know whose kids have it likewise dismiss any potential cause and get angry if you suggest that maybe there’s some environmental factor at work here.
Like you said, I think it’s because they don’t want to live with the guilt. But if you didn’t know there was a problem, it’s not like you did it on purpose. It might be too late to fix it, but it’s not too late to help other families from facing the same problems.
It is never too late to try and help your child if you have any common sense or sympathy for the human being you raising to be a productive adult.

Jenny McCarthy successfully treated her son with autism symptoms, using whatever therapies she could locate, and was viciously attacked for being successful. There are people who are adamantly against any successful therapies for autism.

I personally know of two people who died from liver problems related to Tylenol use in their forties.
One did also drink alcohol but the other never did. Tylenol use for both and they were told this by their doctors . The woman was treated and learned this at Mayo.
Four decades ago an attorney colleague who also had a med degree told me to never, ever take Tylenol with alcohol, that doing so causes liver damage. I never did. For that matter, I’ve never even had Tylenol in the medicine cabinet and glad for it.
I took it for a couple months after a hand operation.
But my diet is packed with folate rich foods. I went and looked at a list and counted 16.
Perhaps it all evens out.
But not, I think, for very young babies.
Metabolism of alcohol can exhaust an enzyme that is also used for metabolism of Tylenol. If that enzyme is exhausted metabolism of Tylenol takes a different pathway which generates a liver toxin
Tylenol destroyed the liver of a football player back in the 80’s. Drs told him to take as many as he needed for pain.
That’s sad. I don’t think it does much for pain at all.
Ibuprofen has always helped me more with pain because it actually cuts down on inflammation, but the thing is doctors recognize it is NOT safe during pregnancy. Tylenol was always given a free pass, and it doesn’t help with inflammation, supposedly just pain. It’s never helped me personally.
Tylenol is also popular amongst those, usually teen girls, attempting suicide.
When I worked as a ICU nurse it was a favorite way to commit suicide. Some people died. Others ended up on the liver transplant list. Tylenol is not benign

Tylenol is a brand name for the generic drug acetaminophen. Tylenol products contain acetaminophen as their active ingredient, which works as a pain reliever and fever reducer.

I agree. The correlation is direct and obvious. They should have taken the vaccines head on. Instead, they blamed Tylenol. I’m not doubting that acetaminophen could be an aggravating factor, but by ignoring vaccines they let Pharma off the hook. And I don’t think RFK and Trump are on the same page about this. I think RFK wants to indict the Pharma vaccines, but President Trump wants the Pharmas to take on the domestic manufacturing of medical products we now buy from China, and that’s why they got a pass. Lots of people are allergic to aspirin. Like me. I cannot take any nsaids because of it and only have Tylenol to take for pain from arthritis and other issues that crop up. It’s not an anti inflammatory so it just takes the edge off the pain. I take as little as possible and never ever exceed the daily recommendations. I never drink alcohol when taking Tylenol. Ever. The only other options lean towards the opioids meds and Inwill not touch those unless the pain someday becomes more than I can handle and still function. Tylenol has been around for decades. I have taken it over many years and my liver has been fine in any testing I’ve had. Maybe like other meds, it’s how you manage what you’re taking and pay attention to exceeding dosages or using it with things like alcohol. I’m not sure I buy into the autism connection to tylenol unless other factors are also linking it in.
I do buy into the increase of vaccines after 1989 and after the pharmas were given immunity for them. The increase in the number of vaccines given to babies after that correlates to the increases in autism and other childhood chronic diseases and neuro issues. Many quality studies released on unvaxed vs vaxed indicate a big connection to those vaccinated and childhood autism. The Amish studies also prove this. There are just too many correlations to deny and to be honest, I’m not happy this Tylenol connection, as real as it might be, is pushing the vaccines into the background. Their effectiveness and safety should be number one on the investigation list for childhood health and development.
I’m sure there isn’t just one answer to any of this, but the vaccine connection needs to remain in the spotlight and for some reason it seems to be being pushed down. RFK has spent 20 years on this link of vaccines and autism. He said he was ready to prove it and now he looks(to me) a bit defeated, like he swallowed a bitter pill and cannot do what he wants.
I am probably reading too much into it, but he looked less than happy yesterday when Pres. Trump mentioned the autism announcement coming today. This announcement lacks any real excitement or interest in what should be a monumental revelation, the one RFK seemingly wanted but didn’t get to produce. I am interested in seeing where this goes down the road here. Something just feels off about the whole thing. To me anyway.

I see people everywhere complaining that Tylenol can’t possibly be it and it has to be vaccines, but consider: Tylenol is considered the only safe-to-use painkiller for pregnancy. The average American has become extremely pain-adverse, while pregnancy is a nine month marathon of unpleasant physical symptoms. Tylenol is pushed by every pregnancy website. EVERY SINGLE ONE tells you it’s safe to take it for everything from round ligament pain (your belly stretching out) to headaches to fever to any other possible discomfort you might have, and lately, it’s “disregard those studies, it’s fine!”
It wouldn’t surprise me if usage rates there have skyrocketed.
It also seems like the worst damage is accrued in the second and third trimester… might it keep affecting brain development after birth? Say, when the doctor tells you to give your one week old Tylenol before or after a vaccination in order to control fever and/or pain? That’s not a grown-up dose anymore, but it’s not modulated by the mother’s body.

I never took any medication during pregnancy, did not drink coffee or alcohol. All went well. Don’t know whether there was a correlation, but I figured why take a chance with someone else’s life.
I used to get severe migraines as a young adult, which were only relieved by taking Exedrin migraine. Nothing else. However, when I was pregnant I suffered through them without taking anything, because I was more concerned about my baby’s wellbeing than I was about the headache.
I think pregnant women should stay clear of all medications if at all possible. Oddly enough, my migraines disappeared completely after I had all my children. It must have been hormonal.

Autism often doesn’t surface for year or two.
This certainly could be a factor. No medicine is safe when used improperly. Tylenol to the unborn baby via the mother needs more study for sure. Tylenol in conjunction with vaccinations needs to be studied. It all can be a factor in many health issues for children.
Small babies whose immune systems are just beginning to activate are subjected to multiple doses of vaccines from day one now. This just cannot be ignored and considered as without having adverse consequences to those babies. Where are the studies saying the dosages are not harmful? Nowhere to be found. Where are the studies that show all these doses of vaccines in the first year of life are doing anything positive and are effective? Nowhere.
Tylenol could be an activator for damages for sure. Denying vaccines are not a problem, by health officials, is beyond ridiculous imo.
Also, I have been told that veterinarians won’t give vaccines to nursing puppies because the mother dog’s milk prevents the vaccines from being useful. If that is true for puppies I would imagine it is the same for nursing human infants

Trump is not good at explaining scientific things. 🙂 But it’s a scientifically-valid advisory: pregnant women should limit the use of Tylenol, and parents should limit the use of Tylenol in their kids. My wife is a pediatrician. She basically treats Tylenol/acetaminophen / kids as a bad thing. Parents like to give it when kids have fevers and she’s always telling them “no!”
Especially younger children. So that’s not especially new, though I think she believes all the “Children’s” Tylenol (and generic) shouldn’t be sold. Too easy to increase the dosage to adult levels. In a nation of borderline illiterates, we cannot just trust people to read the 3pt font on the box.
In terms of childhood diseases, by all means, start that preventative care in the womb. For a lot of Americans, that means…

No weed / no drugs

The Tylenol recommendation, back in the day, was due to the (remote) possibility of aspirin causing Reyes syndrome in babies. It was an unnecessary scare, but it sure got the Tylenol ball rolling.

I remember when they came out w/”Children’s Tylenol” for marketing, and children’s everything else to promote sales.
Children’s liquid Tylenol is 160mg. Adult regular strength is 350mg. Based on the directions, by the time a kid is 6-8 or 50lbs, the dosing is 10ml of the children’s liquid which is 320mg…nearly the adult regular dose.
Even when our kids were young tweens, she avoided acetaminophen for them.
There is a point at which something to bring down a fever is important, but people don’t read the directions and just start dosing it.
It’s like antibiotics which are wildly overprescribed. She complains a lot about parents demanding it when it’s not effective for what the kid is sick with.
I have not watched the announcement yet but I remember RFK Jr. correlating the timing of the ‘outbreak’ of Autism with the start of the vaccinations in the 60’s. What is the timeline for the appearance of Tylenol as being pushed instead of Aspirin? It seems to me that was more in the ’70’s. So, if Tylenol is responsible, what happened in the 60’s?
Like many things, it may turn out to be a combination of factors and not any one thing.
In the 60’s people didn’t take 72 shots before they were 18. And they didn’t give Tylenol because it didn’t exist. Mostly mothers would try a cool wash cloth or barely warm bath to bring down a fever.

Exactly. My Mother used to wipe us down with alcohol water or a lukewarm bath. It always felt good but she also gave us aspirin if our temps were higher than 101. Baby aspirin for the bunch of us if we needed it. I always have wondered why I wasn’t allergic to aspirin until I was around 20. Never as a child. What changed in my body to cause my immune system to overreact to aspirin later in my adult life? An unsolved mystery.
My son was born in 1977, and they were pushing Tylenol back then, as “safer” than a baby aspirin. I fell for it initially, until I read how rare Reyes syndrome is. Went back to aspirin, although I think I only used anything for fever with my son once.

In 2020 I ordered Ivermectin on line from Tractor Supply, got a 75 ml bottle for around $45. I just purchased it again recently at the local Tractor Supply store. 25 ml bottle for $45.

I think that was part of it. If I remember correctly, the link to Reyes was eventually narrowed down to be with chickenpox virus and there is a warning on aspirin now that specifically says this.

Agreed. I also think there are some children born with autism for whatever reason, genetic or something the mother passed to the baby in utero. A friend of mine has three grandchildren, all boys. Two have autism. The middle one is perfectly normal. The first born had numerous issues when he was born from the get go. He had bowel issues and was badly impacted, could not defecate, constipated, infections, which he got in the first few weeks after his birth and that were treated by antibiotics, and constant crying events, harsh crying like he was in pain. He slept little from the beginning. He is severely autistic, doesn’t speak and now at age 18 is having even more difficulties with his emotional and mental state. The youngest is not as severely autistic but is definitely on the spectrum. He has never eaten properly, refused most foods. He developed intestinal issues as a young child and was diagnosed with Crohns at age 10. He eats little but yogurt as does his oldest brother. Between lack of nutrition and whatever caused their autism, these boys have had a rough life so far physically and healthwise. It is very sad to watch unfold. By the way, their father is a physician.
Whatever caused their autism, it does seem rooted in some sort of genetic issue. This too needs to be explored as to causation of autism onset for some children.

My grandson has autism and his mom never took Tylenol during pregnancy. It’s the vaccines! They also cause SIDS. MMR vaccine has already been proven to cause autism. The number of vaccines has skyrocketed and babies get 4 to 6 at a time. Outrageous! Big Pharma wins again! Amish do not get Autism because they don’t get vaccines. Plenty of doctors have done research in their own practices and state all the unvaccinated kids are very healthy. Every single case of autism or adhd are with their vaccinated kids.
Where do you find pediatricians who allow non vaccinated kids in their practices. Around here, they post signs in their offices stating if you don’t follow their vaccine recommendations then go somewhere else. If you can find a functional pediatric doctor you might be allowed to defer the vaccines or refuse some but we don’t have them here in NYS that I could find.

I must be very blessed. 52 years ago I was pregnant with my 1st child and my dr. advised me to only take Tylenol if I needed any type of pain relief. I took sparingly with all three pregnancies. I have continued to use it sparingly since then because NSAIDs wreck my digestive system.
Three grown kids double masters degree grads later and I still only take Tylenol. I’m 74 and only visit Dr once a year. No pharmaceutical drugs. No vaccines. I guess I will still take it.

Given that tylenol is only useful for mild pain, maybe people ought to stop being so delicate and just “tough it out”. It’s not only known dangerous to the liver in higher doses, but there is something called a “ceiling effect” in which more tylenol does not do better. (For severe non-chronic pain, ibuprofen works better and doesn’t have this issue. Pregnant women shouldn’t take this either.)

First of all, this was a “Trump Administration announcement.” If Kackles was President this would have been a “CDC announcement” because Democrats “believe in science.” The announcement itself may had at most 10 seconds of airtime, and I believe I am overestimating that time significantly.
Secondly, the segment hosts spent more time reading Kenvue’s PR statement than they did on the announcement itself. They also repeatedly used the phrase “acetaminophen, commonly known as Tylenol” as means to confuse and distract viewers from the fact that this is indeed Tylenol.
Thirdly, they warned about “confusion” among pregnant women regarding the safety of medicines used during pregnancy. My mum had 9 pregnancies, 8 children. She used paracetamol (which had codeine in it back then) through every pregnancy. Not one case of autism.
Personally, I think the shots kids get these days are the cause… and deflecting to a common pain reliever as the cause is music to big pharma’s ears.

This recent meta-study summarizes: Appropriate and immediate steps should be taken to advise pregnant women to limit acetaminophen consumption to protect their offspring’s neurodevelopment.
The critics are correct in that correlation does not mean causation, but studies are on-going to id cause-and-effect. In the meantime, PDJT decided it was “good enough” to make a recommendation. The Harvard et al study says the same thing.

I read a study many years ago about how they were concerned that alcoholics were committing suicide in large numbers with tylenol. Turned out they were just trying to get over a hangover but because their livers were in bad shape already, they couldn’t deal with it and died. They weren’t trying to trying to kill themselves. The tylenol pushed them over the edge.
