Germany is doomed. This makes me worried because I have two lifelong friends living in Berlin at the moment.
At one time, I also had two who I thought to be lifelong friends in Germany, until one castigated and rejected me for supporting President Trump. Additionally, I never heard back from the other.
Since those ties have been severed, I could care less about Germany and German culture that once interested me.
I hope that your friendships are stronger than the ones that I once enjoyed.

It is almost impossible to call a company, bank, insurance organization etc and speak to someone whose first language is English. It drives me to distraction. I’m sure most of us were raised to be polite and respectful, but, how many times must you say, “I can’t understand you?”
I hear you, particularly on the ‘service’ side. Late the other evening, I had to contact my credit card company and had the good fortune of speaking with a super helpful American customer service rep in Florida.
By the same token, I have learned on the sales side to tap into the Boston Russian speaking (and largely Jewish) diaspora through my fiancé as they know how to ‘hussle’,and I mean that in a positive way, through hard work and sharing of valuable information.
When I started my business 4 years ago, I choose a local well-known, Chamber of Commerce-blessed business for auto, home and business insurance.
Early last November, I paid my business insurance off in total, and then received renewal notices for home and auto. My auto insurance was projected to jump from $1200 to $1500 a year.
My fiancé gave me the contact information for her insurance agent (Moldovan) and she offered me an auto plan that was half the cost and a significant discount on home, saving me about $800-900. I plan on contacting her to see how she might help me with business insurance as the renewal approaches.
Additionally, I have been considering selling my condo for about 4 years.
Initially, I had contacted a local realtor who is well known in the community I live in, a big wheel in the Chamber of Commerce and also deeply involved in local Democratic politics. As distasteful as that is, I had looked beyond it as she has the reputation as a good realtor, she had been the sell-side agent when I purchased my condo and had lived in the condo community with her husband years ago. Naively, I figured this made her uniquely qualified to help sell my home.
One school of thought in showing one’s home is to eliminate as much as possible ‘personal’ items when listing and the couple times she walked through my place, she made a couple of what she thought were playful digs at me, which I will not try explain here.
About two years later, I stopped by at a yard sale and found a pallet of paver bricks for $50, though hesitated to commit without taking the advice and assistance of my lady. We agreed that although what was sure to be a laborious find, we wanted those pavers for a patio for our future home.
We went back to pick them up, the said realtor was there and remarked, “Here comes trouble.”
I glared at her, strike 5 or 6, and she was out!!
Recently, we invited a realtor from St. Petersburg, Russia to meet with us, and have decided when the times comes, she will represent the sale of my home.

My brother was very athletic. For awhile he was a walk on with the U. of Kentucky freshman basketball team.
He had to quit because of symptoms,
we later found out was a malignant brain tumor as big as his fist.
He fought it for years.
One of the the things he started saying “I love you.”
He wanted to make sure we knew he loved us in case we wouldn’t see him again.
He died at 22.
Saying “I love you,” became a tradition in our family.

Rising-sea hysteria debunked — but the ‘climate change’ cult won’t care
A new study found that there is no evidence that climate change has contributed to rising sea levels.Photo by Tayfun Coskun/Anadolu via Getty Images
Yet another much-predicted climate-change catastrophe turns out to be baseless: Worldwide sea levels are not rising any faster than a century ago.
This doesn’t mean climate change isn’t happening, nor that particular locales don’t face a rising-seas problem — but it does mean no apocalypse is coming unless the whole world takes drastic action to prevent it.
For decades, complex climate-change models have indicated global sea levels to be rising at twice or more the historic level, but until now, no scientists had bothered checking that against actual observed reality.
Dutch engineer Hessel Voortman and researcher Rob de Vos finally did the work; their peer-reviewed study in the Journal of Marine Science and Engineering, “A Global Perspective on Local Sea Level Changes,” shows the models have gotten it completely wrong.
They reviewed actual data (on an average of a century of observations) at 150,000 coastal locations across the planet to determine that sea-level rise this century will likely be about 6 inches, the same as last century.
The models, which extrapolated from observations in the Antarctic only, plus a host of assumptions about how the oceans respond to rising global temperatures, suggested sea levels increasing by 1 foot to 3 feet by 2100.
Indeed, Princeton University’s Michael Oppenheimer predicted in 2019 that sea levels would rise by more than 34 inches by century’s end.
The Dutch researchers’ “first-ever global study of sea level rise” refutes those claims — and raises the huge question of why no one else had bothered to test the predictions.
As of 2020, they found, the worldwide rise is only around 1.5 millimeters per year — far less than the 3 mm to 4 mm (0.12 to 0.16 inches) a year routinely reported in scientific literature and the general news media.
For his own uses as a hydraulic engineer working with flood-protection and coastal-infrastructure adaptation projects, Voortman two years ago checked actual data for the Netherlands, and found it didn’t match the global predictions.
He was shocked to find that no one else was checking the models’ claims against observed reality, and set out at his own expense to do the global study.
Where I live in North East Scotland the sea level is falling – or more accurately the land is recovering from the miles high burden of ice from the last ice age.
This is making it difficult for local boat men launching their fishing boats.
Of course the softies in the South of England are experiencing sea level rises – due to subsidence .
Britain is tilting.
I wonder has anyone told the thousands of boat invaders who settle in the south.

Reading through the comments last night on the President’s “religious” advisory council thread, I found it rather disappointing that there is much support for (even antagonism) to “separate” Christianity from the “Judah” aspect. The general feeling being that it no longer applies – we’re good thank you. Which is precisely the feeling I get coming from all the 3 “religions” – each sure they know for certain under which cup the peh is. But, like every punter should know (actually does know but doesn’t want to admit it) The peh Is only under 1 cup, because that is the truth.
Now of course the other 2 choices are going to feel betrayed, conned, hurt, angry, sad, etc, and will inevitably turn on their respective “coaches” (now cockroaches), who will understandably feel just as “betrayed” by their coaches – and so on and so on. The cold hard fact is, however, we will ALL face the Father on judgement day to give account. I have the feeling though that The Creator will not so much hold us to account because we got it wrong (what did we know right??) – but He will require of us that we were/are “good” people, who did their best (and beyond) to be a light in this world – even if just a flickering candle.
Our Creator is a God of truth, kindness and long suffering, always yearning for the good of all creation. If you reflect or at least desire to reflect these (and more) then I’m sure you’ll be welcome – irrespective of the peh you chose. If yours good you’re good – right?? Of course while we still have the chance, it’s a good idea to check whether you coaches themselves have got it right, or better yet make sure yourself.

ISRAEL ATTACKED THE LEADERSHIP OF HAMAS IN QATAR!
Israel avoided it until now because of Trump’s relations to Qatar and his objection. It appears that he probably removed his objection after he saw that the leadership of Hamas is objecting to give hostages and end the war unless Israel is defeated and retreats and let Hamas re-grow in Gaza.
It’t premature to tell results but I think it was a meeting of their leadership and the top leader may have being killed along with others.
There is also a Military leader in Gaza. His family are mostly Hamas members and Israel has been getting rid of them one by one. Apparently he himself is around hostages as a shield.
The nose is tightening.
Looks like 5 of their top leaders were targeted.

Remember this Vermont basketball team? They were some of the first women in America to forfeit a game vs. a male player—and were banned from the league over it. TODAY they won big at the 2nd Circuit. Now they’re back in the game.
The 2nd Circuit has just ruled that Vermont must allow Mid Vermont Christian School back into the state’s athletic association—ending two years of exile over their religious belief that boys can’t become girls.
Mid Vermont’s student athletes were banned from competition in 2023 after they followed their religious convictions, forfeiting a state tournament game which would have pitted their girls’ high school team against a male athlete who was over 6 feet tall.
Shortly afterward, @ADFLegal
helped them sue Vermont in federal court. Now the 2nd Circuit has ruled in their favor, citing Masterpiece Cakeshop—ADF’s well-known 2018 case on behalf of Colorado cake artist Jack Phillips. Similar to Masterpiece, the court here found that the Vermont Principals’ Association (VPA) likely violated the First Amendment by demonstrating impermissible hostility toward the school’s religious beliefs.
For example, the VPA openly “attacked the validity” of the school’s religious beliefs, insisting that the girls should have been able to compete against a male athlete because Brigham Young University athletes don’t endorse Catholicism when they play against Notre Dame. That statement fundamentally misunderstands Mid Vermont’s religious beliefs.
And as the 2nd Circuit correctly held, “the VPA may not impose discipline based on its view that Mid Vermont’s religious objection was ‘wrong.’” Even worse, a VPA official publicly denigrated the school’s religious convictions, calling them “blatant discrimination under the guise of religious freedom.” That official “publicly castigated Mid Vermont—and religious schools generally—while the VPA rushed to judgment on whether and how to discipline the school.” And the punishment the VPA imposed on the school—permanently banning all the school’s sports teams from the athletic association—was “unprecedented, overbroad, and procedurally irregular.”
Today’s ruling stands as a rebuke to Vermont officials’ religious intolerance—and a vindication of Mid Vermont’s courage. I couldn’t be prouder of their coach and players for standing by their convictions, even under intense national scrutiny. I’m also grateful to see Masterpiece continuing to have ripple effects for the benefit of religious plaintiffs.
As the attorney who argued that case before the Supreme Court, I stood by Jack’s side and witnessed how difficult his journey was. I confess it was hard to watch him continue to suffer legal harassment, even after winning at SCOTUS. But there’s a team of brave young ladies who are now free to play basketball in Vermont this winter because Jack stood firm. It’s a good reminder that in the fight for liberty, we’re playing the long game. And we’re playing to win.

Alberta seems to be already committed to independence.

If all that happens I would fully expect the interior of BC to split away from the coast and island.
The central government of Canada will no longer have other people’s money to spend on socialism so who knows what happens to the rest of the provinces and territories.
This deal may have a leavening effect on the USA as in what is expected of a state in the USA.
It will be a huge deal and expect the progressives to scream about adding conservative states worse than when the Missouri compromise was a question!
Personally there should be a path to disavow/penalize states who blatantly do not follow the Constitution such as say California or New York. Wanna play sanctuary cities ? Wanna play socialism? Lose your statehood and become a territory for awhile!
