I have tools in my bedroom to take door off hinges in case my schizophrenic brother locks me in with the chain lock. That is to hold the door open a crack for supply air when running the portable A/C.
He tried two days ago. I happened to be standing by the door after I closed it and when I heard the chain rustle, opened the door. I have since put a small padlock on it to prevent that.
He is off the rails here since our mother was promoted to glory last Saturday. She would have been 89 in December.

I saved a coffee cup of my dad’s that has his name on it. The print on it is wearing away with time and washings, so I use it quite sparingly.

Good morning Betsy. Ah yes the Christmas Tree! To conquer it is euphoric for the cat! Been there and done it a few times in my life cleaning up what was a beautiful tree. The cats also liked the green garlands on the stairway railings and over the mantel of the fireplace.
Unfortunately, Cleo had to come in before I got her fixed, and the “little” boys of her litter are acting goofy. I did not think kittens hormones kicked in until about 6 months old. Live and learn. I am concerned about Maizie as she is coughing and hacking. I think its a hairball but it it really bothering me. I put some olive oil on her tongue with an eye dropper hoping it will help. She is eating and using the litter box.
Maybe she is suffering from bad allergies. Pollen became extremely high here ( in the 11 and higher range) in the last few days and I am suffering horribly myself.
Was hoping the heavy rain we had last night would alleviate some of the pollen, but it is still close to ten which is high.
I sure am enjoying the cooler weather today. Beau is too, as he is sitting outside watching the birds, chickens and squirrels.
I will be dropping off the cats tomorrow and their “fixing” surgery will be Monday. I guess they want to make sure they don’t eat 24 hours before the surgery. I will keep you updated.

American businessman who co-founded Amway, dies at 92
Biography: Richard DeVos was an American businessman who co-founded the multi-level marketing company Amway (now known as Alticor) with Jay Van Andel in 1959. The company sold cleaning products and later expanded to distribute goods worldwide.
DeVos was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Dutch American parents who worked with electrical equipment. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II prior to entering into business.
He became very wealthy from Amway, although the company has been criticized as a pyramid scheme and even banned from India due to their business practices. In 2012, Forbes said he was the 60th richest person in the United States with an estimated net worth of $5.1 billion.
In 1970, DeVos and his wife Helen started a foundation that supported education, healthcare, the arts and conservative political causes. DeVos donated large sums of money to the Republican Party over the years.
He served for a period as the finance chairman for the Republican National Committee. DeVos was also close friends with former President Gerald Ford and his wife Betty Ford and, when Ford died, DeVos was an honorary pallbearer at his funeral.
In 1991, DeVos bought the Orlando Magic NBA team in 1991 for $85 million. He had previously tried to get a Major League Baseball team in Orlando but failed to do so.
After being denied a transplant in the United States as he was deemed too old and unhealthy, DeVos went to the United Kingdom for a heart transplant in 1997. He wrote about this experience in his book “Hope From My Heart” (1997).
