For anyone who streams the Truth+ TV app, there is an engrossing documentary about Clarence Thomas’s whole life on there. I highly recommend it.
Some people are simply made for one another, sis. And if they are fortunate, their paths cross. Having said that, I do not believe for one second that fortune or serendipity have any part in it.

FT and Yahoo, etc., which often lack timely updates, and found nothing to explain the plunge in oil prices. However, about 2 PM EDT, I found this on Reuters:
MOSCOW, Aug 26 (Reuters) – “Russia has revised up its crude oil export plan from western ports by 200,000 barrels per day (bpd) in August from the initial schedule after Ukrainian drone attacks disrupted refinery operations and freed up more crude for shipment,” three people familiar with the matter said. This implies two things:
Targeting Russia’s oil infrastructure has the unintended transitory effect of increasing global supplies.
Russia is impervious to U.S. sanctions. Exporting an extra 200,000 bpd means Russia oil still has a buyers and destinations: “Loadings from Primorsk, Novorossiysk, and Ust-Luga are expected to reach about 2 million barrels per day (bpd), up from an initial plan of 1.8 million bpd,” sources familiar said
“Targeting Russia’s oil infrastructure has the unintended transitory effect of increasing global supplies”
Why? Do they export less after they refine it? That seems like a sketchy stat.

Yes, after crude is refined it can be sold as gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, etc., so there is less to export.
If Russia’s refineries are destroyed and unable to refine crude, Russia think it better to sell the crude and buy gasoline, diesel fuel, etc. from countries able to refine the crude…

See 60 Minutes video above. That is useful even when the market isn’t crashing. That is the buy/sell side in normal times and it isn’t mutual funds as they were some of the ones who complain. It’s the selling side that is front run, too, in crashes. Individual day-traders are multiply screwed in crashes not just by this but because the services they use to trade slow to a crawl or crash.
It’s surprising to me how few people work with a financial planner to build wealth while keeping assets safe.
My wife and I have been using one faithfully for 20+ years to grow our nest egg and prepare for emergencies.

From the jobs report Ticker last Friday you know I’ve been flagging a pattern that has never been wrong in the thirty years I’ve followed it. It has only triggered, other than after the early 2020 “surprise” (certainly an externality and not an economic-driven event) twice — in front of the 2000 and 2008 market dislocations.
It is unfortunately not a good timing indicator at all; that is, it is a very strong warning but doesn’t tell you when the triggering event will come. However, what it does tell you is that you’re unwise to be expecting large forward returns in the market when it is trending negative — and it is and has been since December of 2023.
That of course pre-dates the last election so trying to point fingers at either of the last two Administrations is to point a finger at both. Then again this should not be a surprise: Running a 7% fiscal deficit, which we are, when the cost of borrowing on the short end is 4% is attempting to keep the economic plates spinning and the people who are getting the short end of that deal are all of the common folks such as you and I.
Neither political party has had the desire to take any of this and the driving elements of it in the economy on yet it must stop. Either rates have to be such that there is no negative real rate against the fiscal deficit anywhere on the curve, which means the 13 week bill must trade at about 7-1/4% and the 10 year around 9% or the fiscal deficit must be cut to 3% with rates where they are now. To cut the fiscal deficit to 3% you would have to take more than a trillion dollars out of Federal spending on an immediate and permanent basis.
There is, of course, exactly zero impetus within the Congress to do that or anything approaching it and the claims made by Trump when he came into office that tariffs were going to amount to a trillion a year on their own are clearly, six+ months into this experiment, not going to pan out. Add to that sky-high stock valuations and even a 50% decline in the stock market would not return any of the high-flying stocks to anywhere near reasonable valuation metrics.

Of extreme importance to me is the 12 month population-adjusted change in employment which now has an unbroken negative string of prints going back to December of 2023 and this month is -3.380 million. This is an indicator that very rarely shows this pattern and when it does it portends extremely serious economic dislocations (think 2008!) in the offing. It is worthless for exact timing but very useful as an indicator as to whether you want to take risk on a forward 12 or 24 month basis: Doing so when this indicator is showing trouble, which is quite rare, has historically proved to be very unwise.
Yep, a wise investor told me selling is an art!

Totally agree Betsy! Also, thanks to the internet, free financial training is widely available (just filter the information provided for any agenda). My distrust of financial advisors is decades old as they always “sell their book”, attempt to put me in investments that run counter to my values (e.g, investing in China, Vanguard funds, etc.) or run counter to my risk profile. I trust no one to look out for my family’s financial interests better then me. Also, I am teaching my family (immediate and extended) these skills so they can “make money while they sleep” and don’t have to work until they die.
We’ve been badly burned, Neville…twice. So at our age we stay out of Wall Street casinos. I’m sure we’ve missed out, but we prefer to make modest gains where we can elsewhere…then sleep easily in our beds at night.

We lost half our 401k value in 2000 during the dotcom bust. Took 6 years to get back to the pre collapse number, only by faithfully contributing the whole time. Have been much more conservative in risk investing since.

There is no such thing as a housing crisis. What they’re saying is, well, we need more affordable housing, but if you don’t look under the hood as to what the problem is, the real problem is HUD, right? The real problem is the government itself in the middle of what should be a normal market condition. If you had a normal market condition, there would be no shortage of housing of any caliber. And the idea that you even call affordable housing affordable housing denotes that you’re making housing for poor people. Housing is housing. Their status, their economic status isn’t relevant. That’s the first thing. Second thing is when you have people like economic development commissions handing out what should be equity, so a developer shows up and the developers got 15% equity. Well, I want to do this project. EDC, help me out. Economic Development Commission, give me another 15%. The EDC gets that money from the real estate tax coffers. So, when you start understanding what’s going on, and HUD is the same thing. So HUD says, “Well, we’ll we’ll create bonds for you. We’ll give the illusion of legitimacy on these outstanding buildings so you can go build more multifamily.” HUD is just a monkey in the middle, but is a very expensive monkey because if I went and built apples to apples, quality to quality, the exact same unit that would be specified under a HUD 221D4, my cost would be 15 to 20% less than that of a HUD project. Apples to apples. Well, if I can build it conventionally for 20% less, then how exactly is what HUD is doing quote deemed affordable? The answer is it isn’t. It’s a con. And when you start to understand who’s behind all this, who was behind most of this, there’s a video out there of Barney Frank himself admitting that they screwed up. But it was Barney Frank under the Frank Dodd rule that started all this nonsense. When the government interjects and interferes with what is a normal market condition, you end up exactly where we are right now. These debts cannot be paid off. Powell stuck in a box. He can’t raise interest rates. He can’t lower interest rates. He’s stuck because one way or the other, he’s he’s dancing on a razor blade. And as they say, well, we’re going to go print more money, which unfortunately is in President Trump’s bill over the next 10 years, 3.8 trillion. Now it’s small as compared to everything else that’s happened. But that’s not the point. You cannot be printing money. You at some point people have to realize you invested in this garbage. You were sold this garbage. This is less than junk bond status. Even Michael Milin would be crawling under a rock right now over this.

Concerning Clarence Thomas…
He had just been confirmed when the following happened:
I had a mixed race student (either half or 1/4th Afro-American with a last name out of England) many years ago, who was most diligent.
One day, when various “Black-on-Black” murders occurred in one weekend in the city, he was discussing his reaction to some friends, while I was within earshot.
“I don’t have much hope for Black People,” he said. And if I recall correctly, he blamed their own bad choices: government checks instead of employment, drugs instead of Religion, the adoption of a “Cool Criminal Kulcher” in stead of the Judaeo-Christian virtues of Western Civilization, etc.
I commented that a Democrat in the 1970’s, Daniel Moynihan, had early observed that The Great Society programs of the 1960’s, government interference supposedly to wipe out poverty, had actually made things worse and “were destroying The Black Family.”
From his experiences, he agreed completely. Despite Clarence Thomas being on the Supreme Court, a Conservative Afro-American who could serve as an example for everyone of diligence and honesty and of following Conservative virtues, he did not think that things would change, but rather that Clarence Thomas would be seen as an anomaly and somebody to be mocked.
“The Great Society” was rampaging unchecked into later decades. e.g. By being generous toward unwed teenaged mothers, the government fertilized growth in the numbers of unwed mothers!

His early life is inspirational. And proves one can move up, from a poor southern, and Catholic, Gullah family near Savannah…to the Supreme Court. He is a tribute to his steadfast determination. In 1991 , when i was doing my Masters in City University NYC, was working part-time in the computer center, my colleague doing Bachelors in Same University. I was new to US from India and he From Guyana , younger than me. I at that time used to argue that Republicans were racist and Democrats were not. He being African American, used to say that my thinking was wrong. He used to say Democrats are bad, they want all blacks in plantations and Republicans are for Individual rights.
It was in 2015 and hounding of Mr. Trump by everyone, made me realize how wrong i was all those years and how right the young person from Guyana was.
My admiration for anyone who self examines hard held beliefs, finds him or herself in error, and pivots. As did Justice Thomas and Dr Thomas Sowell.

No force on earth can take away what God has given us. Thus, I leave you with this thought. The Declaration of Independence may or may not be the American Scripture, as Pauline Maier’s book is entitled, but establishes a moral ideal that we as citizens are duty bound to uphold and sustain. We may fall short. But our imperfection does not relieve us of our obligation. My nuns and my grandparents lived out their sacred vocation in a time of Stark racial animus, and did so with pride with dignity and with honor. May we find it within ourselves to emulate them. Lincoln put it best as in his Gettysburg Address:

I constantly receive emails from Washington Gas, which say that I use too much gas monthly. I get them every month. Then a week ago, I received an email from those POS that said, “due to a warmer than normal winter last year, they will be CHARGING MORE this year to make up the losses from not enough gas being sold…”
I sent them an email blasting them and threatening a lawsuit. More people need to band together to fight this. I’m trying to rally people and emailed my representative, but I don’t have much hope.

A thought had come to me that one possibility why they run down a company/brand is because the growth has reach a plateau and has lost its dynamics, so in order to make money on the stock, they have to drive it down. They short it and buy into it when it hits a controlled bottom and make money as it recovers some ground. Whether or not it’s intentional, it is what happens and some are taking advantage of it, maybe even pouring gasoline on it.

Actually, “smart” meters are quite useful. They can monitor energy usage throughout the grid in real time, thus alerting the companies to potentially-failing components at distribution centers and alerting them to the need to bring up or bring down generation capacity. Likewise, they can immediately locate (very precisely …) any outages, before customers even have a chance to report them. No one needs to drive around to “read” meters, nor to connect or disconnect service.
That is all well and good and useful. But I can see where it’s all headed and ‘micromanaging’ individual usage is always their endgame.
Commiefornia is the test run: Rolling brownouts during peak usage periods. Curtailed water usage to the point of allowing fire hydrants to run dry..
Yet the wealthy and well-connected always have acres and acres of lush green landscapes, generate plenty of air conditioning for their mansions and have all the water they need to keep those swimming pools filled.
Not the sharpest knife in the drawer here but…aren’t utility companies..i.e. gas,electric, and water all public trusts? That’s not exactly conducive to their scam and the entire reason antitrust laws were written.

Same story in every large blue city across the country! If most citizens knew how few officers are actually on duty across their cities at any given time, they would be shocked!

I have asked people who live in the greater Seattle area how many officers they think are on duty in downtown on a typical Saturday night and the guesses have ranged from 25 to 200…truth of the matter is that some nights it’s as low as 10! And those numbers are the same across all five precincts. Washington State, as a whole, has the LOWEST per capita of police officers in the entire country, and yet it votes MORE blue than almost any other state! Stuck on stupid doesn’t even come close to describing what has happened to my once beautiful home…
And frankly, I blame the HIGHLY dysfunctional state GOP almost as much as I blame the Democrats and the media, because they continue to push unelectable candidates rather than getting behind people who could actually win statewide!

Our entire country is being destroyed by illegal and unconstitutional criminal sanctuaries, namely in just 12 of 50 states. These states are engaged in a form of sedition and insurrection against the United States in direct violation of Federal Laws and the Constitutional authority granted Congress in Article I – Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution.
In my opinion, any state that allows a city to be a sanctuary for criminal activities within its borders, is a “sanctuary state” even though the state has not officially declared itself so. But here I will focus upon the 12 states that have officially declared themselves a criminal sanctuary.
Two of these states currently have Republican governors, Utah and Vermont. The other ten sanctuary states are governed by Democrats.
California * Colorado * Connecticut * Illinois * Massachusetts * New Jersey * New York * Oregon * Rhode Island * Utah * Vermont * Washington
The term “Illegal immigration” applies to anyone who commits fraud in their legal application for documented immigrant status. A person complying with U.S. Immigration laws and procedures, but in a fraudulent manner, is an “illegal immigrant.”
But those who break and enter into our country without any effort to respect or comply with our immigration laws, are not “illegal immigrants,” or “undocumented citizens,” they are mere criminals. Those who “aid and abet” or “protect” these criminals and crimes, are also criminals under U.S. Law.
State Governors and City Mayors do not have a legal right to violate Federal Immigration Laws just because they don’t like them.
“To “aid and abet” means to assist, encourage, or facilitate the commission of a crime. In criminal law, this term refers to the act of helping someone commit an illegal act, either by providing support, advice, or by taking actions that promote the crime’s success. It is not a separate crime but a legal theory of liability that holds a person criminally responsible as if they had directly committed the offense.”
Simply stated, the guy driving the getaway car is equally guilty as the guy who went inside to rob the bank. The driver “aided and abetted” the crime. Therefore, he is an equal party to the crime. If a state is not a “declared” sanctuary, but allows a city within the state to be a sanctuary for criminal activities, that state is “aiding and abetting” the crimes taking place within that city.
But when a State declares itself a sanctuary for criminal activities, they have essentially and openly declared themselves “at war” with the United States in direct violation of Federal Laws, which under Article I of the U.S. Constitution, hold “legal supremacy” over the states and cities on the matter.
So, What Should Be Done About it?
Are we a nation governed by “the Rule of Law” or not?
Concerning immigration, Congress created Federal Immigration and Naturalization Laws in accordance with their power and duty assigned them in Article I of the U.S. Constitution. These laws enjoy “federal supremacy” on the subject.
When governors, mayors or county officials knowingly and purposefully violate U.S. Law, resulting in the “aiding and abetting” of criminal activities destructive of not only their own local areas, but the country as a whole, Federal Authorities must take action to bring these areas of our country back into compliance with the law.
More than anything else, the American people are sick and tired of being treated like second class citizens in their own country. They are sick and tired of two sets of laws, or two sets of law enforcement, one for the governing elites, and one for the lowly American taxpayer.
The People are tired of the “elites” driving the nation to more than $37 trillion in taxpayer debt, just to support the ongoing open invasion of our country, by those who enter our country illegally and have no intention of ever assimilating into the American culture or even speaking our national language.
When governors, mayors or county officials intentionally operate in direct violation of our laws, they must be held to a higher standard than the average citizen, because they sought and received the “public trust” and stand in violation of that trust.
If the Federal Government is not going to fully enforce Federal Laws, especially concerning those who took an oath of office, we are a lawless nation headed for the ash heap of history!
Based upon these lawful concepts, 12 Governors should be arrested by Federal Law Enforcement and face criminal charges for their anti-American activities. Unless they are, there is no stopping what’s happening!

I spoke with the mom of one of the girls (Mayah) and got the entire story that the media is covering up and lying about.
So first of all, the reporting got the names of the girls mixed up. There were 3 girls who were there who were accosted and attacked by the migrants.
Lola – Lola is the hero from the video. She’s the one with the axe defending her sister from the migrant attackers
Ruby – Lola’s older sister who was attacked and hospitalized
Mayah – Ruby’s best friend who was with them and went to call the police after Ruby was attacked by the migrants
Here’s the summary of what happened from Mayah’s mother:

So what happened was the girls where out just walking and the man in the picture made comments to Lola (the younger girl) calling her sexy and other sexual remarks then the girls started to tell this man to leave them alone and stop following them and making sexual remarks to them. After that the man’s sister (also in the picture) came around the corner and physically attacked ruby(the older sister) she grabbed her hair dragged her to the floor started to punch her then both the man and woman where kicking her in head while she was on the floor. At this point my daughter (mayah) called the police so my daughters account after that is all abit blurry. But that is when lola had the weapons she pulled them out to protect ruby. After that the man came back at lola recording her making sure she showed the weapons to the camera and antagonising her. Ruby was hospitalised after the attack with a severe concussion a tennis ball sized lump to the back of her head as well as lots of bruises.”…….
