Russia has not changed its goal: drag Ukraine into a new Russian Empire. Moscow has demanded that Ukraine cede territory it already holds and the remainder of Donetsk, which it has been unable to conquer. Zelensky will never do so. Meanwhile, meetings will continue because Trump wants a Nobel Peace Prize, but I don’t see these talks making any progress.

I don’t believe that Russia has “imperial” aspirations on anyone. They spent years trying to negotiate their legitimate national security interests in “Minsk 1” and “Minsk 2,” only to finally be told that it was all a scam. They were staring at an obvious invading Ukranian army on their borders and decided to strike first. At the time, they stated what their objectives were and were not, and they haven’t deviated from that since.
Having seized the military advantage, they have never lost it since. But they still continue to try to minimize Ukranian civilian losses. Yes, they possessed (and, still possess) the capacity to bulldoze Ukraine, but that’s not their goal. They are inexorably grinding down the resistance to achieve: “demilitarize and deNazify.” (And by the way: those Nazis are real.)
A couple things. While some of their concerns are valid others are kind of bs.
The AFU was not going to invade Russia they were going to invade essentially a rebelling part of their country that was militarily backed by the Russians. Not dissimilar to the union and confederacy fighting in the civil war.
The Nazis are a radical and gross aspect of Ukraine that should be eliminated but they’re very much radical nationalists I don’t think they fit the mold of like Jew/black hating Nazis.
Russia has ramped up deliberate targeting of civilians since Trump took office. The numbers reflect that. I’m not of the mindset that they target playgrounds because that’s idiotic but they’re certainly targeting apartments and buildings that meet the loosest definition of “militarily relevant”

That only works if they’re willing to sit at the table. That’s what I’ve been saying regarding us stance on security guarantees. Whatever they get the Ukrainians to agree on is meant to be negotiated away for both sides benefit. But again that only works if RU and UKR are willing to sit at the table

My personal opinion is that Trump wanted to bring Russia into the family instead of being an adversary and at one time Putin expressed a desire to join NATO. Of course the warmongers made sure that didn’t happen. Then Obama and his merry men went to work and now look where we are.

Imagine creating a video where your enemy murders an innocent bystander, and then passing off that video as a surveillance video of the “murder” scene. It might sound a bit over the top, but you can see what can be (and will be) done with this in the future, as it gets better and better.
Not the point. The point is how will you know what is real and how far will AI push real human creativity by humans out of the mainstream of life? What is the tell here so people will know it’s fake? Children will grow up with this on their devices and will not be able to discern the differences. Reality as we know it could be gone. The whole thing needs to be regulated by laws that demand the AI creations be tagged as such. I’m not one for govt. regulations and a million laws, but this technology unfettered could pretty much take over humanity. Will it be stopped is the question before it gets out of hand.

Been following this for awhile. Video AI has made exponential “improvements” to the point where entire scenes and skits can be created. There is some desync with the mouth movements and dialogue, and it struggles with weird stuff like smoking cigarettes. Still some uncanny valley aspects, but that line is rapidly evaporating.

So when someone sits down to interview a regulator who claims to be undertaking an investigation of COVID mRNA vaccines, or writes an article about “giving the COVID vaccines a good hard look” I would at the very least expect the topic of EUA/PREP Act to be mentioned.
It never is.
Here are some questions to ask a CDC or FDA regulator, or a MAHA enthusiast, if you find yourself talking to one at a cocktail party, or if you are a journalist interviewing them or writing about their activities:
Do you know that the mRNA vaccines on the market and in trials now were all developed under Emergency Use Authorization (EUA)?
Do you know that EUA was intended to rush countermeasures to the battlefield or the site of a CBRN attack and is not part of the drug approval process?
Do you know that COVID mRNA vaccines are covered by the PREP Act, which means no one can be held legally liable for any activity related to their development, manufacture, distribution, administration, or anything else?
Do you know the PREP Act was intended to cover medical countermeasures rushed to the scene of a CBRN emergency – not to a disease outbreak involving billions of civilians? Do you know that it was considered unconstitutional by many lawmakers at the time of its covert and rushed passing?
Do you know that PREP Act and EUA-covered countermeasures do not require any followup if/when safety signals are detected?
Given this information, what do you believe the claims of “safe and effective” for these products are based on?
Given this information, would you agree that the only way to put mRNA products on a legal regulatory pathway is to subject them to the same laws/regulations that govern the development and manufacturing of non-emergency medical products? And that this means they must undergo legally binding regulated clinical trials outside the EUA/PREP Act CBRN emergency framework?
In the mean time, while we’re waiting for the years that it will take such legally regulated trials to take place, do you agree that anyone who wants to get, or is recommended by a healthcare professional or regulatory agency to receive, an mRNA product — including in the context of clinical trials — should be notified of its status as an EUA/PREP Act-covered countermeasure?
Do you believe we are still in a COVID-19 emergency warranting blanket legal protection for all countermeasures until the end of 2029? If not, why do you think the HHS Secretary has failed to end the PREP Act emergency Declaration for COVID?
Will you join the efforts to ask the Secretary to end the emergency and to repeal the PREP Act entirely?

Talk about framing a narrative to suit your argument. He chose the lowest common denominator, red states, knowing full well, it’s the blue cities within those states with the highest crime due to weak/lax law enforcement. For the second time in less than two weeks, Russian oil shipments to Hungary have been suspended following yet another Ukrainian strike on the Druzhba pipeline.
Prior strikes on the Druzhba pipeline network took place on August 13 and August 18, with the last attack having crippled a vital transformer station, which had previously but briefly halted oil flows.
It is certainly nothing new that Ukraine’s intelligence and military is targeting Russian energy infrastructure; however, what is new is President Trump’s surprise reaction:
U.S. President Donald Trump said he got “very angry” after Ukraine damaged a Russian oil pipeline that supplies his friend Viktor Orbán, Hungary’s prime minister.
Trump responded to a note from Orbán, who complained about a Ukrainian drone attack overnight on Aug. 13 hitting the Druzhba oil pipeline, which supplies Hungary, Slovakia and other countries in Central Europe with Russian oil through Ukrainian territory.
“Viktor — I do not like hearing this. I am very angry about it. Tell Slovakia,” Trump wrote according to a letter published online by Orbán’s ruling Fidesz party. “You are my great friend,” the U.S. president added.

Trump might also condemn this newest Friday attack if he’s asked about it by reporters – but there remains something deeply contradictory about the White House stance. Trump just this week in a Truth Social post seemed to say that Ukraine must go on the offensive against Russia if it hopes to achieve a peace deal which benefits Kiev. As the WSJ noted:
By Thursday, he was saying that Kyiv had no chance of winning the war without new attacks on Russia.
“It’s like a great team in sports that has a fantastic defense, but is not allowed to play offense,” Trump posted on social media. “Interesting times ahead!!!”
His turnaround underscored the fading optimism about Trump’s latest push to end the war.
