I have argued for some time that if there is no Russia Gate, there is no war in Ukraine. What they would want you to believe was that it was a war of aggression, when in fact it was retaliation. I think Putin understood that if Western governments were willing to undermine, rig, and destroy one of their own to achieve their goals, they would literally stop at nothing. So he figured war was coming to his doorstep either way, might as bring it to theirs.
