You’re a 19 year old kid. You are critically wounded and dying in the jungle somewhere in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam .
Its November 14, 1965 . LZ (landing zone) X-ray. Your unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense from 100 yards away, that your CO (commanding officer) has ordered the MedEvac helicopters to stop coming in.
You’re lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know you’re not getting out. Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you’ll never see them again. As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.
Then – over the machine gun noise – you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter. You look up to see a Huey coming in. But.. It doesn’t seem real because no MedEvac markings are on it.
Captain Ed Freeman is coming in for you. He’s not MedEvac so it’s not his job, but he heard the radio call and decided he’s flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway.
Even after the MedEvacs were ordered not to come. He’s coming anyway. And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 3 of you at a time on board.
Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses and safety. And, he kept coming back!! 13 more times!! Until all the wounded were out.
No one knew until the mission was over that the Captain had been hit 4 times in the legs and left arm. He took 29 of you and your buddies out that day. Some would not have made it without the Captain and his Huey.
Medal of Honor Recipient, Captain Ed Freeman, United States Army, died at the age of 81, in Boise, Idaho. God bless our vets!
May God rise up more men of great Courage to lead and inspire our future generations of Americans. RIP God’s good and faithful servant. We are eternally indebted to your bravery.

I just finished reading “The Women” by Kristin Hannah. It’s about a group of women nurses in Vietnam. It really brought the war to life for me. I highly recommend it!
We shall see. I’m sure they’ll make a big dent in the crime but it won’t be “eliminated”. For that to even have a chance of happening you need citizens that are legally armed and that is not allowed in DC.

Thanks to our decades of endless war fighting, our country is estimated to have a pool of combat experienced veterans that is at least large as at any other time in our history. That in part helps explain the widespread support for our 2nd amendment and our 400 million privately armed firearms. It also helps explain why AR15 pattern rifles are among the most popular rifles in America.

Dear Treeper Friends
I’ve started this so many times, and can still barely find the words.
I went out to the barn yesterday morning to feed Louisa and May – May had passed away during the night. She had been doing so well after the laminitis emergency, and adjusting to her new diet and meds, we thought we were out of the woods. But, that was not the plan.
As heart broken as I feel, I can only imagine Louisa’s pain, as they have been companions their entire lives: in fact are half sisters. I’ve been sitting with her night and day – she cries when I leave.
I’m sure you understand, I don’t have it in me, can barely see through the tears, and just can’t be here for a while.

Late ’50s as a kid in southeast PA on a trunk line out of Philly, my Dad was stationmaster for the Pennsylvania Railroad
Milkman would leave our milk in an insulated aluminum-clad box on the front porch early in the morning, we’d have it in time for breakfast
Bottling plant nearby and I’d guess it was pasteurized but homogenization hadn’t arrived yet, so the cream would rise to the top of the pint glass bottles with the aluminum foil /paper caps that would be crimped over the wide-mouth bottle tops.
In winter, the insulated box would keep the milk from freezing but the cream at top would freeze where the bottle neck narrowed and thermal inertia was reduced
Mom would scoop out the cream into a bowl and add a dollop of vanilla extract and a dash of sugar
Presto – homemade vanilla ice cream!
By the time I was 11 or 12 we had TV shows like Gilligans Island, Bewitched, Batman, and Hogans Heroes
Man, I grew up in a great time in America

A State Department of Fish and Wildlife sends a letter to a home/landowner asking for permission to access a creek on his property to document the decline in a certain species of unheard of frogs.
The property owners’ response in the second letter is EPIC.
Letter from Dept. Of Fish & Wildlife:
Dear Landowner: WDFWR Staff will be conducting surveys for foothill yellow-legged frogs & other amphibians over the next few months. As part of this research we would like to survey the creek on your property. I am writing this letter to request your permission to access your property. *****************************
RESPONSE FROM LANDOWNERS: Dear Mr. Nemel: Thank you for your inquiry regarding accessing our property to survey for the yellow-legged frog. We may be able to help you out with this matter.
We have divided our 2.26 acres into 75 equal survey units with a draw tag for each unit. Application fees are only $8.00 per unit after you purchase the “Frog Survey License” ($120.00 resident / $180.00 Non-Resident). You will also need to obtain a “Frog Habitat” parking permit ($10.00 per vehicle).
You will also need an “Invasive Species” stamp ($15.00 for the first vehicle and $5.00 for each add’l vehicle) You will also want to register at the Check Station to have your vehicle inspected for Non-native plant life prior to entering our property. There is also a Day Use fee, $5.00 per vehicle.
If you are successful in the Draw you will be notified two weeks in advance so you can make necessary plans and purchase your “Creek Habitat” stamp. ($18.00 Resident / $140.00 Non-Resident).
Survey units open between 8 am. And 3 PM. But you cannot commence survey until 9 am. And must cease all survey activity by 1 PM.
Survey Gear can only include a net with a 2″ diameter made of 100% organic cotton netting with no longer than an 18 in handle, non-weighted and no deeper than 6′ from net frame to bottom of net. Handles can only be made of BPA-free plastics or wooden handles.
After 1 PM. You can use a net with a 3″ diameter if you purchase the “Frog Net Endorsement” ($75.00 Resident / $250 Non-Resident).
Any frogs captured that are released will need to be released with an approved release device back into the environment unharmed.
As of June 1, we are offering draw tags for our “Premium Survey” units and application is again only $8.00 per application. However, all fees can be waived if you can verify “Native Indian Tribal rights and status”.
You will also need to provide evidence of successful completion of “Frog Surveys” and your “Comprehensive Course on Frog Identification, Safe Handling Practices, and Self-Defense Strategies for Frog Attacks.” This course is offered on-line through an accredited program for a nominal fee of $750.00.
Please let us know if we can be of assistance to you. Otherwise, we decline your access to our property but appreciate your inquiry.
