Anecdote: I have some older friends/acquaintances “old New York liberals” who are now in their 80’s. The woman is having trouble moving around, bad knees-hip-back, cognitive problems, etc. and the man has advancing Parkinson’s. When I can I try to help them out with odds & ins.
Without exception these two have CNN running, completely immersed even talking back at the TV with advanced TDS.
I’m not eaves dropping but I’ll hear the woman say; “Why don’t they just kill him! I hate that SOB” or the husband will be talking to me and say something like; “We’ll I guess we’re going to lose Social Security” or “Those poor immigrants” or NAZI hooey from both, so on and so on…
When I talk to these folks or eat with them, we say a prayer before eating, Christian. He’s a Vietnam Vet, when he says the prayer always includes the men & women in service in this country and around the world. The American flag is always flying.
Their backyard was turning into a briar patch, a bramble. So I suggested going up to a local corner picking up a couple “immigrants” and have them clean it out, they flipped out “no-no-no, they might be criminals” my brother and I did it with a friend with a tractor and a dumpster.
My point is, as an avid supporter of our Great American President Donald J Trump, it’s all I can do to keep my cool, but I know these folks away from that idiot-box and their beliefs and politics line up with President Trump.
Sadly, we are at the “save the savable” stage.
We are not going to find middle ground with many of these loons who only want us gone.

Yep, had a similar experience just yesterday.
I ran into an old friend yesterday afternoon.
He is a highly gifted artist ( stunning wood carvings), yet was also a professional soccer player in Europe and N.A.
Sadly he has always had M.H. issues, and “ fights the booze”
He comes from an extremely troubling background..alcoholic parents..one was a Russian immigrant to Canada around 1950.
He is a genuinely decent, tough and dependable individual.
However as we walked through a grocery store together and remarked on ever rising costs.
He seethed rage with venom at “ Trump” and can’t believe none of the crazies in the U.S. has killed him yet.
I stayed neutral and pointed out our own Canadian pitiful excuses as political leaders.
He paused and went blank.
He then asked if I watched what was going on, and replied no, and stated that just takes crazier folks closer to the edge.
I changed the topic to our soccer playing days and he was all smiles.

Yeah, it’s wild. These are otherwise great people, but any thing Trump is bad. The irony is missed on them, me being a President Trump supporter and by extension evil, I’m over there helping these folks, not a “sainted” liberal in sight lending a hand.

My parents are both approaching their 80s. They spend a few months out of the year visiting their home in Spain, another few months at their Hill Country home, and the reat of their time visiting their grand kids and taking random road trips. It feels like they are constantly on the go and doing something fun.
I admire that about them! They have always been role models for me and my husband.
In general, I would steer clear of anyone – especially seniors – who spend their days in front of the television, on their phone, and just mad at the world. That sounds like an awful way to live your golden years!!!
No question about it, never watch the “news” is my policy. Because of their health, they are 90% home bound.
Gorgeous Spain. I love their food! It’s incredible.
They just opened a Spanish restaurant near me that’s actually safe to eat at … for people who can’t tolerate seed oils, they can cook almost everything on the menu with olive oil or in butter, or grill instead of fry. And the chef is amazingly gifted, the food authentically excellent. Would still love to return to Spain at some point.
I was lucky enough to live near an enclave of Spain Spanish & Portuguese from Portugal & Portugal Angola and I loved their Chicken in Cherry wine and or Chicken in Garlic sauce, with a heaping bed of Saffron rice, and bread rolls from Calandra a famous bakery with real butter. You also received a complimentary bowl of homemade soup different each time you went by a well dressed wait staff who were immaculately dressed and courteous. They taught me how to make homemade Sangria.
Very cool, as I’ve also visited Fatima, Portugal. The cooking in both countries is awesome. Was only a teenager on the pilgrimage to Portugal, but they did serve meat cooked in wine, and made a nice potato soup. ….. Wow, you know how to make homemade sangria, having been taught by a native! Now that’s awesome! In Spain, of course the paella valenciana was excellent, and of all things, I loved the fried squid sandwiches! Plus the tortilla espanola and churros y chocolate. Sounds like we had the similar experience of good times, and treasured memories! Now we just need to Make Spain Great Again and Make Portugal Great Again like we’re Making America Great Again! (To stay on topic!) 🙂

Yeah, and then there’s the lady I ran into earlier today. Claims she stopped watching the news a year ago, but boy could she parrot the leftist line about tariffs. When I simply stated an opposing view, suddenly she was “not feeling well” and left the room we were both in. She then had the audacity to go talk to other people out in the hall and apparently expected me to wait and wonder alone in the room for her to come back in …. because she started freaking out again when I came out into the hall to go somewhere else. I did calmly tell her where I was going if she wanted to talk before I left (I’m very open to being on peaceful terms with people I disagree with and made sure she knew there was an opportunity for that), said “Excuse me” as she was blocking my way, and proceeded about my business.
This was someone I considered a potential friend, but if she gets this upset at the mere mention of a difference of opinion, well, at least she knows what I believe in early on and if no friendship comes, we can both move on, and I can do so knowing that at least I tried.
She doesn’t “watch” the news, she gets what she thinks she knows about the news from social media posts.

While the Supreme Court has already ruled against wholesale nationwide injunctions, the continuing Lawfare against all things Trump must again be dealt with by the highest court. Yesterday’s rulings slapping down Boasberg’s intent to criminally charge Administration Officials over deportations is a good start.

In case you missed my movie recommendation, the story of the prophet Jeremiah is on Tubi/Roku/Fawesome. It is part of a movie collection of Bible stories. I plan on watching the rest, but Jeremiah holds a special place for me. My Evangelical Trump-Republican friend believes PDJT is biblical and has been telling me that for a long time. Again, if there were medications out there that could stop this and be treated with (invermectin and hydroxy) then the pharma companies couldn’t push the covid vaccines and make gazillions……….

Rare side effects, easily avoided if monitored in long term use.

Am blessed to have a good local family farm within a reasonable driving distance, a bit closer than Amish Country Ohio, which is also worth the visit … Have visited the family farm twice this summer, am hoping to get back out there again this week. The produce at this farm is excellent quality, the prices are low. Best tasting cucumbers in the world, awesome heirloom tomatoes, nice sweet onions, beautiful squashes, zucchini, and bell peppers, and whenever they put corn out you better get there quick because if you blink you’ll miss it and it will be sold out.

Get those interest and energy rates lowered… so that refinancing of loans may occur…

Yes, but try getting access to those data bases if you are legitimate scientist and truth seeker. HIPAA laws, doncha know protect patient privacy so that real curious scientists can study aggregate data.
But insurance companies now : some of the richest companies in America and parasites of the 4 Trillion dollars of our hard earned health care money — they have free and unrestricted access to all the aggregate health care data.
In order to be better stewards of the health care dollars, doncha know. In order to protect the vulnerable Amercian people from the fraud and abuse of doctors, doncha know.
I’m aware docs arent’ saints, and many deserve to be in jail. But it is a sick system, and certainly not designed anymore to produce excellent physicians, excellent health, or deliver excellent health care.

RESPONSE FROM LANDOWNERS: Dear Mr. Nemel:
Thank you for your inquiry regarding accessing our property to survey for the yellow-legged frog.
We may be able to help you out with this matter. We have divided our 2.26 acres into 75 equal survey units with a draw tag for each unit. Application fees are only $8.00 per unit after you purchase the “Frog Survey License” ($120.00 resident / $180.00 Non-Resident). You will also need to obtain a “Frog Habitat” parking permit ($10.00 per vehicle).
You will also need an “Invasive Species” stamp ($15.00 for the first vehicle and $5.00 for each add’l vehicle) You will also want to register at the Check Station to have your vehicle inspected for Non-native plant life prior to entering our property.
There is also a Day Use fee, $5.00 per vehicle. If you are successful in the Draw you will be notified two weeks in advance so you can make necessary plans and purchase your “Creek Habitat” stamp. ($18.00 Resident / $140.00 Non-Resident). Survey units open between 8 am. And 3 PM. But you cannot commence survey until 9 am. And must cease all survey activity by 1 PM.
Survey Gear can only include a net with a 2″ diameter made of 100% organic cotton netting with no longer than an 18 in handle, non-weighted and no deeper than 6′ from net frame to bottom of net.
Handles can only be made of BPA-free plastics or wooden handles. After 1 PM.
You can use a net with a 3″ diameter if you purchase the “Frog Net Endorsement” ($75.00 Resident / $250 Non-Resident).
Any frogs captured that are released will need to be released with an approved release device back into the environment unharmed.
As of June 1, we are offering draw tags for our “Premium Survey” units and application is again only $8.00 per application.
However, all fees can be waived if you can verify “Native Indian Tribal rights and status”.
You will also need to provide evidence of successful completion of “Frog Surveys” and your “Comprehensive Course on Frog Identification, Safe Handling Practices, and Self-Defense Strategies for Frog Attacks.” This course is offered on-line through an accredited program for a nominal fee of $750.00.

Comments about older folks about 75-80 and major TDS hooked on CNN. To consider, someone 75 this year (2025), born 1950, was 19 in 1969 (Woodstock) and 17 in the “summer of love”, 1967. They are the first of the baby boomers right after WWII. Probably the first kids left alone in front of TV, fathers done with war, war is over, perhaps “I’ve done my duty. I’m taking it easy for a bit.” Maybe first of 2 parents working. The first latch key kids. The country in 1950 had had 20 years from Depression thru war (an entire generation of upheaval). Those greatest generation parents maybe just tired. Alot of baby boomers could be called the first lost generation.
Just my rambling musings here. My dad was born in 1937. His oldest brother born I think 1934 maybe. His brother’s son and daughter (daughter now dead) were both flaming liberals (teens during the 1960s). His son (about 70 or so) lives in Hawaii. Total all in liberal.
More ramble here. So the Hawaii cousin and I had an email discussion. He was complaining about West Virginia all into coal and of course, climate. Just so happens, West Virginia has 1,000th the number of citizens as China. 1.8 million to 1.4 billion. I told him, for every 1 West Virginian, there are 1,000 Chinese and they use huge amounts of coal and you are worried about little ole West Virginia? To keep on the topic of climate (for his sake), I said it’s like the entire city block is on fire and you are focused on the office small trash can fire on the corner. His reply, don’t get me started on China. I said well everyone should be concerned about China before whining about West Virginia. Conversation didn’t go much further after that.
Mid-70’s Baby Boomer here: never liked rock-‘n’-roll much: in 1969 I went to a performance of the opera Salome by Richard Strauss, and not the filthy “concert” of Woodstock.
My friends and I were not put in front of Television sets: we were out and about on bicycles riding all over a certain Ohio city with hills to escape the smoke from our parents mouths.
Only two or three stations anyway, and much of it was of no interest, just like today. There were no “latchkey kids” anywhere in our experience. Mothers were still at home, until maybe the 70’s, when the crappy Nixon-Ford-Carter economy hit due to the Oil Crisis.
Keep in mind that the leaders of the Communist riots in the ’60’s tended to be of the Marlon Brando generation, they were truly The Lost Generation. Jerry Rubin, Bernadine Dohrn, et al. were born in the 1930’s or very early 1940’s and were not “Baby Boomers.”
