Well . . . actually for what it’s worth . . . this was a time I was quite wisely discovering that I didn’t like altering my state of consciousness. That revelation/life epiphany was a life changing event. And to do that smack dab the middle of Austin’s burgeoning drug culture . . . ???
I, and I’m sure all of us, had good friends back in the day that got waaayy too carried away in the drug scene. Some lucky to straighten themselves out, and others unfortunately who succumbed.
These days I am happy to kick back on my rare nights off from work with a cold beer or 3 and lose myself in some good music, watch some good movies and/or hang out with some good friends, feeling lucky to have escaped and survived my youth and hopefully got a little more wise along the way.

I spent way too much money in bars in my 20’s, friend succumbed to alcoholism & most in the mechanic business were “functional alcoholics” anyway. I certainly could not hit the bar for “lunch” & have six beers & go back to work like more than half of the shop was doing.
Now, at least I am paid pretty well to be IN the bar for the entertainment as like tonight. Not sure but I think I am in a positive position on money spent in bars as to how much I have made from bars in the last 10 years. Not that I really ever counted how much I spent, sigh, some of those bars had some great food tho.
Yesteryear. I’m lucky I stay up past 730pm anymore. Lol
I spend most nights here at work in the hospital, upstairs from the Emergency Room, where I am lucky that my youthful indulgences didn’t lead me to. Or worse !!

Israel Update:
The Israeli War Cabinet decided to occupy all of Gaza. What does it mean? Why? How?
It may be the only way to defeat Hamas. They are not surrendering to being encircled when they have food and international support. Israel realized that they don’t want to give hostages for any reasonable exchange. Trump realized too.
It means that the IDF will have to enter and occupy also areas which were not touched because of hostages.
It means that the population in North and central Gaza will have to move south to humanitarian areas.
Trump in coordination with Israel agreed together to form some 16 aid distribution centers in the model of the four centers that are operated by an American company.
The humanitarian areas will be in various areas. I doubt that only in the South. The idea is to flood Gaza with aid and deny Hamas of power over aid. That is their financial life line.
It will take time to prepare. Expect the worst ever International attacks and pressures. Realize that this plan is to actually put an end to Hamas. The Satanic Qatar will pull to use all its tricks. They will try to lie again and talk about “Hamas may agree to a deal if you freeze for the negotiations”. They will flood money to smear campaigns. Demonstrations, etc…
Hamas will use its last tools – The Hostages. They will threaten to execute hostages and may do so.
They are playing on the rift in the Israeli society. I expect demonstrations in Israel. Hamas/Qatar have already stated in response that this is “politics of Bibi to stay in power”. This will be echoed by the Israeli left.
There will be calls in Israel to not report to duty. The Israeli left is no better than any left. Even worse.
But, Trump is with Israel. He wants Hamas gone and to move forward with peace deals, etc…
He is helping with the 16 distribution centers.
The IDF will start with encircling Gaza City (There is Gaza Strip and there is Gaza City).
Gaza City is the symbol of Gaza. When it falls it represents the fall of Gaza Strip. It may have a hostage or two but most of the hostages are in Central Gaza. Once the city falls it will be a time gap that Hamas will be able to surrender and give the hostages or the IDF will go to the remaining areas in Central Gaza and it will be a standoff with the hostages there. The last area that will be surrounded and under siege.
The plan is not great but we don’t see another option.
The Chief of Staff opposed it. I hope that he will change his mind but he may become a problem and resign. He thinks that the plan is endangering the hostages too much and soldiers will die and the military is worn out and occupying all of Gaza requires large forces again. His option was to do more of the same, taking more percentages of Gaza but no complete conquest. He better get in line. He could sabotage the plan before it happens but I doubt that he will. He can be fired.
I hope that Trump will stop being a buddy of Qatar. Israel must handle the leadership in Qatar in order to get the job done.
We are heading to a very difficult period if you thought that it wasn’t difficult so far.
Things are going to blow up internally and Internationally. It is a rule of life that when one tries to put order on an area, confusion will blow off. All weaknesses magnify. One must continue and things work out eventually. We may face executions of hostages. They know our weaknesses. They will try to deepen the internal rift in Israel. But I am sure that the majority want to defeat Hamas and are fed up with the games. But the minority are the louder crowd and the financed crowd.
Bibi is bypassing the Chief of Staff.
Israel is not intending to rule Gaza. Looking for an Arab force that will agree to co-exist and will rule there.

Yesterday I took the old pickup to Menards and loaded up 10 bags of river rock and bought a few parts for down spout drain lines and a new defuser head.
When I installed the line that drains the gutter coming off the NW corner of the garage overhang I screwed up. I put in a length of the plastic drain line that was perferated when I intended to use nonperforated. Easy to do when the tubing is collapsed and I don’t know how I missed it when I stretched it out to install it.
Anyway Sherry and I dug it up yesterday and I replaced that piece and one other. I glued the joints with flex glue to ensure there would be no leaks and they would not come apart.
This morning, while it’s cooler and we have the shade of the house blocking the sun we’ll bury it. Then lay down 10 mil plastic along the edge of the overhang slab and the new walk and fill those low areas with river rock.
The plastic along the edge of the slab will stop the water from undermining it I hope.
So that’s the project for today.

Back in 1977 when Star Wars came out I was going to IU and dating a girl from Normal, IL. We came to my home one weekend and went out for dinner and a movie with my Mom & Dad. She wanted to to watch Liza Minnelli in the move New York, New York. Now usually I would have gone along with that even though I knew I would hate the movie. I mean I really like the girl.
But I was sure the Star Wars was a breakthrough movie that was one for the ages and I put my foot down politely and we saw Star Wars and told her that Star Wars would be remembered long after the movie she wanted to watch was forgotten.. But really! Who could have known the legacy of that movie. Here I am 70 y/o and they’re still producing spinoffs.

(11-22) “Let young persons set out in life with learning the fear of the Lord, if they desire true comfort here, and eternal happiness hereafter. Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. The Fear of the Lord – is not fear at all;

The Friday offering follows.
Here in the East of Scotland the combine harvesters are going 26 hours a day cutting the corn.
However there is another harvest which most of modern man neither knows or cares about.
I speak of the free bounty which our Creator has provided – the wild fruits in the hedgerows,.
The Blackberry season is here!.
The ubiquitous briars or brambles are now covered in juicy berries, and this (very) old country boy is taking advantage.
My favourite use is bruised up via the back of a fork, with a dash of sweetener, with a generous dollop of single cream or yogurt in a large bowl for breakfast – very little carbs there!
This little ditty I wrote as tribute to Gods free larder. It is a very poor effort when compared to the great late Seamus Heaney’s offering :
Blackberries.
FRUITS de FORET
Brambling along country lanes
Picking mother natures wares,
A Harvest – deo gratis
Ahead of mice and grisly bears;
Every fruit crowned with thorns
Not much gain without pain,
Stinging nettles and ‘jaggies’
Soon succumbed to autumn rain.
Time and effort rewarded
This is my gourmands dream,
When I break fast tomorrow
On succulents and fresh cream;
Its out there for all to share

My small addition: Once, when the timing was right, we camped overnight where blackberries were ripe … along the perimeter of the park. Doc and our Labrador went picking. ‘Twas hilarious to watch them both dodge the thorns to get the berries. Maybe the dog’s long snout gave her an edge – ha ha
I think our sweet tooths leaned more to a dollop of cream than yogurt – tho, variety is the spice of life (so they say)

Good morning Patrick. Thank you for the poem. It brought back memories of when I lived in the mountains of Arizona known as “The Mogollon Rim”. We would go up to 7000 ft. elevation,(we lived at 6500 ft.) and pick the blackberries when they were in season. The bushes were over 6 feet tall and full of the biggest berries I’ve ever seen, and the most delicious I have ever eaten.
You never went alone because of the bears, mountain lions and snakes, and always carried protection. The only wild creature I saw most of the time was a very large Bull Elk and his harem of cows and calves. They were breathtaking to watch. They were not a bit concerned about us humans intruding. They just glanced at us and went on their merry way. The bull, I swear, was counting his cows and then he would again go up ahead of them to check if their way was safe.

Lol! Driving a big truck a couple with a poorly secured mattress on top of their Volvo station wagon passed me on an hilly part of an interstate.
Sure enough I came around a blind curve and there they were on the shoulder on the inside of the curve trying to fix their crappy tie downs.
Couldn’t get over and I blew their shorts off going by. There was an exit ramp only a 1/4 mile up the road where they could have delt with it safely.
They passed me later and the wife gave me a dirty look. I just shook my head and thought “gotta be dumbass democrats”,

Genesis 11:6 the lord said, behold the people are one and they have all one language and this they began to do now nothing will be withheld from them which they have imagined to do.
This vs. always left me with many questions and still does but I see our world today and the ones who control us all. I see how they get bored with what we struggle for because they have no struggle so they venture into mischief. It brings us catastrophe just as in genesis.
The manual over again states “get wisdom get understanding they are more precious than gold or silver”. A direct correlation to physical wealth. Get wisdom before you get riches because the mistakes we are capable of are enormous when we are without responsibility to our brothers and world. Now we see “men” embracing evil and the history of that shows.
You can never exhaust your ideas when you purpose to elevate others in righteous or positive ways. Your resources and energy increase as your purpose is made clear. You refine who and what you are in giving selflessly. You cannot exhaust God and that is who channels through us when we give without expecting to get. Opposite of that is the selfish desire to gain or receive which leaves a human empty and without form, void. It’s what we see with the wealthy, bored and trying to hide their responsibility to mankind.
“sell all you have and give to the poor…..and follow me.” Matthew 19:21 Tell that to a billionaire, I can imagine the response. That’s why it is so dangerous to be wealthy without Gods purpose as our loves.

The probe is focused on whether James’ office used its authority to violate Trump’s legal rights through its civil lawsuits against the president and his businesses. The investigation is also looking at whether the NRA had it’s rights violated by her civil suits. Also of note, James retained Abe Lowell as counsel.
