Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

They Tricked This Man Into Taking Them In
The Bird Got Stuck #dog #dogs #dogshorts #trending
What a pretty bird. Cool story. Thanks for the video.
Yep!!! ❤️ 🐈
Absolutely adorable and a kindhearted man. I’m not a cat person but had a stray drop 6 on my front porch out of fear they’d get eaten. Tiny babies, let Mama and her kittens in and proceeded to find homes as soon as they were old enough.
Good morning nim. Ha, reminds me of my house at the moment. Seven kittens and mama cat running around creating havoc! Have a blessed and wonderful day.
Nim,
Sent you a coffee this am – some thief stole it from the ether!
So……..this looks refreshing!
Hah. I sent this link to my son & daughter in law. They have 12 or 13 cats inside their home and 2 or 3 strays that they feed daily. About 5 of the inside cats were theirs for many years after adopting them as kittens, but the other 7 or 8 are cats they adopted in the past 2 years as very young kittens; two consecutive litters from a stray momma who hangs around their and a few neighbors’ houses and that they still feed and have caught & taken to the vet once to get a rabies shot & spayed (after the 2nd litter).
They have a history with cats: daughter in aw had cats when she was single. After they married they moved to Iceland while our son was stationed there with the USN. They adopted a stray ktten there and brought her back home when he was assigned to Ft. Meade in MD. That little brindle-colored female cat lived to be 22 !
GB, thank you for a great story. 22 years is really a long time for a cat. Your son and daughter in law sound like very loving and giving people. Bless them for caring for the neglected and thrown away cats and kittens.
Your story brought me a big smile this afternoon. Have a very blessed weekend.
Howdy, Garrison and Tink 😘😽 Well, I’m up…so I might as well get this CATURDAY started…
Here’s an unhappy chappie. Let’s see if we can turn his frown upside down!!
And now for a little culture…
“Love of Three Oranges”
“I’m ready for my close up, Mr DeMille.”
This may be my fave this week!! 😍
For dear Pat…to go with the stunning scratching post heels I left a couple of weeks ago 😽
And now for a little geography lesson…
Ha, good morning Betsy. Thank you for your research into things that will make life easier for me with the kittens. These definitely would help, although lately they haven’t been trying to climb my legs.
Now I must hide my tissue boxes in drawers or I will find torn tissues everywhere in the morning, along with anything else not hidden or tied down! At the moment they are sleeping from their morning “tear” around the house after eating! I wish I had their energy.
Your Caturday images are just wonderful, as always. Brings smiles every Saturday. Your effort to provide, is so greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I really don’t have much new to post about “kitten central”. They are growing fast and wrecking havoc around the house. Beau most of the time just wants to find a quiet place to sleep so they leave his tail and ears alone! Ha Ha, poor boy hasn’t decided whether he want’s them here permanently or wants them gone.
I am still diligently trying to figure out how to move photos from my phone to the computer. I’m hoping I can get some images up for my Treeper friends one of these days.
I am praying you have a most blessed and wonderful day Betsy.
Mornin’ Pat
Coffee?
Good afternoon Soaz. Why thank you for the coffee that has been duly inspected and approved by the burro. Would love to kiss that soft, velvety muzzle! Have a most blessed day.
This IS an update, Pat, and it sounds as if things are settling down, thank goodness…phew!!! Hoping your war wounds are healing nicely. Poor Beau, bless his loving and patient heart….
I suppose your home to the teens is just an amusement park. What fun thing to disturb, wreck, or tear to shreds next? Now that the tissues are locked away, I’m sure you’re preemptorily scanning the horizon. Just when you think you’re safe. But the troops must have their entertainment 😸 I mean, know your place, girl!!! 😎😎
I also wish you a blessed day, sis. Stay cool, temperature-wise…and otherwise 😘
Yes, I am scanning and will probably find something tomorrow AM to pick up. I get my much needed exercise picking up after the teens. My war wounds are healing nicely although I am wearing long skirts or dresses to church until such time as they aren’t so horrid looking!
I will let Beau into the bedroom to get some peace a few times a day, as I keep the bedrooms off limits to the kittens and mama for the time being. Eventually they will have access to them.
The guest bathroom has been closed off as one morning a whole roll of toilet paper was torn to shreds! Also the rug showed evidence of being a wonderful toy for the kittens!
I can not get angry with them, I just laugh and get on with my life. They are bringing me lots of laughs, joy and even companionship when they decide to replenish their batteries, and sit on my lap or shoulders. Fun times are being had by all, except maybe poor Beau.
A house with that much unpredictable life in it is a wonderful thing. Ours in Wales was like that, and we miss it dreadfully. Idyllic in every way. Doesn’t seem that long ago when it was Cleo all by her lonesome. You were definitely chosen, as is right and proper with cats.
Here’s a suggestion. It doesn’t have to be anyone’s birthday, although bending over to retrieve and reset might be a bit off putting…this is an oldie but it always makes me laugh 😂 Think about it 😉😎
Thank you for that, Ms. Betsy! I have a birthday coming up and this is purr-fect for it.
Wonderful!! I wish you a lovely birthday in anticipation of your next trip around the sun 💕
That is beautiful!
Morning, Anon ☕💕
Ooops…Afternoon!! Already!! Zoom, Zoom!
I expect so 😼

Morning, Miss P 💕☕…
Never come empty handed, which she certainly has not!!
Lovely. Just lovely 😍😊
Hey Patience Beautiful 🙂 🙂
Good day to you, jay ❣️
✝️❤️🇺🇸
I did not know that !
The things you learn here, nim 😁
But one thing we’ve always known…there is never a shortage of warrior kittens. They come with their own weapons you know 😼👍🏻
Oh, I thought nim was talking about “Never come empty handed”.
Mistake. Everybody makes mistakes.
EVERYBODY!!! 👍🏻💕
That’s an old saying from the South, nim.

Morning, rah 😽 Hahahahahaaaaa!!! Oh for that much energy!!
And thanks for that because you reminded me I’d saved a small video I’d forgotten about!
Cat people, you will absolutely LOVE this!! 😻
OMG. Must provide warnings to cat-a-holics that they will be tempted beyond any ability to resist….
😸
No kidding, GB 😂 A yearly, well attended event apparently. I’ve never seen so many sanguine, docile cats in my entire life!
Apparently and unsurprisingly those cats are all well-socialized with people…. 😻
Apparently they lock up all the dogs on that day!
And now, Ima outta here!!l 😽
…But one final, beautiful reminder for all my beloved friends in the best leafy home we could imagine 🙏🏻💕
Moghrey Mie Betsy and as always Dia Duit 🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸

Have a good day , Lady💞
T & T – Always!
Mine, too, Corny…if I accidentally catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror that is 😉
Otherwise I wouldn’t know 😎
If I do, I say, “hi Mom!”
Morning, Corny 😘 We added an hour this morning which at 7 is late for us. I’m glad sleep eluded me last night so I could start that ole caravan in peace and quiet…
And while I was herding this week’s collection, I was overcome by a sense of such happiness in being able to do so. Now the cupboard is bare, but I know somehow by next week it will be full again.
Love your additions!! Especially the last one for some reason 💕 The first is all too true, which is why I let no one see me before the inaugural cup ☕😂
Dearest Bets,
I have no doubt whatsoever that the Good Lord is, as we speak, refilling your “kitty meme” larder for the Treehouse to enjoy! ❤️
I have often wondered…and decided it is so 🙏🏻😘
Let’s go!!!
Dia Duit woo🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸
Blessed day to you, jay 1776!!! Nice to see you brother!
Mornin’ Woo
Hope you still want coffee.
Burro lady,
Would always share a cuppa with you, my dear friend. I ended up going back to sleep this morning, as I didn’t sleep much last night. Now, I’m endeavoring a herculean effort at my own small earth patch per my story below.
Didn’t have any coffee, alas, today – but I’m thinking I will brew up some old southern fashioned sweet tea to keep the motor running today. I use a combo of brown and white sugar in mine with some sliced oranges for flavor.
Need to consider dinner, but it may be a pressure cooker day since we are in upheaval. Or maybe we eat out because we need the break from being cooped up at home. Kiddo worked 60 hours this week and didn’t complain one wit. She loves it. So I want to bless her with good meals to keep her energy up.
She works nights and sleeps days – so doesn’t get enough sunshine. Tomorrow we will take a day breather and go to the State Fair. Go early in the morning when the sights and smells are alive and the parking is easy. She wants to ride all the rides. LOL
Blessed morning, Betsy!
I say three scriptures over and over in my mind as I “suit up” and match forward.
“I can do all things through Christ Who Strengthens me.”
“He Works all things for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His Purpose.”
“He Will Never leave me or forsake me.”
Over and again. I am that cat, but with a hairbrush and a lip shimmer.
I can smile and have all confidence that God Is Alive in my soul. Everybody can.
Now, pass that coffee carafe! Lol
Oh, three of my favorites, Woo!
Morning, Jonrilus 💕☕ Ditto, my friend 😌
They are easy to remember… and easy to say over and over. They make a HUGE difference on the outcomes of my days. I highly recommend that burying scripture in heart and mind and it carries one through the hardest things.
Hugs to you my big musical brother. What songs are you playing today?
Morning, Woo and Savannah 😘☕ All a part of the Armour, sis. Onward, Christian soldier!! 🙏🏻
Just so you know, I always keep you in my prayers…hairbrush, lip shimmer and all. You are a beautiful soul, especially in the eyes of God.
Preparing the coffee now. Can’t send you out there uncaffeinated!! 🤗
(HUGS) to you, Chris, and your dear family. You are all in our prayers too. Think of you very often even when you are hither and yon.
Morning JWoo!
God morning, GrandpaM!!!!! Hope you and your beautiful bride, Elizabeth, are doing quite well and the extended family is remaining safe and blessed.
Mornin’ dear Bet. We both send you a good morning purr, love. Going for a BBQ lunch with my car buddies in a little bit. Haven’t seen them in awhile so I’m really looking forward to seeing them again. 🙂
Mmmmmmmm…..BBQ!!! I know you’re looking forward to the outing. I hope you have the most splendid time, dear Garrison, and that the lunch stretches out longer than they normally do. Friends and conversation…an unbeatable combination 💕
Mornin’ Dear Garrison
Coffee will definitely not suffice for barbecue with the buds, so:
Ohhhh yummm… can I have a flight of margaritas?
My favorite now is a Tamirind flavored margarita with a lip of Tajin. sigh… you’re enticing me to our mexican restaurant for their la cocina. Mi cocina is in disarray!
Wahoooo!!!! Get your motors runnin’ head out on the highway! Looking for adventure in whatever comes your way! Big hugs to you and safe travels and joy. Big cuddles to Tink and purr purr to her from our pawfia.
Thank you for your kind words, dear ‘Woo. Just getting back on the branch after a long day . . . 🙂
Howdy Garrison 🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸
Howdy friend jay . . . 🙂
😎thank you, my man Garrison

You are most welcome, dear Patience 🙂
Beavers, y’all
They Released Beavers Into a Wasteland… Then This Happened | Watch
Thank you nim for this video. I love learning new nature information. This was very educational.
I was fortunate to have a pair of beavers build a dam to create a pond where there was a runoff down a crop of rocks when we had a lot of rain on my back pasture area. It was fascinating to watch them build it. Once their dam was completed, the large pond was one of the prettiest areas on the ranch and it brought back deer and other wildlife, including bobcats and an occasional mountain lion.

I Am Resolved –
A Cappella Hymn
Lyrics – Palmer Harsough (1896)
Music – James H. Filmore (1896)
Nice! I was unfamiliar with this.
Standing On The Promises –
A Cappella Hymn
Lyrics & Music – R. Kelso Carter (1886)
❤️
There was a church we attended that was throwing away their old hymnals for new ones. I was able to grab and keep one. Very cherished.
This brings up a bone I would like to pick. We all sang those beautiful old hymns for many years, right? They are poetic, reverent, and melodic works of art, designed to stir our human emotions and guide us in the glorification of God. What happened? Now we get “music” projected on a screen that sounds like it was written by a third-grader. I might be an old dinosaur but I can’t see where this stuff appeals to anybody. Am I alone?
We call the songs of which you speak “7/11 songs”. You sing seven words eleven times. I cannot stand them either.
Those wonderful old hymns were Scripture based, Christ-centered and God glorifying.
Today it’s mostly “I-I-I-me-me-me”
I don’t even recognize music of the 00’s as music.
Unless the newer Christian artists… like Phil Wickham.
Music… like television… like theatrical art… their breadth has narrowed deeply and there is no longer “something for everyone”
As the 12 Steps people say, “Take what you like and leave the rest.”
You are definitely not alone!! That awful stuff that they are trying to force on us in absolutely terrible. I agree with Intense – “7/11” songs, only I think they sing those 7 words at least 20 times.
LOL
Kybeagle,
Depends upon how and when you were raised and how your Spirit is led. I’m 52 years old, raised in Central Indiana until 17, then traveled alone. Mostly west coast and 8 years in Texas. Mom died when I was 9, and my military police father raised me from 8 to about 15 when things went off the rails. He had no experience with children at all… and was reeling from his own mourning, sadness, and anger… so I was really alone!
Music was everywhere for me. I couldn’t freely express myself as a child, so I sang! Carnegie Hall with my small group in 1989 with composer John Rutter.
My reach as far as important music to me is very eclectic and for quite different reasons.
I was born Roman Catholic but my faith was not there. It was in a Southern Baptist church plant in San Antonio, Texas. That’s where I chose as an adult of my own accord to follow Christ.
Depends on the day, the moment, the challenge… and I am moved in the Spirit. It could be:
“It Is Well With My Soul” written by the father of shipwrecked daughters.
It could be:
“I Could Only Imagine” written by a man whose mother abandoned him to live with a deeply troubled, physically abusive father, who turned from wickedness late in life, found Jesus, and forgiveness into the father/ son bond he had so deeply longed for his entire life… only to see a late life conversion.. and a too short relationship blossom.
It could be “Finally Home”… when that same man that wrote Imagine… see his Heavenly Father and finishes his race here on earthand is finally eternally home after his long rugged race is won and He’s in The Presence of God.
Music, words, beats, strings, drums, percussion, trumpets, guitars, a capella…. in each one finds ways to communicate what one can’t utter into words.
I’ve “lived” a lot in 52 years and my taste in music may be challenging to you to understand but each genre speaks to a point in my time of great and impactful growth. Whether its the old hymnals that I love, Stone Temple Pilots, George Strait, MercyMe, or Chris Tomlin. Depends on what I want to say…. and what topples my Spirit like a ton of bricks in the moment.
I’m so grateful for the diversity of music in my generation.. how few sounded alike and one could almost pin the lyrics to the poet.
I believe many churches, from my experience at having attended many of them… have lost their way and don’t teach enough the gifts of The Holy Spirit Who God Uses to bestow holy gifting on His People. That Holy Spirit is our umbilical cord to God and He Is Who communicates for us when we can’t put prayers into words. God Knows.
Music has been used for generations to communicate worship, love, anger, longing, and acceptance. One must only define Who one is worshipping therein.
So in my humble opinion… use whatever is needed to draw closer to God.
Romans 8:28. “All things” work for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His Purpose.
I Can Only Imagine
It Is Well With My Soul
Finally Home
I fail to understand why seemingly all the church leaders have fallen for this failing music. They want a revival? Revive the old tried and true music. How can they not see? (Hear?)
My dear friend, Kookooracharabioso –
Those spiritual leaders of those churches are falling apart. They are trapped between being the peaceful observers and the paratroopers of old Biblical war and battle. Most turned into eunichs to “go along to get along” as is defined in the book of Revelations by the Nicolaitan church. They sold their souls to deviate from doctrine to “get along with society” when God calls us to dig in and stand by and on His Word and trust Him with the results.
Super hard to find a true Bible preaching preacher nowadays. We are tasked with our own study of The Word to learn discernment.
It’s amazing the freedom we inherit when we stand on the Promises and Teaching of God.
Not at all. The old music lyrics told a story, contained lessons and reminders and was pleasurable to sing along to. The new music lyrics are meaningless and you can mess up the words any which way and still come out OK except it’s meaningless. Quality of music? They take some contemporary popular sound and attach it with zero integrity just to catch your attention but there’s nothing there worth keeping. It just makes me want to vomit literally. I think it’s spiritual poison. I hear this music and hit the door.
It’s is also “trance” invoking. Sadly.
“What happened?”
Pretty much the same thing that happened across much of the pop music industry – these cultural institutions were taken over by anti-Christ forces who deliberately introduced music and lyrics that did NOT inspire or appeal to the decent & moral nature or the Holy Spirit within us.
Organized religion in the U.S. has deteriorated into promoting entertainment at worship services and promoting “churchianity” over Christianity. The transition away from God/Christ has been gradual over the past 60 years but nonetheless the “powers that be” have progressed away from doctrine-based & focused worship and study .
The tuneless and uninspired lyrics that you describe is the product of this Satanically-guided transition away from true worship of our Triune God.
In my church, we grew up singing this old standard.
With fewer and fewer people trusting churches anymore to teach the full Word of Christ and to live thereof and therein… suppression of the old hymns of worship has compounded.
Can’t wait until we get to The Throne Room of Revelation to hear the angels sing!
You have an interesting story, JWoo. “Trust but verify” as President Reagan used to say.
Blessed Assurance –
A Cappella Hymn
Lyrics – Fanny J. Crosby (1873)
This is a wonderful, wonderful old song! Love it.
Cactus
Nothing better than a capella! And this one is, dare I say, jaunty. I’ve had it in my head all morning. ❤️
Soaz, yes there is nothing better. I grew up singing a capella hymns and other songs. To this day, I will go around the house singing without music. My voice is not what it used to be, but the critters here at home don’t mind.
Used to be soprano when I sang in choir or chorale, (know Handel’s Hallelujah chorus soprano part by heart, as we sang it many, many times), but now most times I sound almost like a man’s bass voice! Sometimes I can manage alto, so am relearning the Hallelujah chorus alto part now.
Singing was and still is one of my favorite things to do, especially in church when we sing to praise and worship the Lord.
Good afternoon Cactus. Thank you, this was my mothers favorite hymn. I would sing it to her quite a bit as she aged. She lived to be almost 93 when she went home to God. I took care of both my parents for over 20 years. It was a privilege and blessing to be able to do it. Thanks for the wonderful memories
this hymn and the others have brought me. Have a very blessed weekend.
I Love To Tell The Story –
A Cappella Hymn
Lyrics – Catherine Hankey (1866)
Music – William G. Fischer (1869)
Wow, Catcus. You must be a least part Primitive Baptist. I grew up in that culture. Memories of my daddy singing Amazing Grace A Cappella.
Grandma had a piano in the living room but there are no musical instruments allowed in the church. And don’t ask about the difference. Grandma didn’t even try to explain that to me. As Grandma always said, “If you run up on something you don’t understand, just get along with it the best you can.” And as my brother tells me, “Don’t be asking all them questions. If somebody wants you to know something they will tell you.”
Go there if you do not believe me. Crooked Creek Primitive Baptist Church. It’s in North Carolina. We usually meet on the 1st Sunday each month. Many in my family are buried there. Including Civil Was dead. Hats and gloves, ladies. But no flowers. They’re proud.
Yesterday my brother said, “You need to come on home. Nobody will make you go to church. My daddy said that I moved as far away from them as I could get. 😉 LOL
Addendum: I agree with Sundance’s philosophy: “Start asking the right f*cking questions.”
I grew up attending an old German immigrant-founded E & R (Evangelische und Reformierte) church which later joined the UCC (United Church of Christ), located in west Baltimore City. Some of my paternal ancestors founded that church in 1865. As a teen I later transferred to a regular LCA (Lutheran Church in America) church in the county outside of the city; about a mile from our house. This hymn was quite popular in both churches.
Way to go, GB! Eclectic taste in both music and denominations.
Did you hear the one about the guy who said his religion was Lutheran, Presbyterian, Catholic, Assembly of God, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pentecostal, etc., etc., etc., etc., …
When asked why so many churches. He said, “Well, if one of them is wrong I have the others to fall back on.”
Actually there’s nothing eclectic at all about those particular denominations of Christian churches. They all derive from the old German protestant church as begun by Martin Luther in the 15th century.
Like all denominations, differences of opinion in some aspects of Lutheran doctrine and liturgy brought about splits and new denominations.
Some Lutheran and some Reformed churches were united by Frederick William III to form what was called the Evangelical Church. German immigrants to the USA’s Midwest in the mid 19th century named their churches Evangelical…and eventually formed the Evangelical Synod, and in the mid 20th century most of them became the United Church of Christ.
I don’t know much of why that evolution occurred, but my limited experience was that not much changed in the liturgy or basic doctrine as followed by the clergy.
The Primitive Baptist came from a Calvinist background. Ask me how I know? I’m a workaholic. And when I state a doctorial belief the Bishops/Priest/Preacher/Teachers all say something like: Thank you, Calvin.
Calvinist have that “total depravity” working for them which is, I believe, diametrically opposed to the Lutheran’s “the just shall live by faith aka Sola Fide“.
P.S. My Mormon friends don’t like the Baptist much (at all). 😉
I don’t know much about modern day Lutherans except that they appear to have forgotten or ignored some very basic tenets of Christian doctrine that the Father and The Son established from the beginnings of man on earth.
As such I left the organized Protestant church 4 decades ago and 6 years ago began studying doctrine under the guidance of the pastor of an independent unaffiliated Bible Church. Best thing I’ve ever done regarding my faith.
Thank you Cactus. Love this song. I have it on a cd, I listen to it all the time.

Alexander Graham Bell
(1847-1922)
Scottish-born British-American inventor (telephone), dies of diabetes complications at 75
Biography: Alexander Graham Bell was a Scottish-born inventor, known for having patented the first telephone and for co-founding the American Telephone and Telegraphy Company (AT&T) in 1885.
Bell was inspired to work in hearing and speech by his family’s work in the field, and the fact that his mother and wife were both deaf. It was research on hearing devices that led to the invention which would come to be known as the telephone, which he patented in 1876.
His work built upon the work of Hermann von Helmholtz, who had managed to convey vowel sounds by use of a tuning fork contraption. Bell figured that this implied the possibility of communicating articulate speech.
Bell’s major break came after his use of a phonautograph, which drew the shape of sound waves on smoked glass by tracing their vibrations. He then devised a way of converting this motion to variations in electrical current which could then, at the receiving end, be converted back into sound.
Everyone knows the name Wild Bill Hickock but I bet very few remember the name of the punk that shot him in the back thinking it would make him famous.
Oh yeah, that’s where they get that “aces and eights” thing.
And education in America has never been the same since. But there’s no doubting Mann’s influence on the course of this country.

. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.
The Jesus Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me, a sinner.
Amen!
Prayer of Saint Ioannikios the Great of Bithynia (+ 846)
My hope is the Father, my refuge the Son, my protection the Holy Spirit. O Holy Trinity, glory to Thee.
From Small Compline
Rejoice, Virgin Theotokos, Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, for thou hast borne the Savior of our souls. (Thrice)
Thanks, Sepp! You have some good thoughts. I steal it from you.

Feast Day
A kinda long story:
My real father was killed while my Mom was carrying me. She remarried. But the man she remarried had been drafted. Mom and I stayed with her parents in Elwood, IN while Dad went through his training.
After Basic and AIT to be a commo man at Ft. Leonard Wood Dad opted to go Airborne. $50 a month jump pay was a lot of money to a private back in 1956. Going Airborne meant he would go through Jump school and be assigned to the 101st at Ft. Campbell, KY. Which was a lot closer to home.
When Dad reported to his training company at Ft. Campbell he told the 1st Sgt. that he needed to get his family into an apartment off post. He didn’t tell the 1st Sgt his family was in Elwood, IN and he got his pass to take care of business.
Dad drove up and got us and took up back down and got us into an apartment before reporting back in many hours after his pass had expired.
While he was gone another trainee had made his bunk, arranged his foot locker and unsuccessfully tried to cover for him. That kids name was Art Hill and he a Dad became quick friends.
Dad got an article 15 and extra duty while going through jump school which he and Art successfully completed. Once assigned to his unit Art would babysit me when Mom & Dad went out.
Dad got out after his 2 years but Art made a career of the Army.
Fast Forward 21 years.
I report to Ft. Benning, GA for jump school. I’m up in the barracks making my bunk and the company runner come up and tells me to report to the 1st Sgt. The first Sgt. Tells me I am to report to the training Bn. SGM. I run to Bn. HQ where I am directed to the SGMs door.
I knock and am told “Enter”. I do ready to formally report but the SGM is sitting at his desk and has his back turned to me pouring a cup of coffee. He turns around and it was ART HILL!
Obviously Dad had given him the heads up I was coming and I had no idea where in the Army Art was.
Art tells me to close the door and then sit down. We talked and then he told me to not let the Black Hats know I knew him or I would be in for special attention.
First day of Tower week it was obvious they knew and I got my special attention. I was first in and the very last out of the gig pit. There was no way in hell I was going to let them break me.
Art arranged to make his first jump with me leading me out the door.
Dad was at Fryar DZ to pin HIS solid sterling silver wings on my chest after the 5th jump.
That’s when men were honorable and real. Society has really destroyed that concept in our young!
That’s great, Rah!
A guy I served with had a story about his Dad and his Drill Sergeant being friends, but he didn’t know.
That story was good.
Yours is SO.MUCH.BETTER.
You not letting them break you probably frustrated the Black Hats a little, but at the same time they had to respect you. They were likely saying good things about you to each other.
Your Dad and Art Hill had to be mighty proud of you!
That’s pretty cool it worked out like that.
It’s also pretty cool that Art jumped with your Dad *AND* you!
Many years ago my husband went through jump school at Fort Benning.
Great story.
Awesome story, Rob. Could be part of a script for an Army Airborne movie..
PS – I went through basic training at Ft. Campbell in 1970. The 101st were in Vietnam at that time…
Great story, thanks for posting it.
How Are Tunnels Constructed Beneath the Ocean? #geographyfacts #fyp #tunnels #usa #TBM
Musk is talking about a transatlantic tunnel now. It will be interesting to see how they try and handle the tectonics of the mid-ocean ridge and the spreading.
We’re living in dangerous times. Feels like the 70’s again.
I have to think that submarines are in those areas all the time. Kind of like Ocean Stations for warships back in the day. In that respect I don’t think Trump is fooling Putin with that statement.
I really am not a fan of this move. Even if subs are already there… etc. I feel Putin has practiced great restraint in this proxy war where our narcissist captors played their color revolution games… and Putin is warring against our Establishment, yet not holding it against the American people who were caught unaware.
But the time for American naivete is over. What our tax dollars and power is used for… IS our business… and a reflection of our national character.
What we permit, we promote.
This Ukraine war was “supposed to end”. Why the little puppet Z man with the clankety tin can is still in office… baffles me. The existence or rumor of US-sponsored bio labs in Ukraine is – to me – a bridge gone too far.
Unless we start holding those in our government accountable for their crimes against humanity… the world will… and justifiably…. hold US Americans accountable as a whole. This needs to happen PDQ.
Can we afford to pay for the damages we would be found liable for… with taxation, blood shed, and war?
My soul knows the time we are in and God’s Warnings.
I agree, but Putin should stop. Trump is imo just trying to force a halt. Russia will get those Regions anyway. This is about the unnecessary killing that has to stop. I guess the signals in that directions have long been cast, but it is the understandable lack of trust and a good portion of anger that is holding Putin back on honest negotiations. So Trump tries it with limited pressure without escalating too far. The subs are always in place and within striking distance. Thats the whole point of having them. So this is only a reminder that things can get out of hand pretty quickly, if the wrong people are involved for too much time.
I imagine it is very difficult for Putin to stop and sustain the faith and trust of his people – when the day after proposed ceasefire – drones are sent in to attack public housing and buildings.
He has his people to protect too… and it seems that all of these wars are manned with people who say one thing, but then do another. None has stopped.
One cannot negotiate with those they cannot trust. There is no negotiating with terrorists.
I call it “defensive” saber rattling rah in response to Medvedev’s threat.
Boomers are defense, Bombers and ICBMs are offence. No increased DEFCON level that I m aware of and no reason to be concerned……yet.
Some US and Russian along with a few other country’s (United Kingdom, France, China, and India and likely Israel) boomers (nuclear SSBN capable) are always on patrol.
I know with your background that you are probably aware of this information but some here are not.
I’m not a bit concerned.
Thank you! Many layman have no idea how operations work and become overly concerned with the word nuclear! Even with energy as Trump speaks of small plants for energy, my eyebrows raise as I think to the future when infrastructure becomes a back burner issue again!
Bit of geopolitics even if this is an Australian issue on surface view but thought it may be relevant given the Euro push for the statehood for Gazan & west bank Arabs that seems is based on shaky historical basis at best. Our hard left labour/greens government looks like it will support.
That said I am just highlighting an appalling decision by the New South Wales Supreme Court. The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a national symbol for Australians. Built in a time of adversity during the great depression, much political turmoil with NSW Premier Jack Lang (1930-1932) but sorry I waffle and digress.
Tomorrow our time it will be taken over by a march supporting a declared terrorist organisation and enabled weak feckless Labour Party politicians and an activist judiciary.
I despise the defiling of a national symbol and think it is a horrible look for the majority of Australians who think this is utterly inappropriate. Anyway Murdoch press article below and former PM Tony Abbott is right:
https://www.skynews.com.au/australia-news/politics/tony-abbott-says-australia-is-on-a-slippery-slope-after-court-backs-palestine-protest-on-harbour-bridge/news-story/eef698b7ab7168cea6f2de4e7ba9000d
For your perusal as I hope I get the US slang right, pals across the Pacific.
Apologies mods, I post so infrequently I am unsure whether I am using the nom de plume I usually do.
Thanks for the info Dave and G’day.
Queensland got some snow I hear!
Yes on NSW border. Elevations are over 1000m asl, only snow that falls in Oz is at elevations. Unless you are in Tasmania or rarely in Victoria. It’s generally a wet snow as well.
Anyway I digress again, Applethorpe gets snow every few years when we get cold blasts from well south. This one is being dragged up from 60 deg south. I live in the far north, tropics bit like Florida and we froze today, 23 deg C (73.4F) max temp.
Can’t wait for Sept when build up to the wet season starts.
Well, we don’t have to drive in for Savannah’s written write up. They’re going to email it… because they don’t want dragged in on a Saturday.
I’ll be interested to read what it says and I’m restraining myself against writing a rebuttal.
It’s Savannah’s battle… she must handle it on her own. (Sitting on my hands and duct taping my mouth.)
On the good news front… we have opened her a ROTH IRA and will move funds into it.. so the stock market can do what the stock market does… and hopefully build her future wealth.
Of course we understand fully that the market is not God and could be lost at any moment… but one would hope God will reform this listing ship for us to see future years of prosperity. May He protect her earnings, equip her with debt-free wisdom, and may she grow to steward His gifts towards her wisely.
With that, would love your growth minded tips for a young and adventurous investor. (Not Palantir… I’m thinking rare earth mining, oil and gas, and Tesla in the mind of SpaceX, Starlink, etc…) though she may just be able to afford a single share of those! Lol
We are going to start with $1,000. So proud of her… to be squirreling away for her future. Do it now and get into the habit and she’ll “live like no one else now… so she can live like no one else” later.
We love Dave Ramsey. Wish he’d take over the government checkbook.
I’m not an expert but a long time investor. My advice would be to invest broadly using a ETF through her Roth. Invest globally. We like to think the US is everything but lots of opportunities around the world. One key is to keep adding money every pay period. Pay yourself first before paying everything else.
If she is working have her set up her W2 withholding so that she breaks even on income taxes. Getting big refunds each spring is wasteful. That money can be going into investments.
Thank you, John. She’s a temporary contract worker currently. Two more months and hopefully she’ll be offered full time with Hershey’s. She loves it.
We’ve always been so poor as a single Mom, I had the FEAR that I would ever owe the government anything, so claimed single and zero. I have learned though… it’s more for the government to mismanage and I don’t want to fund what they fund anymore.
As we all often do with our children – we try to set them up to be and do better than we do or did. Teaching her good habits and while she’s still living at home, she can squirrel away, save and build her a nest egg, so when she decides she’s ready to pursue a vocational degree – and/or participate in military service – she will be in a stable position to do so.
Many thanks for your tips. I’m making a list to share with her. Thank you for the reminder to pay herself first.
“If she is working have her set up her W2 withholding so that she breaks even on income taxes. Getting big refunds each spring is wasteful. That money can be going into investments.”
It’s incredible the number of people who get so excited about getting a big tax refund. I’ve had to remind so many that it’s their money that the government’s holding, and they’re not giving it back with interest. The administrative state loves the misconception that a big refund is somehow us getting ahead in the game.
J
Jonrilus,
For too long – I could only have obamacare insurance working for small business. The nature of that beast made it crucial for me to never owe the government anything and I got burned very badly four consecutive years with the obamacare games and catch-22 claw backs. One year, I was over $77 my $39,000 annual income – and was penalized $1800 come tax season – always claiming single and zero in withholdings. The next year $11 from a Roth IRA capital gain from $100 investment- that I had to cash out – and I was brutalized with a $700 penalty at tax time. Because of the volatility of the income tax and “affordable care act insurance” game – I was a scared rabbit afraid to move one way or another.
Obamacare was / is the single most threatening robber of wealth for the middle and lower class in existence today. I spoke at great length to a higher up at the IRS and she pleaded with me to talk to legislators. But then COVID came in and the legislators were otherwise engaged – she had spent much of her time – calling lower income families with thousands of dollars in penalties that we were unaware of the boundaries and claw backs. My monthly health insurance cost for 2 of us – was over $700 a month. (Despite former policies being independently insured through United Healthcare GoldenRule that were only $300 a month.) Obamacare is criminal – especially when they’re giving healthcare away for free.
My daughter had a medical specialist at the time – an Endocrinologist due to growth hormone deficiency – she was insured by two powerful insurers (her dad is Pfizer) – so I couldn’t move from my job, couldn’t move from my healthcare, and couldn’t get a small side job to save ourselves. I lost my home over $30 a month. It was hell. Savannah needed me to be in my job, so I could help her academically – and fight all the battles we were in.
I gave up, sold my precious home, cashed out my equity which for some reason I couldn’t touch – when I sold it it was about $40, 000 and I took $12,000 of to teach everyone I could get my hands on the Constitution through “Biblical Citizenship” with Patriot Academy. I got that program in every politician’s hands I could.
$15,000 to pay off my car note. The rest to move and pay debt… and to fight off our own COVID illnesses that almost claimed my life. So, and here’s a God-thing – if I wouldn’t have lost my home, I would have lost my life not being able to pay for the expensive therapeutics to save me.
Bitter. Bitter pills. My mortgage was $690/month + 2 HOAs for a total of $990/month. I pay $2,000/month in rent now. Of course, I am paid better because of the success of the small business I helped build and subsequent moving to “big business” again – but I admit being very very bitter. I am not sure I will ever easily forgive this and that’s something God will work with me on.
Now that I’m no longer in “small businesses” – I have more flexibility and have removed us under the thumb of big government healthcare – but have the much bigger headache of being in a mismanaged large business in heavy machinery – in a company whose executives went “woke”. I trade one set of headaches for others.
My daughter is still on my insurance, but she’s on the cusp of her own through Hershey’s…
I make $65,000 a year now and our health insurance for two of us with Anthem is about $600/month with larger company of about 90 employees.
Your ETF TIP was really helpful – thank you. It’s been almost 30 years since I had anything in the markets. I’ve got a good mix for her and when she wakes up, we will go through how to research these and make some allocations.
Greetings Treepers! 🤜✝️🤛
Ours can’t stand it if either of us is in the tub. They have to be allowed to come in, must investigate, must climb on us, must paw the water… and if there are foamy bubbles -well that’s just fun time. Ours will protest a bath of their own – but they don’t hate it. I think they’re trying to keep their “street cred”, so they feign disdain – for a minute.
Woo,
-Happy day❣️
I would have to BOOP that nose! Soooo adorable.
I am in the midst of heavy cleaning – uugh. They were pressure washing our buildings at this expensive apartment complex I am in – and they were using BLEACH WATER. I got home just in time to watch the dude SOAK my $200 worth of gorgeous patio plants – despite me having moved them as far away from the building as I could – so he could shoot the building from the side – but alas he shot over the top of – and just destroyed, destroyed, destroyed.
Not only have I had super stressed plants despite my attempts to flush them with clean water… we have had some really sad die-off… and it completely destroyed our natural insect barrier and we got a terrible occurrence of black mites that decimated my Nasturiums and red mites that got into my 2 BR 2 BA + office apartment causing much grief for us and our kitties.
Had to order the big guns Permethrin and Pyrethrins using PT Ultracide – I despise BASF, but a girl has to do what a girl has to do to protect her interior living space and her pets. It was over $60 for two 14 oz cans. One for use now, another for storage in case the first round doesn’t stick. My food-grade diatomaceous earth wasn’t enough to arrest this massive problem and DE can wreck nice vaccuums.
I totally lost my cool with the senseless act and wrote a strongly worded letter that such pressure washing work should take place before the beginning of the growing season, or thereafter once everyone had the chance to clear their flora and fauna from their patios and their furniture. Would be an excellent way to end the season with a good pressure washing – but instead – they destroyed the beauty we had on our patios. I was credited $200 towards my $2000 a month rent – but all the effort and hard work –
and I believe my entire Praying Mantis family has perished. My little frog hasn’t been seen in too long.
I am working past the lament and pushing through with the recovery. My poor Alzheimers kitty got an eye infection likely from the mite infestation and we had to treat him with antibiotics. He’s allergic to vaccines and things, so we have to be most careful with his old bitty self.
Everyone is getting a bath today and all their bedding and toys washed and cleaned. $200 doesn’t cover the work.
Howdy Patience,
This cat with the black/grey pattern drinking from the birdbath…..
Is that a specific breed?
Mom has one like that and I’ve seen others. Always wondered.

MATTHEW 6 (NIV)
Giving to the Needy
6 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Prayer
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11
Give us today our daily bread.
12
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13
And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Fasting
16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[c] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[d] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Good afternoon Woo. I don’t thank you enough for your comments. They are inspirational, provide smiles and just all around make me feel good. Thank you. Hope you and Savanna have a blessed weekend.
Awwww Pat,
I realized a long time ago – that when you are in love with something or someone – you want to share it with the world!
I am crass, mouthy, broken, obnoxious, brave !, and deeply, deeply in love with The Lord. I’ve grown to love my brothers and sisters here in the Treehouse and know many of us strive in the same challenges daily, so if I can find things that help me…. I am sure, too, they can help others.
If it helps one or many – even one – is enough for me.
You made my heart glad – thank you, Sister. (I could never call you “brat”. lol)

Verse of the Day for Saturday, August 2, 2025
✟
“LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:”
Psalms 10:17 (KJV)
COMMENTARY FOR PSALMS 10
“The psalmist complains of the wickedness of the wicked. (1-11) He prays to God to appear for the relief of his people”. (12-18)
(12-18) “The psalmist speaks with astonishment, at the wickedness of the wicked, and at the patience and forbearance of God. God prepares the heart for prayer, by kindling holy desires, and strengthening our most holy faith, fixing the thoughts, and raising the affections, and then he graciously accepts the prayer. The preparation of the heart is from the Lord, and we must seek unto him for it. Let the poor, afflicted, persecuted, or tempted believer recollect, that Satan is the prince of this world, and that he is the father of all the ungodly. The children of God cannot expect kindness, truth, or justice from such persons as crucified the Lord of glory. But this once suffering Jesus, now reigns as King over all the earth, and of his dominion there shall be no end. Let us commit ourselves unto him, humbly trusting in his mercy. He will rescue the believer from every temptation, and break the arm of every wicked oppressor, and bruise Satan under our feet shortly. But in heaven alone will all sin and temptation be shut out, though in this life the believer has a foretaste of deliverance.”
Commentary by Matthew Henry, 1710.

Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered !!!
WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
